Re: Next Plan for AOO 4.0 Testing
Daniel, Thanks a lot! I will assign you more test cases on Win 7, please make sure to switch the latest snapshot build(contains stlport change) for testing. We now have another work with more higher priority, that is to do a quick go through with latest dev snapshot build(contains stlport change), if you have interest on it, I will send you the general testing list. Thanks! Thanks Regina, So do need to update the test case as "pass"? Hello Rob, O.k., I'm not too sure if your "incorrectly marked CONFIRMED" topic mentioned below has to do with Bugzilla, but I noticed on couple occasions that when filling out new bugs the CONFIRMED is set by default. I had to go back a few times and change it to UNCONFIRMED. Just my two-cents. I. [QA][Test Report] Weekly Status Update as of 20130607
Hi All, We continue doing the AOO 4.0 Full Regression test this week, here is the weekly update (6/3 - 6/7), please find more detail statistics in wiki: http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/QA/Report/WeeklyReport/20130607 *Test execution: * We have assigned 1732 text executions to about 20 volunteers, and completed about 62% in execution (1072 test execution done). We have exceed the target a little bit more which is to %100 attempted 1000 test executions before June 6. Next, we will retest the failed/blocked test executions as the defects get fixed *Defect summary:* 1. 46 defects are opened and 24 defects are resolved this week, so we have 18 (46-24) net new defects added in the backlog 2. Expose 1 Redhat specific defect during quick testing on RHEL with 64-bit Java, Bug 122485 ([Crash]OOO crash when apply animation for table/chart object) need to set priority as it makes OOO crash *Issues & quality highlight:* 1. We achieve the execution goal as planned on June 6, the pass rate is 90% 2. Test results on Redhat have been updated from local to Testlink, combine the general use testing to give assessment on this platform - overall is good 3. Do general use testing on Redhat for assessment - one crash issue, need set priority for it 1. Bug 122485 - [Crash]OOO crash when apply animation for table/chart object 4. Initiate the triage of bugs for AOO 4.0.0 release blockers 5. QAs are reminded to make sure to switch to the new snapshot build(contains stlport change) for testing *Volunteer status: * 1. We have 1 more volunteer joining test executions 2. No new volunteer(total 6 so far) on defect work, the progress on confirming defects are low, need more to clean backlog of unconfirmed and resolved defects *Plan for next week:* 1. Do testing of upgrading/updating a former AOO/OOo's versions 2. Start acceptance testing on stlport change on Win7/Mac/RHEL/Ubuntu platforms 3. Work with development to prioritize critical defects as 4.0.0 release blockers and assign them to Dev volunteers 4. Retest the failed/blocked test executions as the defects get fixed Thanks you all for your effort this week, it is a great community here, we finally achieve the execution target on full regression testing!! Regards, Yu Zhen

Hi Simone and welcome! On 07.06.2013 00:40, Simone wrote: My name name is Simon and I use OpenOffice family from several years, also on works (mainly Write, a little bit Calc; rarely Draw or Impress); i write nearly 60 pages of paper works, also using macro to interface it with a software I made. My former hope was LibreOffice, now it's OpenOffice 4: I highly appreciated your public questions about people desires about 4.0 version, because a great defect in LibreOffice is that, IMHO, they lost the "normal" user (AKA non-geek) point of view, introducing very specialistic feature, cleaning of source, improvement in speed, but still remain many ugly interface defects that make this software less easy to use for a simple user (like my parents) vs old (but easier) word 97/2000. I find horrible having non resizeable window in some option window, ugly the way to redefine toolbar or keyboard, also worse the macro interface, but also lacking a simple way to put line pages (centered in bottom) without knowing about fields & c. or not hint as file name the first line of the document or a way to save/transfer easily configuration from one computer to another (also better by clouds). I'd like to show OO to my friends saying "It's easier than your old Word": hope I will soon! If I can help, I'm here. You can ;-) I think this is a very good statement (!). I would suggest to make single, concrete suggestions, discuss these and - if some agreement - put them as mail to the developer list, or directly write feature tasks. Maybe think about a starting label for tasks and eMails (like '[sidebar]' (with the parantheses) was used for sidebar development. Make something up e.g. '[UiSImplification]' (probably too long). Use that label in eMails as start for the title and for bug reports/feature tasks as well to easily reference them. HTH!
