Dear Mechtilde
It is not suggested to terminate Base.
But separating it from the suite and developing it in its own pace.
There is a big bug gap in the popular parts of the suite that can not be
neglected by the rarely used part of the suite.
Regards,
Edwin

R: Getting started with OpenOffice Base (tutorial)

2013-06-29 Thread Raffaello Palandri
I regularly use Base and I suggest it to people who are looking for a free
alternative to Access.
As Access, Base is not he most user friendly software of the OpenOffice
package, but it works fine for several applications.
If needed, after I will have ended my exams on July 11th, I'm in !!

Ogg: Getting started with OpenOffice Base (tutorial)

I think one of the challenges of testing OpenOffice Base is that not
many people use it. We're all familiar with word processors,
spreadsheets and presentations, but not everyone uses databases.

I look on the wiki for QA Testing Preferences:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/QA+Testing+Preferences

And I see that almost no one says they know Base, but many say they
are willing to learn.

Well Now is the time to learn ;-)

I looked around for good tutorials and saw many recomendations for
"Base Tutorial: From Newbie to Advocate in a one, two... three!" by
Mariano Casanova:

http://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?p=201074#p201074

So maybe we can accomplish two things at once? If a few of us work
through the tutorial on AOO 4.0, then we can teach ourselves Base,
while testing the functionality described in the tutorial at the same
time.

What do you think? Who can help?

Hello Edwin,
hello at all,

Bass is not as much used as e.g Writer. But I know many people included
me who use Base and are glad that we have such a tool in a free office
suite (free as in freedom)

Kind regards

If no one use it, why not remove from suite?
Why waste time on Base instead of improving Writer or Calc?
