When I open new or existing project in ipython-notebook, the browser
page gets empty and the following error message is logged:

TypeError: _.has is not a function (in backbone.js).

According to this comment on stackoverflow [1], underscore >= 1.3.1 is
needed to fix this error. According to file [2], version of
underscore.js is 1.1.6. I've replaced it with underscore.js 1.8.1 and
the bug has been fixed.

Package: ipython3
Version: 0.13.2-2
Severity: minor

I have an install of squeeze, of which however I upgraded some packages
(with pinning) to Debian testing. Among them was ipython3 (as well as
python3, which is now version 3.3.2-17). After that, when I tried to run
ipython3, I got:

pietro@dipeco-12:~$ ipython3
Traceback (most recent call last):

  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/pkg_resources.py", line 584, in

raise DistributionNotFound(req)
pkg_resources.DistributionNotFound: ipython==0.13.2

The error was solved by upgrading python3-pkg-resources from the version
in stable (0.6.24-1) to the one in testing (0.6.49-2). So ipython3
should probably have a versioned dependency on this package.

Dear Maintainer,

When opening ipython notebook web-interface the top-row buttons lack the icons.
The reason for this problem is that symlinks inside the directory
/usr/share/ipython/notebook/static/components/font-awesome/build/assets/font-awesome/font
point to files in the
/usr/share/fonts-font-awesome/font directory, which does not exists anymore due
to
#743034 bug resolution.
Creating symlink 'font -> fonts' in the /usr/share/fonts-font-awesome solves
the problem
and makes icons visible again.

Dear Maintainer,

Pandoc is required to convert an Ipython notebook to a html file when using:
ipython nbconvert --to html --template basic MyNotebook.ipynb

Just installing pandoc solved my issue.

As a side note, nbconvert should be probably part of ipython-notebook

Thanks,
JC

When I resize my (gnome-)terminal, for example make it bigger while
ipython is running and do something like:

  >>> import numpy as np
  >>> np?

the screen is completely garbled up. And it is not possible to read the
help texts any more. As far as I know there is no way of restoring it to
a normal state.

With the normal python interpreter this problem does not exist.

Cheers,

Bastian

Package: src:jupyter-notebook
Version: 4.2.3-4

Hi,

I was pondering updating ipython-genutils in Debian, so I tried to
compile the rdeps with my new package. The only failing one was
jupyter-notebook, but I then checked if it was really my new package's
fault: no, it also fails when I try to compile the sources as-is.

The error is at the end of this mail.

I hope that helps,

Snark on #debian-js

Unable to reproduce this. The output of `jupyter kernelspec list`
provided shows that there is a custom install of ipykernel (python2) in
/usr/local/share/jupyter/kernels/python2 shadowing python-ipykernel -
maybe installed with `sudo pip install`?

Try removing that version and see if the packaged kernel
(/usr/share/jupyter/kernels/python2/kernel.json) works as expected.

The report above appears to reference
.local/jupyter/kernels/python3/kernel.json , which would be a user-local
kernel file not installed by the package.

If the kernel file is wrong, I don't think this is a bug in
jupyter-notebook. If the system-installed kernel file
/usr/share/jupyter/kernels/python3/kernel.json refers to python[2], that
would be a bug in python3-ipykernel

Thanks for the upload. However, you included the changes from -2. Could you
revert the debhelper compat bump?

Sure, it was already committed prior to the freeze IIRC. Uploaded as
-4, including all the changes since the -1 in buster.

Thanks! I added an unblock for it (so no need to file an unblock request).

(For completeness, the reason why -1 did not hit the archive is due to
a pristine-tar issue; I reverted and recreated the entry on the
pristine-tar branch and it regenerates correctly at build time, avoiding
the REJECT when the file was "different in the archive").

Ah, that explains that...

Sure, it was already committed prior to the freeze IIRC. Uploaded as
-4, including all the changes since the -1 in buster.

(For completeness, the reason why -1 did not hit the archive is due to
a pristine-tar issue; I reverted and recreated the entry on the
pristine-tar branch and it regenerates correctly at build time, avoiding
the REJECT when the file was "different in the archive").
