Use pg_services.

This is not tested, but I think it should work

Enable host based access for local connections via the server IP address in
your pg_hba file and use this for all QGIS access, so you apply the same access
approach for both local & remote connections.

Subject: [Qgis-user] Project files with local and remote connections to

Hi,

I am having a basic problem with my project files. I usually run qgis
locally, where the PostgreSQL database is. However, sometimes I need to
have these same projects run on a remote computer (where a version a
qGIS is locally installed, but the connection to the database is
remote). And then the project file 'doesn't work' because the expected
connection to the database is locally not remotely, and I have not
figured out how to modify this parameter when the project is loaded in
qGIS. My current work around is to create a specific project for the
remote computer.

However this solution is annoying when you have plenty of composers that
you lose in the process ... and playing directly in the xml project file
is a bit scary ...
Anybody would have an idea how to fix the problem?

Re: [Qgis-user] How to fix 'Could not find the Qt platform plugin “Windows” in “”' when implementing qgis in custom Python3 application?

2019-01-10 Per discussione Matt Brauer
Thanks! That did work. I had tried modifying QT_QPA_PLATFORM_PLUGIN_PATH
earlier, but it didn't work so I didn't look back. I think at that time I
had tried it with the standalone QGIS install. That may have had a
detrimental effect, although I don't know why that would be the case.

Modifying the QT_QPA_PLATFORM_PLUGIN_PATH to point to ~\apps\Qt5\plugins
directory did the trick.

to your issue on Windows, but I had to set another Qt path. See this gist:

[Qgis-user] How to fix 'Could not find the Qt platform plugin “Windows” in “”' when implementing qgis in custom Python3 application?

2019-01-10 Per discussione Matt Brauer
I am implementing qgis 3.4.3 in a custom application, but when I
instantiate the QgsApplication() class, I receive the error "Could not find
the Qt platform plugin "Windows" in "".

I've attempted using various installs of qgis 3.x+ including the standalone
installer and OSGeo4W web installer. I currently am sticking with the
OSGeo4W web installer installation. I am using a Python 3.7 installation
separate from what comes with OSGeo4W and attempting to integrate qgis
functionality.

I have followed the instructions in the following QGIS help doc under the
section: "Using PyQGIS in Custom Applications"
https://docs.qgis.org/2.18/en/docs/pyqgis_developer_cookbook/intro.html#run-python-code-when-qgis-starts

After attempting to run the script I realized a dll plugin was missing.
After some research, I found its the qwindows.dll that qt uses. The
qwindows.dll is included in the OSGeo4W installation under:
C:\OSGeo4W\apps\Qt5\plugins\platforms

I changed the QT_PLUGIN_PATH variable on the local command prompt to
include the directory above, but the same error prevailed. I also changed
the QT_DEBUG_PLUGINS variable to 1 which printed out the locations Qt is
looking for plugins. Interestingly, it wasn't looking for plugins in the
path I specified in the QT_PLUGIN_PATH variable.

Python Code:

import sys#add qgis python libraries to instance python path in case
not added #at the environment variable %PYTHONPATH% level
sys.path.extend(['C:\\OSGeo4W\\apps\\qgis\\python',
'C:\\OSGeo4W\\apps\\Python37\\Lib\\site-packages'])
from qgis.core import *
# supply path to qgis install
locationQgsApplication.setPrefixPath('C:\\OSGeo4W\\apps\\qgis', True)
# create a reference to the QgsApplication# setting the second
argument to True enables the GUI, which we need to do# since this is a
custom application
qgs = QgsApplication([], True)
# load providers
qgs.initQgis()
# Write your code here to load some layers, use processing algorithms, etc.
# When your script is complete, call exitQgis() to remove the provider
and# layer registries from memory
qgs.exitQgis()

Batch File Code to Start Cmd Prompt with Proper Variables:

