puppetserver has added support for code-id-command which can be specified in /etc/puppetlabs/puppetserver/conf.d/puppetserver.conf as:
versioned-code : {
code-id-command : "/path/to/code_id.sh"
}
The code-id-command should be executable by puppet (which puppetserver runs as), and should write the code id to stdout, e.g.
#!/bin/sh
echo "code-id-goes-here"
Similarly, a code-content-command will need to be set in puppetserver.conf and should return that version of file content.
Note the agent does not use the checksum_value to determine insync-ness (PUP-5701), and the compiler does not inline content_uri nor does the agent use it to retrieve static file content (PUP-5114). Those are required to test the end-to-end system, but we should be able to start on an acceptance test that executes code-id-command and verifies the output of that is passed to the code-content-command script.
