it could be a problem with the update policy. I bet that you did set to update the value that the spinbutton gets after any key press.
You can control where the cursor goes after any key press anyway, the entry is child of editable (http://www.pygtk.org/docs/pygtk/class-gtkeditable.html ) I have a similar problem with glade 3.12 (for gtk3) and any entry (I can only copy and paste, not enter characters at the middle of an existing word), unfortunately that's a glade bug and I cannot do anything.
