Jira (PUP-4230) File resources with ensure=>absent do not have hashes logged after being filebucketed
Title: Message Title Michael Smith commented on PUP-4230 Re: File resources with ensure=>absent do not have hashes logged after being filebucketed On further reflection, we're not comfortable merging this change while it has to work around PUP-4329. That leads to logic in syncing the File's ensure property that we'll have to maintain that can have some unexpected side-effects (modifying resource[:content] and resource[:checksum]); it may also lead to significant performance hits in re-calculating checksums, particularly if it results in downloading a remote source twice. Using verbose (which has pretty low additional reporting) if you want to get the checksum used in the filebucket is a pretty reasonable alternative. Jira (PUP-4230) File resources with ensure=>absent do not have hashes logged after being filebucketed
Title: Message Title Michael Smith commented on PUP-4230 Re: File resources with ensure=>absent do not have hashes logged after being filebucketed The filebucket won't pull a file if the resource specifies a checksum property that doesn't matched the system's configured checksum. I'll file a ticket for that. The checksum reported by the PR won't display the right checksum under those circumstances, but since the filebucket is broken in that case anyway I don't see it being a problem with the approach. Title: Message Title Eli Young commented on PUP-4230 Re: File resources with ensure=>absent do not have hashes logged after being filebucketed So, after looking some more at `change_to_s`, I have determined that this is actually a fair bit more complicated than I initially thought it was, due to the fact that `change_to_s` runs after the file resource has already been removed from the filesystem.
