[Python-modules-team] Bug#946810: python3-commonmark-py: update the source url in watch to match the currently supported repo

2019-12-15 Thread Joseph Herlant
Package: python3-commonmark-bkrs
Version: 0.5.4+ds-4
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

The watch file of the package points to the old repository
(rolandshoemaker/CommonMark-py):
https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/modules/commonmark-
bkrs/blob/master/debian/watch

But that repository clearly states that using that repo as source is deprecated
and we should be using the supported one here instead:
https://github.com/readthedocs/commonmark.py

Do you think it would be doable to migrate that over as it seems it's the way
to a maintained upstream?

I'm not sure how much work would actually be involved in that.

Thanks for your help,
Joseph

Python2 becomes end-of-live upstream, and Debian aims to remove
Python2 from the distribution, as discussed in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-python/2019/07/msg00080.html

Your package either build-depends, depends on Python2, or uses Python2
in the autopkg tests. Please stop using Python2, and fix this issue
by one of the following actions.

- Convert your Package to Python3. This is the preferred option. In
case you are providing a Python module foo, please consider dropping
the python-foo package, and only build a python3-foo package. Please
don't drop Python2 modules, which still have reverse dependencies,
  just document them.

  This is the preferred option.

- If the package is dead upstream, cannot be converted or maintained
in Debian, it should be removed from the distribution. If the
package still has reverse dependencies, raise the severity to
"serious" and document the reverse dependencies with the BTS affects
command. If the package has no reverse dependencies, confirm that
the package can be removed, reassign this issue to ftp.debian.org,
make sure that the bug priority is set to normal and retitle the
issue to "RM: PKG -- removal triggered by the Python2 removal".

- If the package has still many users (popcon >= 300), or is needed to
build another package which cannot be removed, document that by
adding the "py2keep" user tag (not replacing the py2remove tag),
using the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org user. Also any
dependencies on an unversioned python package (python, python-dev)
must not be used, same with the python shebang. These have to be
replaced by python2/python2.7 dependencies and shebang.

This is the least preferred option.

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:pyssim

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

Dear Maintainer,

The section “python” is for packages that install the Python
programming language or libraries. Its packages are primarily of
interest only to Python programmers.

The package ‘pyssim’ installs primarily an application, of interest
regardless of the programming language. It should not be in the
“python” section.

By the section descriptions, this package may belong in section
“graphics”.

Please set the field “Section” appropriately on this package.

Since the package is already in Debian with a different section, you
will also need to submit a request to override the existing section
https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/ch05.en.html#override-file>.

Then mark this bug report as blocked by that new one, and be sure not
to close this one until that new one is completed.

Severity: normal

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:python-cups

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:python-libnacl

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

[Python-modules-team] (Teste) Vou explicar!

2019-12-15 Thread Jackingoff

me ouvir novamente.

Dou-lhe 50 horas (mais de 2 dias) para pagar.

Eu tenho um aviso lendo esta carta, e o temporizador vai funcionar quando
você ver esta carta.

build another package which cannot be removed, document that by
adding the "py2keep" user tag (not replacing the py2remove tag),
using the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org user. Also any
dependencies on an unversioned python package (python, python-dev)
must not be used, same with the python shebang. These have to be
replaced by python2/python2.7 dependencies and shebang.

This is the least preferred option.

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:python-traits

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

Dear maintainers,

In Ubuntu we are in the process of trying to unwind the reverse-dependencies
of python-pandas, because it is RC-buggy there and not worth fixing.

The python-apptools package has a build-dependency on python-pandas, which
it uses only for testing.

As a result, I've uploaded the attached patch to Ubuntu, which drops the
build-dependency and skips the tests for python2, which can be done much
more straightforwardly right now than unwinding all of the python-apptools
reverse-dependencies.

Please consider applying this patch in Debian as well.

You might also find that several other python2 build-dependencies could be
dropped if you are not running the tests at build time.

Dear maintainers,

The current VCS for this package is under the /debian group in Salsa,
although this package is maintained by the DPMT.

DPMT policy state that:

Git repositories live on Salsa under the url
g...@salsa.debian.org:python-team/modules/.git

Would it be possible to move it over there? I'd have done it myself
since I technically have the permissions to do so, but I thought I'd ask
first :)

If you don't have time, I'll be happy to do this for you.

Cheers,

Package: python-apptools
Version: 4.4.0-3
Control: block 937296 by -1
Control: tags -1 patch

pandas upstream dropped Python 2 support in 0.25 (before adding Python
3.8 support). As further discussed in #937296, the Debian package
python-pandas is currently part of a big tangle of circular
(build-)dependencies, but can be cut out of that tangle by removing the
build-dependencies from python-apptools and matplotlib2.

Hence, please apply the attached patch to drop the python-pandas build
dependency and allow the test suite to be run without it.

Version: 4.4.0-3
Severity: normal

Usertags: py2removal

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:python-apptools

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:ipdb

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

[Python-modules-team] Bug#946788: feedparser: PEP 479 problem causing StopIteration exceptions

2019-12-15 Thread Christian Buhtz
Package: python3-feedparser
Version: 5.2.1-1
Severity: normal
File: feedparser

Hello,

I still asked about how to handle this problem on the mailing list but did not
receive an answer.
https://alioth-lists.debian.net/pipermail/python-modules-
team/2019-December/061104.html

The debian-current stable version of feedparser is 5.2.1-1 and causing erorrs
because of PEP 479 which is switched on (armed) in Python 3.7.

Feedparser upstream still have fixed it with some lines but not yet released.
https://github.com/kurtmckee/feedparser/pull/131

The next planed stable release of Feedparser is a major one 6.0.0.

The question to you is if you would accept 6.0.0 in Debian 10 or is it a bit
to much modifications?
Whould you prefere to see the fix backported?

Would the debian package maintainer backport this by him/herself and
create a 5.2.1-2?

Or is it better to have upstream release a 5.2.2 that the debian package
maintainer can introduce to Debian 10?

Or another way I can not see?

kind

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:pydbus

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:python-xlrd

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC

Severity: normal

Usertags: py2removal

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:python-geoip

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:python-qrcode

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

Anyone could review it please?
