I'ld feel safer with the new version than with the current one.
In the end, I uploaded only the necessary changes,
not the latest upstream, because we are late in the freeze.
A Python 3.11 patch was already applied anyway, so...
At least, there is a working debian/watch now,
which will help to prevent packaging delays in the future.
