Re: [pygame] Redesigning the pygame.org website
I agree and don't get me wrong, its one of my favorite sites. I would also be willing to volunteer to be a moderator to get rid of the spam posts on there. Re: [pygame] Redesigning the pygame.org website
As far as I know there was an effort to do that, but it never got live. Yep, Devon, Orcun and I worked on a new site back in 2009 for nearly one year. It had some quite nice features (imo) and Devon designed a stylish ui. It never got live cause the pygame core team did not want to use it and we did not have the time (and motivation) to launch it as stand alone site. However, its still there in the repos. The backend is made with Django and it has build-in support for embedded sphinx documentation as well as a trac instance integrated (for wiki, tickets and repo viewer). If anyone wants to launch it or take it as source of inspiration or use it in any other way, feel free to do so. For the full story have a look at the mailing list archives.

I would love (if this really got going) to just give some ideas. I'm not a real coder, except in python/pygame of course. Re: [pygame] Redesigning the pygame.org website
Hi all, If you look through the mailing list archives, there are a number of references to such attempts in the past, and every so often it comes up again (as now). There have been a few efforts too. I personally would like to see one of them adopted and used. The old site is now desperately showing its age. I like (or maybe am used to) the overall look of the website, but it really needs to be polished up a lot. This suggests an improvement rather than scrap-and-restart method. I also lend my support to this project. Thanks, Ian

That might be the most valuable bit of knowledge we can gain from past endeavors. Katie