@echo off
SET OSGEO4W_ROOT=C:\OSGeo4W::Include environment variables set by qgis
on startup
call %OSGEO4W_ROOT%\bin\o4w_env.bat
call %OSGEO4W_ROOT%\bin\qt5_env.bat
call %OSGEO4W_ROOT%\bin\py3_env.bat@echo off
path %PATH%;%OSGEO4W_ROOT%\apps\qgis\bin
path %PATH%;C:\OSGeo4W\apps\Qt5\bin
path %PATH%;C:\OSGeo4W\apps\Python37\Scripts
path %PATH%;C:\OSGeo4W\apps\Python37

set PYTHONPATH=%PYTHONPATH%;%OSGEO4W_ROOT%\apps\qgis\python
set PYTHONHOME=%OSGEO4W_ROOT%\apps\Python37
set
QT_PLUGIN_PATH=%OSGEO4W_ROOT%\apps\Qt5\plugins;%OSGEO4W_ROOT%\apps\qgis\qtplugins
set QT_DEBUG_PLUGINS=1

cmd.exe

I expect to run the python script and receive no errors since I'm pointing
to the directory where the qwindows.dll missing plugin is stored. However,
I am still receiving the missing windows plugin error.

Here is the actual message with QT_DEBUG_PLUGINS set to 1:
QFactoryLoader::QFactoryLoader() checking directory path
"C:/OSGeo4W/apps/qgis/qtplugins/platforms" ...
QFactoryLoader::QFactoryLoader() checking directory path
"C:/OSGeo4W/apps/Python37/platforms" ... qt.qpa.plugin: Could not find the
Qt platform plugin "windows" in "" This application failed to start because
no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application
may fix this problem.

Mai successo in vari
anni di utilizzo..
Grazie a tutti

[Qgis-user] QGIS 3 - Postgres Authentication Issue

2019-01-10 Per discussione Ungerboeck, Erhard
Hello,

we are using QGIS with a Postgres database where each different user (in total
about 20 ) each have their own login credentials. Since we changed from QGIS
2.18 to QGIS 3 when opening a project QGIS always asks for the login data
twice. I didn't change anything in the database / server. This is rather
annoying, any ideas how I can change that or can find further information /
help?

Best regards,
Erhard

you can better use this expression:  array_get(string_to_array(
"Koordinater" ),0)  for the first coordinate

When I runt this in the field calculator from the attribute table, I get

[Qgis-user] Selecting a part of an attribute

2019-01-10 Per discussione johnrobot
Hi
I have an attribute (named "Koordinater") with coordinate pairs, such as
"6417192.227, 326926.702", and I would like to exctract the two coordinates
into separate attributes. Using the field calculator seems to be the way to
do this, for example:

left( "Koordinater", strpos( "Koordinater" , ','))

When I runt this in the field calculator from the attribute table, I get
"6417192.227", but when I run the field calculator in Processing with the
same configuration, I get "6417192.227,". Note the extra "," at the end. Am
I missing something or could this be a bug? I use QGIS 3.4.3, 64 bit, on
Windows 10.

Regards,

Magnus

Hi

I had the exactly same problem some days ago.

There is a note on the download page of Qgis saying this is expected and
that there is 4 ways to handle it. I choose to revert to nightly-build
repos.

Does anyone know when updated qt packages will be available, so that
QGIS 3.4.x will be installable on debian buster?

Hi Micha/Juergen,

I'm on Buster, and compile 2.18, 3.4 regularly and master almost daily.

I don't know the packaging details, but is qtbase-abi (still?) a
necessary dependency or is it maybe possible to remove it?

@Micha happy to sent you some lines to compile it and install it in your
home dir, after the first steps it is pretty easy to do. You can have a
daily fresh backed master version then :-)

Re: [Qgis-user] resolved QGIS 3 - Deactivate "boxes" around labels

2019-01-10 Per discussione Anna Hujber

Dear Nyall,

thanks for the fast and easy help. There was no "draw label candidates"
option in that tab u described (named "Automated Placement Engine") but
I clicked on "Restore Defaults" which deactivated an option called "show
candidates (for debugging)" and resolved my problem. Maybe the "draw
label candidates" option has been renamed?

Thanks again,

Anna

They also show up in the print layout and on the exported pdf.
When I click on "new map view", though, they are not shown in the
new view. Deactivating labels and reactivating them did not change
anything. Moreover, it is something that applies to all layers, so
modifying a specific layer's label options should not bring any
solution.

From the label setting for one of your layers, look for the little
button in the top right which has a blue/yellow four arrow symbol.
Click that, and then uncheck "draw label candidates"

Nyall
