[Qgis-developer] Digitization change in upcoming 2.0

2013-07-29 Thread Denis Rouzaud

Dear QGIS users,

On today's master and upcoming QGIS 2.0, the behaviour of the
right-click in digitization has changed.

Instead of adding a vertex and finishing the digitization, *it now only
finishes the **digitization without adding any vertex*.

We understand it is quite a change for long-time users, but we believe
this behaviour is much more intuitive, and that users will get used to
it very quickly.

Best regards,

Denis

[Qgis-developer] Fixing blockers & high priority bugs

2013-07-29 Thread Paolo Cavallini

Hi all.
I think Andreas initiative of sponsoring Juergen work focused on fixing
important
bugs has been a great success (thanks for this!); we are around 10 blockers now,
several of them related, and another 40+ tickets of high importance. I assume
the
budget has been consumed by now, so what are our plans now? Should we keep on
with
another week, or do we have another strategy?
All the best.

Hi all.
I suspect this may be due to its bounding box; however, I have form the canvas
a Xmax
of 17087388, and I set up on the OWS properties 19472183 to prevent this.
Original data are in 4326, with
xMin, yMin -25.6707,-35.2822 : xMax,yMax 149.129,57.6651
Any help would be appreciated: could this be a bug, or a local config problem?
Thanks a lot.
All the best.

[Qgis-developer] Get rid of duplicate functionality: line decoration

2013-07-29 Thread Andreas Neumann

Hi,

I just opened http://hub.qgis.org/issues/8379

We should really get rid of duplicate functionality. Everything that
can be done with "line decoration" can be done with the more powerful
"marker line".

Are people using "line decoration"? Can we remove it?

Andreas

matplotlib is lower-level, surely would require (much) more work to do the
same, and I'm not sure if it supports interactivity between spline
parameters changed by the user in a slider, and interpolated spline curve a
plot.
In guiqwt is is almost all made.

Hi,

I would suggest you to check for the presence of the module when the plugin
starts and give the user instructions to install it.

If the module is small, you could also consider to include it in the plugin
distribution and add the folder to sys.path to allow inclusion.

[Qgis-developer] plugin requiring guiqwt

2013-07-29 Thread Mauro Alberti
Hi all,
I've created a tool in Python, that requires guiqwt for the interactive
graphical definition of spline parameters. I would like to include it into
a plugin of mine (for Qgis 1.8), that currently does not require any
non-standard Python module.
I don't know what could be the best way, mainly from the user point-of
view, for managing the absence of this module in QGIS Python.

Thanks for any suggestion,

Hi Arun,

When coding the new plugin manager recently, I was thinking how to cooperate
with you to not duplicate the code. Finally I don't decided to consult with
you at that stage, because - due to a time pression - I had to focus on the
architecture, reusing as much as possible from the old code, postponing any
nicer gui for 2.1.

Unfortunately I don't plan to assign much time to the manager/installer during
your current GSoC period and I even haven't compiled your branch yet (shame on
me!), however, if you have any ideas how to include the plugin management to
the common framework, I'd be happy to cooperate. The manager is accessible
from Python, however, I don't consider it as any public API, so we still can
change it quite much in QGIS 2.1

Anyway, I haven't found any common way for presenting items. For plugins, I've
found the simple name list + www browser for details the most suitable, while
for styles probably a rich list would be better. Code snippets may be closer
to plugins though...

What do you think about it all?

Borys.

[Qgis-developer] before a RFC... how to develop WMS retry?

2013-07-29 Thread Gino Pirelli
Hi

I'm evaluating a work about managing tile download retry during a WMS request.

Analyzing the code there are different solutions
A) implementing a new requet in QgsWmsProvider::tileReplyFinished if
ther is an error (probabilly it's better to re-organize the logic of
this routine because there are too many exit points)
B) adding a configuration method in QgsNetworkAccessManager(subclass
of QNetworkAccessManager) adding managing of retry. In this case all
QGis can use this feature.

I noticed that the option parameter:
Settings->Options->Network->Timeout for network requests (ms)
configure only QgsHttpTransaction::httpTransaction(...) call that is
ONLY used inside mapserver core plugin code (option name is at lest
not comprensible)

Timeout could be another configuration parameter added to
QgsNetworkAccessManager.
Timeout managing could be managed as here:
http://qt-project.org/forums/viewthread/15222
that is the same solution used in QgsHttpTransaction

thanks, Lugi Pirelli (luigi.pire...@faunalia.it)
