[QGIS-Developer] Vector tiles

2018-02-26 Thread Tom Chadwin
Hello all

Congratulations to everyone for an amazing release. Massive.

Now looking forward, are vector tiles under consideration in the future?
There is a plugin for 2.x which has been partially migrated to 3 (as I
understand it). However, Even also announced on gdal-dev that native OGR
support for MBVT was now implemented.

So, do we have any thoughts on timescale for upping GDAL/OGR to a release
which will include this new support? And what development is required in
QGIS beyond what OGR gives us?

Thanks

Tom

[QGIS-Developer] Status of transaction support in Geopackages

2018-02-26 Thread Andreas Neumann
Hi,

We would like to see transaction support in QGIS 3x for geopackages. We
want to hand out geopackages and QGIS project files, for external
parties to edit data for us - without the need that the third-party has
PostgreSQL installed. The projects all use relations.

Before we test ourselves, I thought it might make sense to ask what the
status or plans are for transaction support in Geopackages?

Should it already be supported? If not - is someone planning to work on
it?

Thanks for your replies,

Hi Radim,

All those wiki pages were in the old Redmine instance that we run on our
old server.

Because of spam troubles in that wiki, we decided to NOT create the wiki
in the new updated Redmine instance which we run on our current server.

If it is really important, we can resurrect pages for you from the
database dump that we have from the old Redmine.

Please let me know if you want that.

Richard Duivenvoorde

Hi Andreas,
by transaction support, you mean "transaction group" support ? The one
that allows to edit all the layers in one unique transaction and evaluate
triggers on the fly?

If not, I'm not sure to understand what is lacking currently for your use
case.

Nothing is planned here however.

[QGIS-Developer] Rasterization of a polygon

2018-02-26 Thread Diaz Loaiza, M.A.

Dear QGIS developers,

I was having a shapefile of polygons with integer numbers between 0 and 33122
(33123 elements of long integers of arcgis). Then I was applying the
rasterization function (raster>conversion>rasterize) and I was discovering that
the numbers over the output raster were between 0 and 32767 plus other 354
clusters of cells with negative values (between 0 and -32768).

as is explained in this python documentation of;

https://docs.scipy.org/doc/numpy-1.10.0/user/basics.types.htmlhttps://docs.scipy.org/doc/numpy-1.10.0/user/basics.types.html

the int16 arrays only can contain numbers between -32768 and 32767, reason why
the cells of the polygons with numbers higher than 32767 were negative.

I was searching over the rasterization tool previously mentioned and there was
no option to change the output format (to choose an int32 or higher format).

My question is: is there anyway to prevent this error? Can it be possible to
add this option over the tool rasterize in order that the user can choose which
format will be the output?.

Thank you very much,

Andres Diaz

Hi Patrick,

You are correct, this data is stored in the project file. If the project

There is definitely a good reason to report an issue, because the app
crashed. Please provide as much information as possible that can help as
a lead why this happened (a backtrace of the crash being the most useful
one; and an exact description of at what point and after what actions it
happened being inevitable).

To avoid loss of work, there is an autosaver plugin
(https://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/autoSaver/) that regularly saves the
project configuration. I'm not sure it's updated to QGIS 3 yet.

Given I can't produce a corrupted project file (I can only produce the
files for the affected laye) is there any point in filing a bug for this.

Good evening (here)

I had Qgis 2.99 crash and it left the shape file data with three of

Although renaming the files got the data back, the value maps and
default values for new features for this layer have disappeared.

Is there a particular file that stores this data for the layer
(before I decide whether this could be a bug or not)?

Thanks

Thanks Nathan,

good idea.

@allDevs: please add some (preliminary) text (and if possible picture
there there) for every new feature you code.

OR

In case of a new feature a new issue is automatically created here:
https://github.com/qgis/QGIS-Documentation/issues and tagged 'QGIS 3.2'
Please always add some information/screenies/hints for doc writers when
you add a new feature. It is MUCH more efficient if a doc writer can
take some text and rewrite it, then guessing what the new Feature was
and is forced to ask the dev halve a year later...

Re: [QGIS-Developer] Status of transaction support in Geopackages

2018-02-26 Thread Andreas Neumann
Hi Régis,

Yes - I mean the "transaction group" support. Meaning that multiple
layers can be edited together. Most important issue for us: ability to
link related tables to newly created features without asking the user to
manually save the parent table first.

This all works for Postgis now, but I think not for Geopackages - right?

Thanks,

Andreas
