I haven't been able to find out much about the render caching feature. I 
am now running all my computer with the render caching turned off, so 
that less memory and swap resources are consumed in the computer. It 
might be intended with this feature to reduce the time delay for 
downloading tiles from a remote server for people that are using server 
based resources but would also have the (in your case) less desirable 
consequence of consuming significant amounts of data.

same technical insight as one of the developers who may be reading

I currently work with projects that use large numbers of data layers 
of raster type, however in my case they are all in files that I have 
downloaded to my computer and loading locally, rather than any type 
of data that could be accessed from an online server.


I have found in experience with working with raster layers that Qgis 
3 is handling them quite differently from previous versions (I have 
been using Qgis since 1.8). It was not until version 2.14 that I 
started working with the projects using these large numbers of raster 
images, and have been using them through 2.14, 2.16 and 2.18 and now 
in releases of version 3.


The map projects I am working on cover a part of New Zealand 
specifically a corridor around 6000 kilometres long and about 20 
metres wide which is covered by geojpeg rasters varying from 0.4 to 
0.1 metre per pixel resolution and the size of each raster is 
generally 4800x7200 pixels.


The experience I had is that Qgis 3.x appears to be caching a lot 
more raster data in memory than I saw with 2.x and it seems to be 
caching every raster in my project, not just the ones that I am 
displaying at the moment. It uses up the resources in my system a lot 
faster than 2.x ever did. And if I use larger size raster files, I 
have seen it run out of resources on the system more than once.


So in terms of the way it consumes resources for rasters, my 
experience is more related to the way I see it using up the physical 
resources on my computer like the physical or virtual memory. I ended 
up adding more RAM to my system and more swap disk space to help deal 
with the extra drain on resources that has happened since upgrading 
to version 3.


There is a section in the settings dialog that specifically relates 
to rendering. I'm not completely confident this is the type of 
situation that would be relevant to your scenario. It may affect my 
situation more if I spent some time playing with these settings 
(render caching for example) but it might not be so relevant to you, 
unless the render caching is causing the software to download a lot 
of raster data from your WMS server. You could try experimenting with 
some of those settings.

nelle opzioni della connessione WMS dovresti selezionare "Ignora la URI
GetMap/GetTitle riportata nelle capabilities".

Ciao Nino, benvenuto anche se temporaneamente nel modo macOS. Ti consiglierei
di partire direttamente dal metodo piu' semplice: 

https://www.qgis.org/it/site/forusers/download.html : --->  QGIS macOS
Installer Versione 3.6.0 - kyngchaos.com del grande William Kyngesburye.


Questa distribuzione necessita esclusivamente di Python 3.6 derivante da
https://www.python.org, non altre versione (anaconda es.) e non versioni
successive 3.7+.

Ti raccomando e' fondamentale installare Python 3.6, prima di passare alla
installazione di QGIS.

Utilizzando poi PIP, package installer (https://pypi.org/project/pip/) puoi
installare alcuni moduli Python richiesti e relative dipendenze come : 
owslib, PyYaml, psycopg2, jinja2, pygments, numpy, plotly.

E' possibile avere piu' versioni contemporaneamente certamente, sopratutto
se hai installato una versione Boundless che rappresenta un ecositema
indipendente una sorta di VM dal sistema principale e non comporta conflitti
tra variabili d'ambiente e path, tra le diverse versioni. Altrimenti bisogna
agire sulle path durante l'installazione dei rispettivi pacchetti.

Ultimamente sto testando le versioni di lutra consulting e devo dire che sta
diventando un vero e proprio punto di riferimento per gli users QGISmac
soprattutto per gli appasionati di dark mode che ne rappresenta uno degli
Highlights!
Queste le distribuzioni disponibili ad oggi:

LTR Release 3.4.5
Latest Release 3.6.0
Nightly (master)

Ad ogni modo eviterei la via homebrew, in quanto il lavoro di installazione
risulta un po' impegnativo e non e' detto che si arrivi subito a buon fine,
a partire dall'installazione di XCode preventivamente necessario. Nel caso

[QGIS-it-user] Servizio WMS del SIT Regione Lazio su QGIS. Considerazioni varie

Torno ancora una volta sul SIT della Regione Lazio, per la precisione sulle
CTR e, questa volta, volevo condividere con voi alcuni aspetti riguardanti
il sistema WMS utilizzato tramite QGIS (versione 3.4 LTR).
Per prima cosa devo premettere che, malgrado gli sforzi compiuti, non sono
ancora riuscito a reperire sul nuovo geoportale della Regione Lazio (
http://dati.lazio.it/catalog/it/dataset/2014-carta-tecnica-regionale-numerica-scala-1-5-000-provincia-di-frosinone
) l'URL per poter vedere, in QGIS, tramite il sistema WMS, la "nuova" CTR
del 2014. Mosso da pietà, un collega di un'altro Ente mi ha inviato per
email questo URL, preso chi sa da dove e che qui vi allego qualora voleste
fare qualche test:
http://geoportale.regione.lazio.it/geoserver_nsit/dbgt/wms
e, per il quale, posso afferma che sul QGIS 3.6 del collega funziona
perfettamente, ...avendolo visto io personalmente.
Caricando però questo stesso URL sul sistema WMS del mio QGIS 3.4 LTR
(Foto_1, Foto_2, Foto_3) mi da sempre, sia a casa che in ufficio, l'errore
riportato in Fig_4.
*Che tipo di errore è?*. E dovuto al sistema della Regione, a QGIS o sto
sbagliando qualcosa io?
Credo sia utile precisare che, allo stesso tempo, caricando nel sistema WMS
di QGIS, l'URL della vecchia CTR del 2009 (che qui vi allego qualora voleste
fare qualche test: http://cartografia.regione.lazio.it/erdas-iws/ogc/wms),
tutto funziona alla perfezione (Foto_5, da confrontare con Foto_1, Foto_6,
da confrontare con Foto_3 e Foto_7, da confrontare con Foto_4).

Ho fatto una prova per la compressione; se nella finestra di dialogo del
processo in serie clicchi sull'icona "Modalità avanzata" ti appare
un'ulteriore colonna "Opzione di creazione aggiuntive". Lì ho messo
COMPRESS=JPEG|JPEG_QUALITY=75 e sembra funzionare. Sostanzialmente se
esegui l'algoritmo singolo su un file, ci metti le opzioni che vuoi e poi
ti copi e incolli dal log dell'algoritmo eseguito le opzioni aggiuntive,
credo funzioni

[QGIS-it-user] Geopack e sottocartelle

Salve, non é un problema, ma una semplice curiositá.
Sto generando un file Geopack, con l'obiettivo di avere l'inventario
completo dei layer che piú uso, e che piú mi chiedono.
Sarebbe possibile, creare una struttura ad albero, con sottocartelle
all'interno del geopack?

Non ho verificato sul tuo progetto, ad ogni modo anche nell'ultima versione
2.18.28 avviene lo stesso: ai valori NULL vengono associati i valori NULL.
Dal punto di vista sql non è corretto, ma non so se possa essere
considerato un bug in QGIS.

Buongiorno,
ho notato un comportamento differente nelle relazioni tra Qgis 3LTR e Qgis
2.18.9 (da cui sto migrando i progetti).

In particolare, nella vecchia versione, quando nei campi di riferimento
della relazione di entrambi i layer c'era valore NULLO, non veniva eseguita
alcuna associazione tra i layer e nella vista modulo non appariva
giustamente (a mio parere) alcuna corrispondenza.

In Qgis3LTR invece vengono associate nella relazione, tutte le righe che
hanno valore nullo nei campi di riferimento della relazione (in sostanza il
valore NULLO viene interpretato come un valore) con conseguente
visualizzazione nella vista modulo.

