Re: [Qgis-user] Qgis-user mailing list

2021-01-11 Per discussione Brent Wood
You should be able to intersect the two layers, but may have issues if they are
in different CRS's, or there are topological errors present.

If they are in different CRS's, then export one to the CRS of the other, and
generate the intersection with that one.

Also run Vector-> Geometry tools -> Check validity on each source layer to
ensure the data is valid.

The result should be a layer that has all the polygons from one split by the
other to form new polygons common to both layers, and with each of the new
polygons having all the attributes from both original layers.

Note that if you need to include the areas in the source layers that are not
common to both, you'll need to get the differences between the layers (both A-B
& B-A) and add these to the intersection.

Note that this is essentially a spatial data management question, and while
QGIS can do it perfectly well, I find it can be easier to manage the data in
Postgis tables in a database, and use Postgis SQL statements to do this, using
QGIS to see the resulting data in the map canvas.

Hi !

I am very new user of QGIS. And now have I run into difficulties.

Use the QGIS version 3.10.10

I try to combine two layers in order to receive agriculture area per different
municipalities

It seams that I do something wrong because I am not able to do that.

Do somebody have any nice and clever solution in order to solve this I would be
grateful

[Qgis-user] Visualizing multi-page GeoTIFF in QGIS

2021-01-11 Per discussione Eric Younkin - NOAA Federal
Hello,

I have a GeoTIFF that I have created in the following manner:

gdal_translate first_grid supergrid.tif

gdal_translate second_grid supergrid.tif -co APPEND_SUBDATASET=YES

Dragging this into QGIS appears to only allow me to visualize the first
dataset used. Is there some option to allow me to view all added pages?
This does seem to work if I use a GeoPackage instead of a GeoTIFF. I can
also pull in a VRT for these TIFFs and that works. I'm going the
APPEND_SUBDATASET route to construct one TIFF file that will work with PROJ
vgridshift, which appears to support multipage TIFFs.

Thanks,
Eric

Erik,

Looks like this is a limitation of the QGIS UI. If the GDAL driver exposes a
valid raster when opening the file (which it does for a multi-page GeoTIFF
file, by presenting the first page), then QGIS doesn't propose to open the
other subdatasets. The GPKG driver is different in that when there are several
raster tables, it doesn't expose anyone by default as a valid raster, hence
QGIS UI proposes to select the one to open.
You may file a ticket in QGIS tracker about that, if there's not an existing
one.

[Qgis-user] Training manual - 9.1.3. Configuring Additional Plugin Repositories

2021-01-11 Per discussione Inna Nogeste
QGIS 3.16 – Faunalia plugins

This step teaches how to configure a plugin respository from Faunalia
https://docs.qgis.org/3.16/en/docs/training_manual/qgis_plugins/fetching_plugins.html#basic-fa-configuring-additional-plugin-repositories
however I’m getting the following error message:
“Error reading repository:Fanualia
Server response is 200 OK, but doesn’t contain plugin metadata. This is most
likely caused by a proxy or wrong repository URL. You can configure proxy
settings in QGIS Options.”

The URL in the training manual no longer exists and the plugins are located
here instead:
https://www.faunalia.eu/en/dev/plugins

Does anyone (from Faunalia?) know what the URL should be or what needs to be
edited in the Proxy settings for this to work? I’ll then be able to edit this
step in the doucmentation GitHub with the correct info.

Salve,
il problema è che non abbiamo ancora risolto la questione della
struttura della comunità. Abbiamo fatto molte discussioni a tanti
Buona cose.

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS 3.16 Training Manual - Module 8.2.1 - Intersect features

2021-01-11 Per discussione Inna Nogeste
Hi Wanda,

Looking at my notes for what wasn’t working for me in the Training Manual
exercises, I see that I needed to make the following change in Step 6.2.8 using
QGIS 3.16 :
“Need to set the processing option to Skip (Ignore) invalid geometry. Seemed to
be a problem with the buildings_34s layer? Changed this option for both input
and compare layers and it worked.”

I hope this helps!

Regards,
Inna Nogeste

features

I am getting the same error in the training module for lesson 6.2.9. I have
done the lesson twice thinking I had missed a step - but get to the same point
of extracting the buildings and get the error message.

I am using QGIS 3.1 with Windows 10 on my HP laptop.

Thanks!

I’m working through the training manual and completed all the preceding modules

When I get to Module 8.2.1
https://docs.qgis.org/3.16/en/docs/training_manual/complete_analysis/analysis_combination.html#moderate-ty
to intersect my previous output files I get an error message when I run the
Intersection tool that a feature in my Overlay layer ’has invalid geometry.
Please fix the geometry or change the Processing setting to the “Ignore invalid
input features” option.’

The overlay layer is a polygonized vector layer createdin a previous modeul in
the training manual from a raster layer.
The invalid geometry in the polygonized layer represents 1 individual cell in
the original raster layer. Changing the Processing setting to ”Skip (Ignore)
Features with Invalid Geometries” doesn’t help and outputs an empty layer.

Has anyone else had problems with this module and the layer files created in
previous modules?
I’ve noted that the original SRTM_41_19.TIF exercise data is in EPSG 32733 and
not EPSG 32734 as per the other exercise (vector) data and this causes issues
when you get to Module 8.

I’m currently documenting discrepancies that I’m finding in the training manual
and am assuming that I can eventually add them to
https://github.com/qgis/QGIS-Documentation/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+label%3AEasy

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS Changelog maintenance for 3.18 release

2021-01-11 Per discussione Charles Dixon-Paver
I have made a request for this and will be migrating many of the elements I
have placed in "3D" to the point cloud section. I may also consolidate a
number of the point-cloud related entries and add a dedicated section to
the release announcement considering that point cloud support is a major
milestone and was the result of successful community collaboration.

Hi Charles,

Would it be possible to create a new category for Point Cloud?

Kind regards
Saber

Re: [Qgis-user] Problem connecting to Postgres13

2021-01-11 Per discussione Jorge Gustavo Rocha
Hi Grant,

Which error to you get in QGIS?

The access problem might not be in QGIS. Can you access the 12 and 13
servers with other applications? Each Postgresql server/service has its
own configuration and access restrictions, even if they are running on
the same machine.

Regards,

Jorge
