As writer of proposal 12) ENHANCE INTEROPERABILITY BETWEEN QGIS AND X3D
(full details here:
https://qgisblog.files.wordpress.com/2017/04/qgisgrantapplicationssummary-march2017.pdf,
proposal 12)
, although unsuccessful, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the
QGIS Voting Membership and Sterring Committee for taking the time to read
through all proposal and cast votes. I recognize that having two 3d related
proposals made it difficult to support both at the same time with so many
other deserving projects also in the mix. Therefore, I do value the votes
in support of my proposal particularly. Thanks !

If you are curious, please head over to

https://github.com/andreasplesch/QGIS-X3D-Processing

to follow progress on this project. Any feedback, or contributions are much
appreciated.

Here is an example DEM export using the existing functionality:

Hi,

Apologies for the delay in my reply. The talk was accepted for FOSS4G 2017
Boston, and Kurt / myself will be co-presenting.

The "State of QGIS" talk abstract is attached. I will be bringing this topic up
with the community to gather contributor feedback on overall content and
direction, since the talk should represent community viewpoints and cover
topics the community thinks it should.

Hey Larry,

I have some slides from my talk just recently in New Zealand if you want to use
some of it. The slide deck uses the new logo and style guide which looks
pretty good.

You can find the slides here:

Hi Tim, Andreas, et al.,

Thank you for the quick replies and support. I will submit a "State of QGIS"
talk today. Regardless of whether it is accepted, I will probably be in
attendance at FOSS4G Boston.

Great!

Note that I intend this talk to be completely vetted by the community. I will
be posting to the dev list with requests for comments, opinions and suggestions
on content. While I will be working on this talk at work (assuming it is
accepted), it will purely be about and for the community's efforts, with
absolutely no content related to my employer, excepting to thank them for
supporting my attendance to the event.

Thanks that sounds great.

I could get someone from work to help with the talk, or be a backup; though, I
would definitely prefer someone from the QGIS dev community to help in this
regard, ideally someone who does not also work for my employer.

I'd be happy to help compiling your slides / reviewing them etc. I guess Kurt
Menke might be going along - you might want to touch base with him to hear if
he is going - he isn't a developer but he is very up to speed with QGIS and the
QGIS community activities. Hopefully anyone else on the dev list who is going
will pipe up and pitch in if they can.

Anyone attending FOSS4G Boston and willing to help out? If so, I need to know
today. Thanks.

Regards

Tim

If not I will be going and am willing to put in a proposal for such a talk,

Hi

You may also want to peek at the changelog - there is not too much there
yet but it might give some nice hints of things to mention:
