2014-03-31 Thread Geo DrinX
Hello All,

I just released a new version of DronePlanner plugin for QGis , that
solves some error during area path calculations.

For who do not know it, DronePlanner permits so simulate photogrammetric
flight paths for Drones.

Please, test it and approve it, if you like.

Hi ,
Some questions here since French users are really interested in that work,
and need some info before being able to fund some work :

- I saw Lutra Consulting calls for fundings on that item. Is the budget
fullfilled or are you still looking for funds? [
- We previously discussed of legend for size varying symbols and diagrams

- Can some give us some conclusions of what what said in codesprint legend
workgroup on this? (sorry for not being able to come and contribute there)

[Qgis-developer] selection tool behavior

2014-03-31 Thread Giovanni Manghi
Hi all

I have been pointed that the selection tool (select by rectangle)
unselects features already selected even when the ctrl is pressed.
This way a user can add a selection to the existing one, but only if
it carefully avoids the already selected features, and most of the
times is very hard to do.

What do you think?

cheers

Re: [Qgis-developer] selection tool behavior

2014-03-31 Thread Ramon Andiñach
That's usually where I break out the polygon select tool - which is quite handy
for places where you need to be careful.

The unselect already selected behaviour is true for all the selection tools -
so at least it's consistent.

Sometimes I get annoyed at accidentally unselecting stuff, but more often I'm
glad that I have a way of unselecting blocks of features without having to
start again.

Re: [Qgis-developer] selection tool behavior

2014-03-31 Thread Alexandre Neto
Hello,

I find it also annoying, and not in the line of how other software do
(e.g., Inkscape). In Inkscape if you press Ctrl while rectangle select it
will always add features to the selection, If you click over an element
(still pressing Ctrl) it will toggle selection on and off for that
particular element.

An alternative could be:
- Using Ctrl would toggles selection on and off (the current behavior)
- Using Shift or Ctrl+Shift would add to selection;

(Or vice-versa)

Cheers,

Alexandre Neto

Re: [Qgis-developer] Requirements for QGIS desktop

2014-03-31 Thread Alex Mandel
You haven't found min. requirements because QGIS can run on really old
hardware. I see it doing ok on netbooks (aside from occasional dialog
window size issues).

So short answer if it can run Win 7, Mac OS X, or Linux 2006+ then it's
probably fine for QGIS. In reality most Windows XP machines also work.
http://osgeo-org.1560.x6.nabble.com/Re-Is-Quantum-GIS-compatible-with-Windows-7-64-bit-td4133870.html

Of course if you want a machine that will run GIS well in everyday use
http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/23300/specifications-for-gis-desktop-hardware

Quick summary for a GIS professional:
i5+, 4GB ram, discrete graphics not necessary with i5 HD4000+ but a 1 GB
card is nice or more ram if using the i5 built in, 100 GB - 1 TB free
space (GIS layers get big and you make lots of copies)

64 bit OS, pick your flavor.

Enjoy,
Alex

One upon a time there was a plugin for this

No idea if it's actively maintained. Could use some love. It had quite a

The biggest problem of pgvs is that it is based on on replacing table by a
view, which than is edited by rules and triggers. I always through that
it could be done in better way for example using some copies of table in
user's schema which will be merged to master table when editing is
finished.

[Qgis-developer] Postgis Caching - Enhancement

2014-03-31 Thread Alex Mandel
Searching tickets I don't see this one, but wanted to check that it
wasn't on the roadmap.

Often when working with Postgis layers, it's a read-only relationship
directly to a table or view that is not expected to change anytime soon.
To speed up panning/zooming etc we should implement and optional caching
mechanism (maybe this is a general feature for all vector providers?).

It's one of the only things I've seen OpenJump do that QGIS doesn't do
at all. See the Check box in the add table dialog - Cache Features
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/jump-pilot/index.php?title=Working_with_Databases

Topic comes up often:
http://gis.stackexchange.com/q/46967/3183
There are plenty of previous conversations like this around.

If it's not anywhere in the plans I'll be happy to open a ticket.

Thanks,
Alex
