AW: [Qgis-user] Two or more maps in the print composer

2009-02-16 Thread Hugentobler Marco
Hi Nikos

It is possible to print different extents of the same map. The possibility to
have different layers loaded for the different map is planned for the next
stage of composer development this year.

Marco

Betreff: [Qgis-user] Two or more maps in the print composer

Hi all!

If I understand the concept, the print composer enables viewing of
multiple maps and successively printing/saving.

What I can't figure out is how to load "different" maps (raster or
vector) on the different map frames I have currently on-display (in the
print composer I mean). Is it working or is it still "on-the-way"?

Thank you, Nikos

Thanks! John,
Actually the two are independent queries, but yes I have been
interchangeably trying to create polygons in QGIS and GRASS as well.
The problem is that in QGIS when there is commoon boundary between
two polygons it is actually double. And, if by chance it is
disturbed then you never get the original one, besides why there
should be this doubling. This does not happen in arcgis.

ANy solutions to this?

Ambrish

I'm afraid this is something that will have to be addressed in future
development efforts. I agree that this is problematic as dashed lines
often appear as solid due to being drawn more than once. Perhaps the
new symbology work will not have shared boundaries overlap, but I am
not certain if this has been brought up before. There are others who
would know better than I.

I think this is the solution you wanted. You were not clear about
doing this with the GRASS Tools plugin in qgis, but your followup
question on watershed creation seems to indicate that is your desire.

To aid in getting useful recommendations, please be more specific in
your requests, including the operating system, version of qgis, and
anything else that is pertinent, like using GRASS Tools.

In GRASS you can use:

# v.type in=input_lines out=output_boundary type=line,boundary

and then add centroids to the created boundaries with something like
(I'm going with memory, you should check the command syntax):

# v.centroids input=output_boundary output=output_polygon option=add

Obviously you have to check the topology results at then end. It's up
to you to have a consitent starting line vector (closed arcs, islands,
etc.), otherwise you will have to correct it with the usual commands
(v.clean, vlbuild, etc.)

Re: [Qgis-user] watershed creation

2009-02-16 Thread G. Allegri
I usually use r.watershed directly from GRASS and I choose the output
I desire (basin, drainage, stream segments, etc.), and the command
looks something like:

r.watershed elevation=dem drainage=out_drain basin=out_basin

to get the raster of basins with unique values (basin) and the
drainage network (drainage).

Which QGIS version are you using? What OS? How big is your dem? What resolution?

There is a centroids tool in the fTools plugin. Just install fTools
and look under geometry. I'm not sure about the second, but I doubt
it. You likely need to investigate options in GRASS for that task.

Hello all,
I found that the raster > hydrology..> watershed tool does not create the
desired image.
I used three things...1) the dem raster as source, 2) threshold value of 1000
and 3) output name as accu1.
Is there anything else left?
Why it is not producing, and how can I create basins?

Right, it has been introduced in Qt4.4.
I've fixed it as 0.1.2 and the upgrade should be available soon.

[Qgis-user] Styled Layer Descriptor-Files (SLD) of OGC

I've found this "tool for reading out styling information from ArcMap®
and converting into Styled Layer Descriptor-Files (SLD) of OGC"

once converted into SLD, can it be used in QGIS?

Thanks
