Does this mean, you like to work on https://bugs.debian.org/745661 ?
That would be wonderful!

The license issue is easy to solve, either by removing the line
from debian/copyright or by removing the site-directory from the
.orig.tar.gz. It's not in the pypi source anyway, if I'm not
mistaken.

I'm not planning to work on this at the moment, because of other
priorities, but yes, this makes sense. If you need sponsoring
for the package upload(s), do not hesitate to ask me or here on
the list! Later on we can remove the old python-social-auth
package.

Thanks for working on this! Very much appreciated!

Ghost uses only PySide2 in 2.0.0-dev. Because I have no
knowledge of Qt at all (nor too much time to invest), I cannot
package PySide2. I'll ask Ghost upstream about the issue. Maybe
one can add an alternative API, such as Qt5 or something GIR
based...

Upstream already ported to pyside2, but I can't find pyside2 in

pyside2 will be part of Qt. Is somebody working on this? It
would be bad to remove pyside from Debian before pyside2 is in

Python 2 support, which should be OK for Debian 10.

My interest in pisa/xhtml2pdf is trac-wikiprint, a plugin to
create "PDF books" from multiple Trac wikipages. It was working
fine some years back, but broke with time. I'm not optimistic
about fixing this for stretch.

Yes. I like to package xhtml2pdf as a new package, replacing
pisa. I'm not sure, how exactly, because xhtml2pdf is barely
useful for other use cases. I could not render any "serious" web
page with 0.1b2. I will probably leave out the xhtml2pdf command
line utility, because it will lead only to users frustration.

[Python-modules-team] Bug#850246: missing dependencies, does not work

2017-01-05 Thread W. Martin Borgert

Quoting Michal Čihař :

The library is now completely unusable as it requires at least
social_core, which is not yet packaged. All files are currently stub
which should map old social auth API to new modularized code and
without the dependencies this is just completely unusable.

Oh, sh*t, big fail. I was aware of the deprecation and
mentioned it in d/ch, but must have confused the versions :~(

I think best approach would be to revert to 0.2.x for now as there is
no chance new packages 0.3.x requires will get in (due to soft freeze
starting today).

Yes, reverting the code would be the best measure.

The new code base would not be a good idea for stretch anyway
so late, even if we had some weeks left.

I'll use an epoch (1:) to be able to go back to 0.2.19+dfsg-2.
Otherwise it would be confusing which version Debian actually
ships.

Hi Daniele, you are very observant! :~)

In fact, I assume that the combination of Python 3 and pgmagick
works, but I don't want to advertise it, because the test suite
fails. I just dropped it in debian/rules:27:

if [ $$(echo $$python | cut -f 1 -d .)"-$$name" = "python3-pgmagick" ]; then
continue; fi;

I would like to have the errors fixed first (whether the errors
originate in pgmagick or sorl or the test suite, I don't know)
and only then advertise the feature.

I'm not working on this, however. So if nobody else steps in,
the problem will stay.

Of course we should have both django-LTS and django-LATEST in Debian :~)
But that would be much more work for both maintainers and security team,

I wonder which packages *in Debian* depend on Django, including those
currently ITPed or in NEW?

 * Booktype
 * DjangoCMS
 * FeinCMS
 * Kallithea
 * MediaGoblin
 * Plinth
 * Pootle
 * Weblate

All the applications must work with the Django in stable. Maybe the
anti-cyclic release cycles of Debian and Django are a blessing, not a
curse, because it gives enough time to stabilise?

Dear Juan, (and H01ger, Lunar and team cc'ed),

while I'm all in favour of reproducible builds, I'm not happy

change the defaults of sphinx or dh or whatever and just rebuild
packages?

Who needs or wants a "last change date" in the HTML anyway?

We worked years to get the d/r files clean and short and now we
add cruft to it again? Which is repeated redundantly in hundreds of
files? Maybe dh_sphinxdoc could just "do the right thing"?

