Re: [pve-devel] roadmap for proxmox 3.4 ?

2014-09-30 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Hi... I am not a programmers... Perhaps someone more like a betatester
I subscribe this like. just to stay tunned about last Proxmox news...
But, I have some suggestions too:

1 - Build cluster over GUI
2 - Improve VDI, perhaps... I would like to see something like Xen Desktop,
the hability to create shortchuts on desktop, linked to remote apps
3 - Improve User Manager... I would like to see more granular permissions...
4 - Qemu MicroCheckPoint (http://wiki.qemu.org/Features/MicroCheckpointing)

Sorry if I am out of place here... And forgive me if some this suggestions
make nosense or if some one of thens is already on plan...

Cheers...

[pve-devel] Whislist

2014-10-03 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Hi guys
It would be nice if Proxmox came with some monitoring tool, like Centreon,
Nagios, Zabbix or Zenoss, to monitoring some resources...
I remember that OpenQRM has Nagios build in to monitoring VM's and others
stuff...

Re: [pve-devel] backup

2014-10-18 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Well...

I have just one node here, because the other server doesn't arrive yet, but
I already create the cluster...
And my backup task are extremaly slow!
It a file about 23 GB, that take almost 5 hours.
Ok! I ran backup over LVM-on-top-iSCSI

VMIDNAMESTATUSTIMESIZEFILENAME 103Windows2012OK04:53:4122.52GB
/BKPVMS/dump/vzdump-qemu-103-2014_10_17-18_30_02.vma.lzo TOTAL04:53:41
22.52GB

On the other hand, this is another server , and a file with about 80 GB of
size, take almost 45 minutes!

VMIDNAMESTATUSTIMESIZEFILENAME 100Win2008OK00:44:5178.98GB
/STORAGE03/dump/vzdump-qemu-100-2014_10_17-23_00_02.vma.lzo TOTAL00:44:51
78.98GB

With sure something is wrong, but I can believe that paralel task has
something to do with this, since I have just one node...

Any advice will help?

2014-10-18 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Oh Dear! Qnap! Pity of you! Qnap has only 128 MB of memory and low
hardware...
Here, I do backup locally, in an External HDD USB
To one server, I saw here around 15-18 MB/s, but there's some ocasion that
I saw less than 10 MB/s
Compare to other server, I saw 60-80 MB/s...

Well... I am not quite sure. but if you do not attempt to use OpenVZ and
only KVM VM's, you could even try the Debian based kernel... And not the
PVE kernel.
But, I think that Proxmox staff has more explanation about all this
stuff

[pve-devel] Plans to Soft Fence

2014-12-26 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Hello guys...

First of all, Merry Xmas for everybody

In second place, I wonder if there is such plans to include soft fence in
Proxmox, like oVirt do...
I read something here:

http://www.ovirt.org/Automatic_Fencing#Automatic_Fencing_in_oVirt_3.3

According to this wiki, it will no need of hardware fence, i.e., Power
manager...
Or am I wrong??
Need some light here

Thanks a lot

[pve-devel] RC1 installation stuck in libffi5...

2015-02-04 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Hi guys

Usually, I had installed PVE in VirtualBox first, just to see how is
going...
I set 4 VHD with 8 GB each one...
But now, I try the RC1 and after I choose ZFS RAID 10, the installation
stuck in libffi5...
But if I choose one single VHD, everything is ok, and I can boot the system
normally...

Some advice??

Thanks

[pve-devel] Memory and CPU Hotplug

2015-02-20 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Hi guys
I have test memory and cpu hotplug in a CentOS 7 VM.
Memory works fine, but I only can increase the total among of memory but
not decrease.
CPU, although I had enable NUMA, I was unable to change the number of cores.
Perhaps I misunderstood the behavior of hotplug features...
If this the case, please can someone help to understand this better??
I also set Broadwell as a CPU type, which I do not know if this correct or
not...
Thanks for any help

2015-02-21 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Well... I have use used XFS for a long time... Indeed, xfs_repair "save my
life" once...
I always read samething that XFS is very fast and reliable...
Perhaps ZFS is faster and reliable too...
I don't know exactly what the advantages or disadvantages to compare ZFS
and XFS..
Need more research..
Docs will be welcome...

Thanks

Well... Not get any kernel panic here... Everything is solid like a rock,
but no HA works at all...
But Thomas said me that doesn't works with two nodes configuration.

Too bad!

Re: [pve-devel] [PVE-User] Quorum for HA iin Pve 4

2015-09-08 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Ok... Three nodes is ok...
But I need to know how can I choose some nodes to be more eligible than
other nodes...
Let's me explain...
I will have three nodes, two here in my infrasctructure and other one, the
third in a site out from my infra...
So, let's suppose if I wanna when the internal node fail, the VM migrate to
the third node and not to the second node...
Can I only put node1 and node3 in HA group??
I hope I make myself clear

Thanks

2015-09-08 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Yeah... Nice one...

Other solution is create a third VM in node 1, with Pve and add this VM to
the cluster.
So in that way, I will be with 3 nodes, after all...

[pve-devel] DRBD pending action

2015-09-09 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Hi...

I am testing PVE 4 with drbd and I remove a volume but is not delete any
way from the DRBD layer. Instead I get this message:

drbdmanage list-volumes
++

| Name | Vol ID | Size | Minor |
| State |
++

| vm-100-disk-1 | 0 | 32768 |10 |
| pending actions: remove |

Is there any other command like commit or something???

Thanks

Well... AFAIK, DRBD9 storage only support RAW disc, and RAW disc do not
support online resize disk, right? Only QCOW2 support it... Forgive me if I
am wrong!

