Heads up folks...

There's a 90% chance I'll be at the project nights with micro:bits so we

[python-uk] London Python Project Nights - Wednesday 18th of November

2015-11-06 Thread Alistair Broomhead
Hi all,

It's that time again, I'm announcing another episode of London Python
Project Nights, and this time we're moving over to meetup.com, thanks to
the ever-generous PSF. You can find all the details at
http://www.meetup.com/London-Python-Project-Nights/events/226514617/.

We'll be at Skimlinks again, and will as always be working on a wide
variety of projects. Regulars include Pygame-Zero and Romaine, but I hope
we'll see plenty of new projects this year!

I hope to see some of you there,

2015-07-14 Thread Alistair Broomhead
Hi all, just to bump this - there are still a small number of tickets
available for tomorrow's event at Skimlinks
https://plus.google.com/104262607986896422909/about?hl=en - I know what
some of you might be wondering: Why would I go to yet another Tech meetup
in Shoreditch?

Well this one's different - it's not another meetup where there's a handful
of 'rockstar' developers and loads of recruiters, project managers, and
other non-technical staff trying to catch the latest hot buzzwords to put
on their blog posts and job specs.

This is a meetup that's all about code - we don't care what your level of
experience is, we just want people who are passionate to turn up, write
code together, and share their ideas. We've had a couple of sessions
already and each has left meaningful contributions to open source projects.

Hopefully this sounds like something that some of you would like to take
part in, in which case I'll see you tomorrow, and if not, I apologise for
the extra spam in your inbox ;)

At the last couple we've had some interesting work done on Pygame Zero

As said previously this is an informal event. The format is likely to be
much the same as the last - people turn up between 18:30 and 19:00, feel
free to bring your own food, or order some in when you get there - if
you're working on something at the moment bring it along, work on it, and
share ideas and problems with others - if you're not working on anything,
just bring yourself and maybe a laptop, and get stuck in on someone else's
project. See here for a map of nearby transport links and food

Re: [python-uk] London Python Project Nights S00 E02

2015-07-14 Thread Alistair Broomhead
Hi Simon,

That should be plenty, other things that are likely to be useful include:

- a git client and github account
- your text editor or ide of choice
- having set up pip and virtualenv

Other than that feel free to bring anything you'd like, whether it's a
keyboard and mouse, a raspberry pi, snacks and refreshments, or just
yourself.

The event itself is not catered, but there are shops nearby, and there's
usually a group ordering in takeaway.

See you tomorrow,

Al

Re: [python-uk] London Python Project Nights

2015-05-14 Thread Steve Holden
HI AL,

I seem to have mistakenly ended up with three tickets for the event (or at
least three confirmation emails).

They all have the same booking number, but three different ticket numbers.
Please feel free to delete two of them, retaining ticket Y44X-NVKJ-XK which I
will regard as my booking.

Sorry about this - clearly I was being too impatient with EventWax, but this is
something of a surprise.

regards
 Steve