2015-06-04 Thread W. Martin Borgert

Currently, the documentation is in the Python 2 package

~1 MB) have to install the Python 2 package.

Btw.: Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like there are a lot of

I don't think so, but let us ask the maintainer:

Matthias, to make builds reproducible, we need to eliminate
timestamps and such stuff from build results. Do you think,
not having timestamps in HTML generated by doxygen would be
a useful default? Maybe even acceptable by upstream?

Otherwise, all Debian packages that use doxygen need to be

[Python-modules-team] Bug#775609: Remove Python 3 version of module to fix RC bug? (python-exif)

2015-01-25 Thread W. Martin Borgert
I just now don't have the time to look at bug #775609
(python3-exif doesn't work, RC). If nobody steps in, I would
upload a new package w/o Python 3 support for jessie.

Wheezy hat python-exif, but not python3-exif, so there is no
regression for users of wheezy.

Anyway, upstream made a new release with Python 3 fixed, so
I would package this right after Jessie release and provide
a backport.

Questions:

 - is removing the Python 3 package the right thing to do?
 - how to do this? just remove it from debian/control?

Thanks in advance!

2014-10-22 Thread W. Martin Borgert
Package: python-odf
Version: 1.2.0-2
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

A Python 3 package should be present.
Georges Khaznadar did the work already:
https://github.com/georgesk/odfpy
I'll check this and try to update the Debian package.

This is because mwc uses Python 3, but python-csselect is still
a Python 2 only module. There is already bug #755031 about it.
Either mwc must work with Python 2, or #755031 must be solved
and mwc must depend on python3-cssselect. In any case, mwc must
be adjusted, I assume.

I looked into this, but forgot to reply: There has been some
upstream changes, that should be reflected in the package.
Mainly the name "pisa" is not used anymore, it seems, only
"xhtml2pdf". The latest version is "0.0.4" at github [1]. But
there was a release "0.0.6" at PyPI [2]. Is it based on the
github code? Anyway, we should probably use the new version
numbers with a new epoch and providing pisa. What do you think?

Btw., I cloned the github repo now to alioth [3] for playing.

2014-04-27 Thread W. Martin Borgert
Matthias, and everybody reading this: Would you mind a move of
the pisa package to collab-maint git? I find it very convenient
to have the complete change history of the software in one
place, instead of upstream and Debian packaging separated. This
enables e.g. cherry-picking from upstream etc. I would remove
the team from the maintainer field, of course. Any objections?

[Python-modules-team] Bug#705735: ITP: python-scss -- a Scss compiler for Python

2013-04-19 Thread W. Martin Borgert

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: python-modules-team@lists.alioth.debian.org

Package name: python-scss
Version : 1.1.5
Upstream Author : German M. Bravo (Kronuz)
URL : https://github.com/Kronuz/pyScss
License : MIT
Programming Lang: Python, optionally C
Description : a Scss compiler for Python

pyScss compiles Scss (Sass), a superset of CSS that is more
powerful, elegant and easier to maintain than plain-vanilla
CSS. The library acts as a CSS source code preprocesor which
allows you to use variables, nested rules, mixins, and have
inheritance of rules, all with a CSS-compatible syntax which
the preprocessor then compiles to standard CSS.

Note: There are some speedups written in C, but one can also
do a pure Python package.

Description : client library to remotely pilot an OpenERP server
 Features supported:
  - `XML-RPC` and `Net-RPC` protocols,
  - access to all methods proposed by an `OpenERP` model class
(even ``browse``) with an API similar to the server-side API,
  - ability to use named parameters with such methods (`OpenERP` >= `6.1`),
  - user context automatically sent (`OpenERP` >= `6.1`),
  - browse records,
  - execute workflows,
  - manage databases,
  - reports downloading.

Note: This client library is independent of packaging the OpenERP
server. It might, however, help in testing the server package.
