Just found [1] on [2] - you don't happen to know her, do you? ;)

[2] has also links to shutterstock (whatever that is) - if the arrow in [3]
started in Alaska, we'd even have our Q.

I quite like the idea of having the uantum and GIS bits in the logo but
that is just my personal taste.

I think we need to stick with the Q for branding reasons, but open to ideas.

Do we need Q(uantum) (GIS) in the logo at all? Most of the logos are just that.

I like the idea in the logo with the curved arrow from alaska[1]. Maybe
something
like that around a globe - and if there really need to be a Q the globe and the
arrow could probably form it.

2013-04-14 Thread Anita Graser
Hi Nathan,

I think #64 by Andyzendy would work better if there was a little more space
between the Q and the u. They are really close now.
Also #50 used RGB: 43, 42, 41 which looks more sophisticated than the pure
black in #64.

I also get what Mathieu said about the typical "web mapping marker" and
that it could be misleading.

Best wishes,
Anita

[Qgis-developer] qgis nightly crashing

2013-04-14 Thread maning sambale
Hi,

Updating from nightly build in Ubuntu Precise today, I can't load my
projects. Even adding a vector layer in a new project makes it crash.
 The error from terminal is below:

Warning: loading of qt translation failed [/usr/share/qt4/translations/qt_en_PH]
/usr/bin/qgis.bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/bin/qgis.bin: undefined
symbol: _ZNK10QgsProject13readListEntryERK7QStringS2_11QStringListPb

Everything worked OK since two days ago.

Re: [Qgis-developer] [Qgis-psc] Logo

2013-04-14 Thread Nathan Woodrow
Hey All,

We are starting some really nice looking logos in the logo comp. There are
a few there that I really like. We can give feedback and ratings to any of
the logos in order to shape the direction that the designers take. By the
looks of it only I can comment and rate however once we have a few more
designs and are down to a few styles I can run a poll to gather better
feedback.

At the moment what I would ask is for everyone to have a look over what has
been submitted and send me a email with any feedback you would like me to
give to the designer, remember to include the id of the logo so I know
which one you are talking about.

There is still 4 days left in first round which means we can still get the
designs to go in the direction that we like.

Here a few of my picks:

[Qgis-developer] WMS Server plugin

2013-04-14 Thread Barry Rowlingson
Did I dream it, or was there once a plugin that offered up the layers
of a running Qgis Desktop as a WMS (or some other W?S)?

I was hoping for a lightweight way of offering Qgis maps as a web
service without needing apache and the qgis fcgi map server.

Can't find anything like it now. Did I dream it?

 Agreed! I'm only sorry that I can't devote any time to keeping my old
bsrplugins up to date with changes in Qgis. Some of them (selectplus)
have got that functionality in the core now, which is a good thing.

 Of my other plugins, the popular ones seem to be autosave (which does
regular backup saves of the current project file) and topocolour
(which colours polygons so that adjacent polys are coloured
differently).

 My hope was that autosave functionality would become something in the
core - is this happening?

 topocolour needs a good rewrite for the new symbology plus other API
changes. Any volunteers?

Re: [Qgis-developer] Adding The Selection of Image Type To WMS Setup?

2013-04-14 Thread Bruce, Bob (CON)
Jürgen,
Thanks for getting back to me on this. I cannot seem to find where I
can select the image type when I connect to my WMS server. Could you please
help me to locate this feature?

My WMS server is:
   http://nis.cubewerx.com/cubewerx/cubeserv.cgi?CONFIG=OIM_MB_-_Orthophoto

My GetCapabilities request returns image formats of:

image/png
image/png; PhotometricInterpretation="PaletteColor"
image/png; PhotometricInterpretation="RGB"
image/png; PhotometricInterpretation="BlackIsZero"
image/tiffimage/tiff;
PhotometricInterpretation="PaletteColor"
image/tiff; PhotometricInterpretation="RGB"
image/tiff; PhotometricInterpretation="BlackIsZero"
image/gif
image/jpeg
image/x-jpegorpng
image/x-portable-anymap
image/x-portable-pixmap
image/x-portable-graymap
application/x-cubewerx-wkb; version="3"
application/x-cubewerx-wkb; version="3";
PhotometricInterpretation="PaletteColor"
application/x-cubewerx-wkb; version="3";
PhotometricInterpretation="RGB"
application/x-cubewerx-wkb; version="3";
PhotometricInterpretation="BlackIsZero"
application/vnd.google-earth.kml+xml
application/vnd.google-earth.kml+bxml; bxmlVersion="0.0.8"

but I don't see how to select these.

As for the user-agent string, we are not seeing anything on the server in the
HTTP header to let us know that it is coming from QGIS, however that would not
be important to us to know if we could select the image type when we add the
WMS layer.

thanks,
   Bob Bruce

No, because it's already there. If a WMS server offers multiple formats you
can select the one you want in the wms selection dialog.

Supporting that image type shouldn't be a problem. Everything the server
supplies is passed to QImage and that transparently figures out what format it
is - the format selection is only used to form the request.

Hm, sounds like two new features. Can you rephrase it as a bug? ;)

We could have QgsNetworkManager set a different or a configurable User-Agent
string. That way almost all requests should have it - should be easy, but I'm
not sure if that's a good thing for everything - as we also use that in the
form widget and there at least a different user agent string might hurt.

The question is how many different agents, we need - per provider? per server?
combinations?...

2013-04-14 Thread Werner Macho
Hi
In my opinion we should just sum up those information.. Merge all similar
parts to have one (and probably the newest) information.
Make the information "timeless" and delete all old parts..
So it's somehow consolidating and getting rid of old and useless things.

Greetings from the airport ;-)

Hi all.
I started cleanup of the wiki.
What sould we do with the old, historic material? A number of pages
are about the release checklist and release specifications for old
versions. Moreover, the list is not complete.
I think this is static information of very little practical use, so we
could either remove it from the web (perhaps keeping it somewhere as a
backup text file), or move it to Governance docs.
The problem in keeping it accessible is that users will get confused
by obsolete information.
Please let me know your opinion, so I can do most of the cleanup today.
Not an huge task once we decided the guidelines.
Thanks.

[Qgis-developer] GUI bug in DEM tools and duplication in Terrain Analysis plugin

2013-04-14 Thread Anita Graser

Hi,

Due to a bug in the GUI, DEM tools are currently unusable with certain
rasters (those with x/y in degrees and z in meters/feet):
http://hub.qgis.org/issues/7599

In general, DEM tools and Terrain Analysis plugin cover pretty much the
same ground. Are there plans to remove any of the two or will the both
stay? I'm asking because I wonder which one to recommend to newbies.

Best wishes,
Anita
