[Qgis-user] Moscow bughunt, 5th

2009-12-04 Thread Maxim Dubinin
Title: Moscow bughunt, 5th

Hi all

Our bughunt event is today/tomorrow and considering 46 bugs that we've found already just for training (not submitted to trac yet) there will be plenty of work for devs afterwards.

Wish us luck and join our irc after UTC+3: #gis-lab at freenode, to cheer IRC crowd up or participate if you speak Russian.

Maxim

[Qgis-user] QgsAzimuth 0.8

2009-12-04 Thread MaurĂcio de Paulo
Since our plugin version 0.5 many things changed.
Now we have a bug tracker, an svn repository and 2 coders.
Fred Laplante gave a huge contribuition to the project and now it's
usability is extended with the bearing/azimuth possibility, spatial
reference recognition, new user interface, decimal/dms recognition, saved
configuration, extended export/import data and magnetic deviation
correction.
I hope everyone likes it as the plugin is growing and becoming more usefull.
I'd also like to invite anyone to sugest new features and report bugs on our
tracker.

Re: [Qgis-user] Saving projects with relative paths

2009-12-04 Thread Don MacQueen
Here is my experience on a Mac, with a version 1.3.0 that I installed
back in October:

   http://mrcc.com/qgis.dtd' 'SYSTEM'>

I have two copies of a project file for the same project, one with
relative paths and one with absolute paths.

The relative paths are correctly specified in the project file (i.e.,
opening it with a text editor and inspecting the path names).
However, when opening the file that uses relative paths it doesn't
find the files. It does tell me where it's looking for them, and
based on that it appears that it prepends the relative path with the
wrong directory. In other words, the project file with relative paths
is *saved* correctly, but it is not opened correctly (on a Mac). I
guess this is a bug, as suggested by Giovanni, but I have not yet
looked for updates.

A work around is to manually edit the project files to change file
paths to valid absolute paths on the Mac side.

I have a project I need to share with people using Mac SnowLeopard
and I run Windows XP Pro. I've just downloaded QGIS v 1.3 (Mimas)
after reading this version supports relative paths in projects. I
went into project properties and unchecked "Save Absolute Paths".
However, when my end users attempt to open the project QGIS can't
find any of the data. I'm starting out with just two layers
(shapefiles) alongside the qgis project file all stored in a single
folder named test.

Should this be working? Is there a way to share projects between
windows and Mac's?

Thanks.
Kurt

[Qgis-user] Question on how to add data to shapefiles

2009-12-04 Thread Carbonari, Katie (IS)

Good morning. I'm new to GIS and very new to QGIS. I have 3 files I need to
visualize. 2 are shapefiles that I easily visualized in QGIS. The other file is
an ASCII text file that has various parameters. There are 200,000 lines in each
ASCII file, with each line corresponding to the cell numbers in the shapefiles.
I want to visualize the data in the ASCII file using the same grid in the
shapfiles. Does anyone know a way to do this? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Katie
