It could be something generic until then. If you want, I can whip

Right now, any users checking out the latest nightly are presented with a
splash that denotes 1.9 (assuming they have the splash turned on) instead
of 2.1. Not a big deal, but could confuse some users.

Maybe replace that with a new layout that will basically be the same as
when the Brighton photo is included? May be good to have the layout's
style

be similar to the new stable version's splash, e.g. square corners and
choice of font; but, not too similar, so it is easy to see at a glance
which version you have launched.

Larry

Hi Swapan,

You can have a look at the QGIS source code on github [1]
It is hard to tell, if it suits your needs. For rendering, creating and
editing shape files you would not need to adjust the software at all
and could just use it as is, without messing with the source code at
all.
There would also highly customize it to your needs by using the
customization menu. [2] Or you could even build an own application
using these libraries if you see a reason for doing so. [3]

FYI: It is not using OpenGL at all (apart from the globe plugin)

Matthias

[Qgis-developer] QgsLegend: How to have display Pixmaps with different size?

2013-09-07 Thread Gino Pirelli
Hi

I'm working/investigating hwo to add WMS legend (GetLegendGraphics) in the
legend tree (QgsLegend : QTreeWidget)

**the context:
I've a WMS legend that is a pixmap because of is obtained usiging
GetLegendGraphic WMS call.
I want to show this legend as in the attached image:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12837459/WMSLegend.png

**problems:
as you can see in the image I'm able to display the legend pixmap, doing
setIcon for the Item (Aka QgsLegendSymbolgyItem) and setSize in QTreeWidget
(AKA QgsLegend)
In this way all the icons are set to the same Size (WRONG!)

**the QT way?:
in QT literature the solution is adding a QStyleItemDelegate or
QItemDelegate to the QTreeWidget (QgsLegend). In this delegate I can choose
how to display and size all I want overloading paint and sizeHint methods.

**The architectural problem:
The problem I found is that adding an ItemDelegate it works for all
elements displayed in the Tree, but the actual architecture of the Legend
draw it's element in different code sites... (QgsLegend has different
architecture form the Legend in Composer)

**Solutions?
There is someone that solved or approached this problem?

Thank you and see you in Brighton, Luigi Pirelli (luigi.pire...@faunalia.it)

I like the layout and color selection. Not sure I understand the leaf (?)
background, though QGIS is used quite a bit for forestry and bio-sciences.

Just a thought: maybe instead try a bunch of translucent icons (new icons
for add layers?) floating/swirling around. I realize this is just an
interim splash, but could be something like that might make a good graphic
for the web site as well. That really is one of QGIS strongest core
features: its ability to work with so many providers, both open and
proprietary. Plus those new layer icons look good.

If the new group photo is similar to the last two (a row or two of faces),
then the use of both dev and master words in the layout means dev may cover
some faces. 'Master' is really from git nomenclature, while dev is probably
more commonly understood. So, I suggest just removing master and lowering
dev to make more room for the photo. Maybe try dev in the master's yellow,
then.

Larry

Re: [Qgis-developer] HF programme

2013-09-07 Thread Tim Sutton
Hi Saber

Thanks for getting the room - can you confirm what the room availability
hours will be on that page? Normal expectation is that the room should be
open until the last man drops - though maybe there are transport or other
limiting factors to how late we can use the venue?

Also It would be nice if we can eat most of our evening meals in-situ (and
definately lunches) so that those who want to burn their eyeballs with QGIS
code can get a proper chance to do so.

Regards

Tim
