FWIW, I do basically the same thing. I forgot that I'm doing that, because I
moved my settings initialization code out of `main`.

With regard to `set`, don't you *have* use it if you want to override a
global setting in your app config? It looks like[1] if a config key is
present in both the global config and an app section, the setting in the app
section is ignored unless you use `set`. This seems counterintuitive to me.

I tested it too, but my test was flawed: I used
`paste.deploy.loadwsgi.appconfig`, which merges global config and app
config. For some reason, I assumed it would load the config file the same
way that `loadapp` does.

Deform Schema w/Known Sequence Number

2011-09-07 Thread Evan Tangman
I am trying to implement a Deform schema wherein there is a sequence
of inputs of the same type, but there will be a different number for
each schema. Better shown with example perhaps:

class SampleSchema(MappingSchema):
input1 = SchemaNode(String())
input2 = SchemaNode(String())

class SampleSchema(MappingSchema):
input1 = SchemaNode(String())
input2 = SchemaNode(String())
input3 = SchemaNode(String())
input4 = SchemaNode(String())

My question is: Is there a way to create a schema that can digest a
tuple specifying how many input[x] to create, or do I need to define a
different schema for each one?

I'd encourage you to apply the patch implied by this pull request:

https://bitbucket.org/danjac/pyramid_mailer/pull-request/1/drop-lamson-dependency

It makes the system work better on Windows and drops the Lamson
dependency.

New pyramid_simpleform clone

2011-09-07 Thread Bruce Wade
Hi,

For anyone interested we have created our own clone of pyramid_simpleform
that we are actively developing, just because questions have not been
answered on the danjac branch.

https://gitorious.org/bossteam/pyramid_simpleform anyone can help out with
the project. Our version has already fixed the use of errors_for("name") in
template files. and errorslist("name")

Re: Composite application configuration

2011-09-07 Thread Michael Merickel
Apologies for not following most of the conversation, but just thought I'd
mention that in the past I've done:

def main(global_conf, **app_settings):
settings = global_conf.copy()
settings.update(app_settings)

Which allows you to override settings in your app if you want while still
specifying common setup in [DEFAULT].

Pyramid just uses PasteDeploy to parse the INI file, so any 'set' semantics
will still work. Since the settings are not combined by Pyramid, however, I
don't think you will gain much by using 'set' over the code I showed above.

The DEFAULT config does not end up in the settings (I tried that first).

I noted this in one of my earlier posts (re: set). Also, the way you're
updating the settings dict with global_conf will overwrite your app config,
won't it? I'm pretty sure the DEFAULT config will end up in the settings
automatically anyway.
