[Qgis-user] problem in plugin writting

2009-02-03 Thread Bijay Panda
Hi List,
I am new to QGIS.Actually i want to write plugins for QGIS.
I am using ubuntu 8.04.I installed QGIS 1.0.0 from package manager.
Now its showing those things installed in my machine.
qgis
qgis-plugin-grass
qgit
qgo

but while compiling a sample program for writing a plugin from vector to
pointconversion it's
showing error
qgisplugin.h: No such file or directory
I tried to find it by locate command but it's not there anywhere.
The QGIS document says it should be in src/plugins/qgisplugins.h
should i installed this from some package.if so then how can i find that.
Plz some one help me out.

This is already possible. But instead of cosmetic layer we talk about
canvas items: map canvas contains rendered map and optionally any
number of other map canvas items (see QgsMapCanvasItem class). Canvas
items can be updated whenever needed and no re-render of map is
required. Also rubber band (see QgsRubberBand) which is used for
measuring distances and areas is a canvas item.

Is it possible to have a second transparent map canvas, analogous to the
Mapinfo cosmetic layer.

This would allow, for example, a complex background map to remain static so a
gps layer in the new canvas can be quickly refreshed without refreshing the
entire map & all the background layers, unless, of couser, the map extent
changes.

There are several times I've made simple changes to a small layer & QGIS takes
some time to re-render everything, when 99% of the refresh doesn't actually
change anything.

This could be accomplished by having two map canvases, so users could add
static layers to the bottom one & more dynamic ones to the top one, to suit
their needs.

Questions on qgis-developer. Error/problems on TRAC or qgis-developer.
The latter if you are not sure, if it's a bug or a problem with your
setup.

AW: [Qgis-user] Ideas for QGIS plugin?

2009-02-03 Thread Merkes Dirk
Hi Carson,

the projection isn`t in the standard CRSs. Somebody told me that it isn`t
possible to define this projection. I'm looking for the projection code in
proj4, but I could't found anything. Somebody told me that it isn't possible to
create something like that. So I hoped that it would be possible to create
aplugin to convert from UTM to MGRS. The MGRS (or UTMREF) is based on the WGS
84 coordinate system. You can find an description of MGRS here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_grid_reference_system
Thank you for your answer.

Dirk

1) If the projections you mentioned above are standard CRSs, chances are
they are in the QGIS database, and you should be able to located them in
'File' > 'Project properties' > 'Coordinate Reference System (CRS)'. If
they are indeed there, great, the skip the next step...

2) If your CRS is not in the QGIS database, then you can create a custom
CRS by going to 'Edit' > 'Custom Projection'. Here you will have to
specify a valid proj.4 string, and you can test it to make sure all the
parameters are correct...

3) Now it's as simple as right clicking on the layer in the layer list,
and selecting 'Save as shapefile'. Once you've specified the output file
name, a dialog will pop up with the list of available CRSs, choose the
one you want to project your data to, and voila! If you had to create a
custom CRS, this will be located in the 'User defined coordinate system'
section.

Hope this helps,

Carson

You certainly could do this in manageR using the R methods, but in terms
of as a colour brewer plugin for creating colour tables? This is
probably best implemented separately I think, though you could still
take advantage of the implementation used in R... How does R do it, is
there calculations involved, or are the colour tables all
specified/stored already?

Agustin,

Sorry for my delayed response.

The three color ramp types are, Exact, Discrete, and Interpolated.
Interpolated is the type you are looking for, I has seriously considered
changing it to linear.

If you have two entries in your color table 0 = black 10 = white.
0 ,0,0,0,255,Black
10,255,255,255,255, White

Exact will only shade pixel values 0 and 10, all other pixel values will
be ignored.

Discrete is like a bin ( 0 <= pixel < 10 shade as white) so pixel value
of 5 would he shaded as white ( 255, 255, 255, 255 )

Interpolated is basically a linear interpolation between two colors. In
this example 5 would be shaded as ( 128, 128, 128, 255 ). **note,
currently the alpha value is always 255 for the interpolated color and
should probably be marked as a bug.

Peter,

What would be the equivalent rules for a continuous pseudocolor table
(i.e., INTERPOLATION::LINEAR ?)
Actually, do you have some standard pseudocolor tables (i.e., terrain
colors) already made?

Thanks
Agus

2009/1/14 Peter Ersts :

The easies way is to make a text file (classification.txt) and add
the color

entries by hand. So the contents of the file will look like:

INTERPOLATION::EXACT
11,0,0,255,255,Post-flooding or irrigated croplands (or aquatic)
14,0,255,0,255,Rainfed croplands
20,255,0,255,Mosaic cropland (50-70%) / vegetation
(grassland/shrubland/forest) (20-50%)

This will set pixels 11 to blue, 14 to green and 20 to red. The
format is

really basic.
pixel value, red, green, blue, alpha, label (no commas)

Then on the colormap tab, you can click the "Load color map from file"
button, second one from the top right.

Eventually it is planned that it will be able to read a variety of
different

colormap formats.
