[Python-modules-team] Bug#679337: Bug#679337: Bug#679337: Bug#679337: python-virtualenv: Embedded pip in virtualenv crashes with Python = 2.7.3, 3.2.3

Or copy pip/distribute/setuptools from the system? Or link it?

Not that simple. pip is currently installed with easy_install,
installing it from the installed version on the system would require
manually installing all the necessary files, and re-writing the shebang.

Patching the tarball in the source, or patching the installed file
programmatically from virtualenv, is probably the way to go.

Carl: Why did you use a sub-RC severity? I think virtualenv users would
 consider this RC.

Hi Stefano,

I thought it was. It's a RC. I'm modifying the severity right now.

Bye,
Carl Chenet

[Python-modules-team] Bug#676041: zope2.12: FTBFS: ImportError: No module named pip.req

2012-06-05 Thread chaica

Hi,

Thanks for the bug report. I'm reassigning this bug to python-pip
because since 1.1-1, python-pip bumped X-Python-Version to = 2.7, and
Zope 2.12 uses Python 2.6, thus the error message.

My mistake bumping to 2.7, I'll fix it asap. Sorry for that.

Regards,
Carl Chenet

I usually use '-iIv --pedantic' and here I got

remember to build and test your package against an up-to-date unstable
system (or chroot, it's the same).

standards-version is old, so that's another change to make. Moreover,
if you really want, there's (almost) always something to do: for
example move away from cdbs and use dh7.

Is there any trouble with cdbs or real advantage using dh7 ? I'll have a
look at dh7, because until now I was only using cdbs.

cdbs is black magic, while debhelper is a more clearer and
 straightforward system, IMO.

It is my first package adoption so feel free to give me any relevant
   advice.

I'm putting here my request because python-pycallgraph depends on
   python-module-team.

well, tecnically speaking, pycallgraph is *comaintained* by dpmt ;) If
you want to maintain the package in our SVN repo (as you told me on
irc), please commit your temporary changes to it. You might need and
account to alioth, and request to join the team.

  I'll do that.

I'm a member now, I have found the svn for the debian/ dir of
pycallgraph, I have modified some files in it and now, Do I have to send
a diff of debian/ or the new package itself? Maybe I should upload it on
mentors.debian.net ?

 Cool!

 Cheers,

Bye,
Carl Chenet
