[QGIS-Developer] Update code mantainer list on the website

2020-01-08 Thread Marco Bernasocchi
Hi all, the governance page on our website has a fairly outdated code
maintainer list

https://github.com/qgis/QGIS-Website/blob/master/source/site/getinvolved/governance/governance.rst#code-maintainers

Could all code maintainers head there and update it? you can assign me
your pull requests.

or, do we maybe not need that list anymore?

Cheers

Marco

Re: [QGIS-Developer] Update code mantainer list on the website

2020-01-08 Thread Paolo Cavallini
Hi Marco,
thanks for the review. I'm not sure people still feel responsible for a
specific area of code. If we are unable to enforce, even mildly, this,
IMHO better get rid of the list.
Cheers.

[QGIS-Developer] Does QGIS utilize the statistics of cloud optimized GeoTIFF?

2020-01-08 Thread Rahkonen Jukka (MML)
Hi,

QGIS is setting the default contrast stretch reasonably If I read a GeoTIFF
file from a local file. Statistics are included in the image through the GDAL
tags
Tag 42112:
  0
  -10.126687384969
  -71.313484191895
  9.6992444829123
  11.53

However, if I open the same file through http the image opens with an estimated
range between -12153 and 909. Forcing QGIS to read the whole raster for
finding the proper data range with the symbology settings is very slow. Does
QGIS even try to find the existing statistics when image is opened or is
something going wrong with this URL:
http://latuviitta.kapsi.fi/data/jarvi_dem/saimaa_dem.tif?

Re: [QGIS-Developer] icons for remove/delete actions

2020-01-08 Thread Robert Szczepanek

Dear Raymond,

It is hard sometimes to follow fuzzy rules, especially in such large
projects like QGIS, with so many contributors.
I am not the author of 'traffic sign' icons group, and cannot easily
define the associated metaphor.

Perhaps we should review the current state of overall toolbar icons
consistency and try to improve it somehow.

Thank you for paying attention.

regards,
Robert

Thank you Robert!

Interesting to read that pdf as well. However it doesn't contain
"traffic sign" icons, which are the ones I found mostly in QGIS.

So in short:

- Non-destructive removal (hide)
x Destructive removal (delete)
ø QGIS removal?

Kind regards,
Raymond

Dear Raymond,

The initial idea creating GIS icons set was to define generic actions.

1. Remove
https://github.com/Cracert/GIS-icons/blob/master/24x24/layer-remove.png
Non-destructive operation.
You add a layer to composition, then you remove it.

2. Delete
https://github.com/Cracert/GIS-icons/blob/master/24x24/layer-delete.png
Destructive operation.
You create a layer, then you delete it.

More detailed description you can find in this article:

Many icons in QGIS have little shields specifying what kind of
action

they represents, like adding, editing and removing. For removing and
deleting things, I found 3 different shields though, a cross, a
traffic

    sign and a minus.

What is the logic for these 3? A difference in removing or
deleting or

    hiding maybe?
Or is this just caused by QGIS's evolution? In that case, what
    should be
the right shield to use now?

    See attached screenshot