Now I see... As Emmanuel said, QCOW2 or RAW is related about snapshots...
My mistake...
But, even so, is there some advantage about QCOW2 rather than RAW??

[pve-devel] PVE 4 and problem with drbdmanage

2015-09-11 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Hi all...

I deploy two servers here, with PVE 4 and DRBD9.
Same days ago, I was able to install and perform same live migration.
Now,I can do it anymore...
I deploy a new VM with Windows XP, just for test but I can't migrate...
I get this error:

Sep 11 10:57:03 starting migration of VM 101 to node 'pve02' (10.0.0.2)
Sep 11 10:57:03 copying disk images
Sep 11 10:57:03 starting VM 101 on remote node 'pve02'

Sep 11 10:57:03 migrate_cancel
Sep 11 10:57:04 ERROR: migration finished with problems (duration 00:00:01)
TASK ERROR: migration problems

In pve01 I see this:

pve01:~# drbdmanage list-volumes
++

| Name | Vol ID | Size | Minor |
  | State |
++

| vm-101-disk-1 | 0 | 32768 |11 |
  |ok |
++

In pve02 I see this:

pve02:~# drbdmanage list-volumes
++

| Name | Vol ID | Size | Minor |
  | State |
++

| vm-100-disk-1 | 0 | 32768 |10 |
  |ok |
++

As can you see, the disc 101 exist in PVE01 but not in PVE02.
How can I force drbdmanage to sync or whatever to show disc 101 in both
servers??

Thanks

[pve-devel] PVE 4 and bond

2015-09-21 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Hi

I am facing some issues with bond... Here's the interfaces file:

auto bond0
iface bond0 inet manual
   slaves eth2,eth3
   bond_miimon 100
   bond_mode 802.3ad

auto vmbr0
iface vmbr0 inet static
   address 172.16.219.237
   netmask 255.255.0.0
   gateway 172.16.0.253
   bridge_ports eth0
   bridge_stp off
   bridge_fd 0

auto vmbr1
iface vmbr1 inet static
   address 10.10.10.10
   netmask 255.255.255.0
   bridge_ports bond0
   bridge_stp off
   bridge_fd 0

Bond and vmbr1 are not on-line, unless I run service networking restart.
Even so, I get this message in syslog:

bond0: interface eth2,eth3 does not exist!

But I have 8 NIC in this machine

What's is wrong

However, I couldn't found /etc/cluster...

[pve-devel] Qemu-img thin provision

2015-09-23 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Hi

Can you, guys, adjust the qemu to make a thin provision, when the VM file
reach more than 500 GB or 1 TB??
The reason I ask for that, is that very hard to wait qemu-img end up create
a huge VM file, mainly when we use NFS or other NAS/SAN solution...

Thank you for that...

By the way, the diff doesn't work Dietmar...

[pve-devel] [ Wish Feature ] Change the among of memory when migrate

2015-10-14 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Hi...

Perhaps my thought is no right, but even so, I will try expose it here...
Is there a way to (in future releases, perhaps) make Proxmox more flexible
when migrate a VM from one server with more memory to a server to less
memory??

I mean, perhaps ask to set how many memory to use on the other server with
less memory, if the system detect that the destination server don't have
enough memory...
Something like that...

Regards

[pve-devel] PVE Cluster and HA Rollback

2015-10-25 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Hi

If somebody ask me, I will suggest a feature to rollback everything we do
about cluster or HA, or yet, both, in PVE.
Some times you need unconfigure cluster and HA.
Ok. I know that we can use pvecm delnode in order to remove nodes from
cluster, but related HA it seems to be more difficult.
Some times HA problems or even cluster problems you just solved reinstall
the entire proxmox..
It will easier some way to rollback to original states...
I hope make myself clear in this matter...

Best regards

It would be nice...
I also have some knowledge Remus, and I had implemented Remus on top of Xen
about 3 years ago... Indeed, in latest version of Xen Server, remus came to
the mainstream code... I do not know if this ready for production, but is
there!

Perhaps I don't make myself clear...

With Load Balance I mean when in a node cluster there is a high load, a VM
could to automatic migrated to other node with less load... Something like
that...
Sorry if I messed up the concepts...
Perhaps you can enlight me.

Re: [pve-devel] training week : students features request

2018-03-20 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Thank you Alexandre.
I saw CIFS storage backend, but I don't see nothing related cloud-init.
Sorry for newbie skills.
Perhaps you can point the direction to generate the debs from git
repository.
So I will handle myself and play with.

Thanks again

Re: [pve-devel] training week : students features request

2018-03-20 Thread Gilberto Nunes
That's was nice! Thanks Dietmar

Meanwhile, I get some errors here... Certain because I am doing something
pretty ugly.

So, this is my steps:

1 - I alreay have a KVM VM with Alpine Linux in it. The VMID is 101.
2 - I add a cloud disk to VM 101. I add it to ZFS local storage... I local
storage I get this error [1]
3 - I went to Cloud-init, fill all information, such user and password bla
bla bla... Click Regenerate Image
4 - I created a new VM, attached the cloud-init and try to boot over it - I
use qm set VMID -ide2 local-zfs:vm-101-cloudinit and try it also with -scsi1
5 - I get a not bootable disk

Re: [pve-devel] training week : students features request

2018-03-20 Thread Gilberto Nunes
Oh! I see!

So this the correct steps:
1 - generate the cloud-init image
2 - install my favorite distro
3 - install the cloud-init into the vm with my fav distro
4 - when boot the fav distro, cloud-init will get the information from that
cloud-init image and set the IP, user, password and so on...

That's the general idea? Correct if I wrong please!

This is not ZFS storage. The error was generated in local (normal disk)
storage.
I get the error again... When I use ZFS storage, it work properly!

2018-03-21 Thread Gilberto Nunes
