Is the full problem that we have a dependency on facter and we want to get rid of that dependency or does solving just this problem provide benefit outside of that. Issue Type: Improvement Assignee: Unassigned Created: 2018/04/30 11:07 AM Priority: Normal Reporter: Justin Stoller Allow passing the ip address, short hostname, domain name, and/or full qualified hostname into Puppet when initializing settings. Currently Puppet Server uses Puppet as a library and does not handle Facter fact look ups well. We can run Facter, or Puppet, or get this information from the JVM, on start up and pass this into Puppet when we initialize it in each JRuby instance. This would prevent multiple Facter calls for each JRuby initialization (which causes a huge performance hit when starting Puppet Server as well as intermittently during runtime. Add Comment