Allego lo stesso progetto in Qgis3LTR e in Qgis 2.18.9, collegati allo
stesso SHP.
esaminando la tabella in vista modulo, si può notare come nella versione
"vecchia", le pratiche da 1 a 4 non hanno corrispondenze relazionali in
quanto il campo IdRacc è nullo, mentre nella versione aggiornata, le
pratiche da 1 a 4 risultano tra loro associate.

PS la relazione l'ho impostata sullo stesso Layer duplicandolo.

Spero di essermi espresso in maniera comprensibile.

Non so se anche altri hanno riscontrato questo differente comportamento.

non avendo voglia di scrivere un file batch per la conversione di formato di
un gruppo di raster, vorrei utilizzare la funzione "converti formato" di
gdal presente in processing (qgis ltr dev).
dato che sono un bel po' di file uso l'opzione "processo in serie".
mentre nella versione "diretta a file singolo", sono presenti le opzioni per
la trasformazione del file (come ad esempio la compressione), nella versione
"processo in serie" non è possibile aggiungere alcuna opzione.
vorrei aprire un ticket ma non so se sia una regressione (ma non credo) e
quindi un bug, oppure non c'è mai stato e quindi diventa una feature
request.
qualcuno ha tempo/voglia di verficare per favore?

Buongiorno a tutti. Sono nuovo su qgis quindi probabilmente mi manca
qualche nozione di base. Ho tracciato una linea attraverso vari punti, e la
devo suddividere in tratti da colorare in modo diverso. Non capisco perchè
sono riuscito a dividere un segmento mentre su altri l'azione non funziona.
Che cosa mi sfugge?

Buongiorno,
forse ti riferisci al comando "Modifica" ---> "Spezza Geometria" (dal menù a
tendina).
Ottieni così dalla singola geometria iniziale, diverse geometrie che puoi
così tematizzare per categoria (assegnando colori diversi a ogni nuova
geometria sulla base di una colonna).
Allego qualche immaggine per spiegarmi meglio.

Per aiutarti devi aiutarci, cioè devi descrivere bene quello che fai e
quello che vuoi ottenere, magari aggiungi anche la versione di QGIS.

Hi Elena,
I do the QGIS update at least every 2 days and I never lost data or projects
...
did you save the projects in the QGIS installation directory?
if yes, in this case there is little to do, otherwise you can search through
the file manager * .qgs files or * .qgz files in your pc

[Qgis-user] problem with new version 3.6.0 Noosa: LOST PAST PROJECTS

I've just downloaded and installed new version 3.6.0 Noosa. Past version
was madeira 3.4.? Madeira. I use windows 10.
Since I've installed the new version I have lost ALL MY PAST PROJECT FILES.
I can't find them anymore in the folders of my works.
Please, how can I have them back? Why has it happened?

[Qgis-user] add unique constraint to geopackage in QGIS DB Manager

Dear list,

I would like to make an existing field in a geopackage layer unique - it 
does not contain any data at the moment. In the DB Manager (both QGIS 
2.18 and 3.4 on Windows 10) I have tried many variations of the below:


ALTER TABLE 'RUJWASCO_follow_up' ADD CONSTRAINT 'result_account_uq' 
UNIQUE('result_account');


I have written it without quotes, with double quotes, some with some 
without single and double quotes. I have written it with a space between 
UNIQUE and the bracket. First question is: is it possible to add a 
unique constraint to a geopackage layer? If yes, my second question is - 
what would be the correct syntax? (And maybe: where can I find 
documentation about geopackage sql syntax?).

Nella tabella GCP i valori Origine X e Origine Y dovrebbero 
corrispondere proprio a colonna e riga dell'immagine.

[QGIS-it-user] Installare QGIS 3 su Mac OS X

Ciao,

la settimana prossima dovrò aiutare degli amici ad installare QGIS 3 sui
loro Mac e tenuto conto che io non uso questo sistema, ma so che esistono
diversi problemi, volevo chiedere a chi invece lo usa e già si è cimentato,
qual'è ad oggi la procedura più affidabile per installare QGIS 3 LTR.
Soprattutto volevo capire se prima è sempre meglio disinstallare la QGIS 2.x
se già presente.
