Nyall, You were right. It is just missing the description file. I have created a description file for this function. Would it be best to send it to someone who is already a QGIS committer or should I attempt to do a pull request? Somebody can tell if this should be best solved in - QGIS (to create a better 'sql' string) - GDAL (fix pickyness with brackets?)
