[pulseaudio-discuss] TeamSpeak 3
Since the discussion focus has turned to providing solutions for problems, I'm wondering if the collective mind can figure out as to why doesn't the new teamspeak 3 client does not work in certain cases. The use case here is ubuntu kk, pa 0.9.19. Just playing a test sound will make it a) be choppy and b) cause ts3 client to lock up using all cpu shortly after that. I suspect it's related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-plugins/+bug/485488 which hasn't gotten all that much attention but makes gaming a sad experience. Here's a short video of how it breaks down (oh you can't hear the test sound, it's in the headphones and I don't know how to re-route output to input graphically): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/84880/ts3-not-worky.ogv Any ideas? ___ pulseaudio-discuss mailing list pulseaudio-discuss@mail.0pointer.de https://tango.0pointer.de/mailman/listinfo/pulseaudio-discuss
Re: [pulseaudio-discuss] Pulseaudio in general - does it make sense?
Everyone has their viewpoint. Gaming in Ubuntu Karmic is quite an unpleasant experience due to the ALSA-PA plugin making games die / have really stuttering sound. Nobody cares about it atm until after the holidays, so I'm still waiting on that for a resolution... I have a USB headset, and no, the first time plugged in PA did nothing. I had to manually change the input and output streams to the USB headset to make my apps work. Worse than that, I'm not able to specify a default one - so for every new app, I have to set it to my headset. To make matters more fun, PA will reset (at some condition which I don't agree with and doesn't help my use case) to my onboard sound card. Oh and the new teamspeak 3 that just came out completely fails to work on ubuntu karmic. Just hogs all CPU and dies when you try to record any sound in it. But hey, on the bright side, recordmydesktop doesn't bork out with someone is already using the sound card problem. ___ pulseaudio-discuss mailing list pulseaudio-discuss@mail.0pointer.de https://tango.0pointer.de/mailman/listinfo/pulseaudio-discuss
Re: [pulseaudio-discuss] Why no 'default device' option?
Not always. It'll randomly forget what goes where. Takes me a moment of confusion after making sure sound isn't muted to realize... ___ pulseaudio-discuss mailing list pulseaudio-discuss@mail.0pointer.de https://tango.0pointer.de/mailman/listinfo/pulseaudio-discuss
Re: [pulseaudio-discuss] Why no 'default device' option?
The thing is that I never move them back. I'm always moving them to my USB headset. ___ pulseaudio-discuss mailing list pulseaudio-discuss@mail.0pointer.de https://tango.0pointer.de/mailman/listinfo/pulseaudio-discuss
[pulseaudio-discuss] Why no 'default device' option?
It's great that *pavucontrol* offers a fallback device option. But why doesn't it offer one for selecting which device would you like to be default? My use case: I'm on a laptop and have a wireless usb headset. I prefer that everything is played/recorded via the headset, when the headset is connected to the laptop. Currently with PulseAudio, every new app that I start will use the onboard sound card. I have to manually go to pavucontrol, and change the streams to my headset. PA will also, at some point later in time, randomly forget that and reset back to the soundcard, but I haven't found the reliable pattern for that to report it. ___ pulseaudio-discuss mailing list pulseaudio-discuss@mail.0pointer.de https://tango.0pointer.de/mailman/listinfo/pulseaudio-discuss
Re: [pulseaudio-discuss] Why no 'default device' option?
Definitely... now that you've explained it to me, the pavucontrol UI communicates it's message quite poorly. Thanks for the tip ___ pulseaudio-discuss mailing list pulseaudio-discuss@mail.0pointer.de https://tango.0pointer.de/mailman/listinfo/pulseaudio-discuss
