[Qgis-user] Qqis Mac standalone fix + plugin development addition

2010-08-07 Thread William Kyngesburye
I fixed a problem in the standalone version that caused various issues from not
running to errors in python plugins.

I also added (to standalone and full version) the PyQt utilities for compiling
UI and resource files (pylupdate4, pyrcc4, pyuic4), so anyone can create a
plugin without having to mess with installing a separate Qt and compiling PyQt,
both of which are already in the Qgis app.

[Qgis-user] Couldn't import 'matplotlib'

2010-08-07 Thread Kurt Springs
Hi,

I am getting the following error message when I open qgis. I am currently
running Qgis 1.5 for Mac OS X.

"Couldn't import Python module 'matplotlib' for plotting. Without it you won't
be able to run statist."

I am just clicking Okay and getting on with my work.

statist is present but not checked in the plugins manager. I was wondering if
there were a way to get the matplotlib imported so I would no longer get the
message and some day use the plugins that require it.

As always, any help is appreciated.

Errata corrige!!! The repository is squeeze, not lenny:

deb http://debian.gfoss.it/ squeeze main

A tip: Please remove all the Qgis and Grass you have installed
from the Gfoss repository, before doing the update.

[Qgis-user] QGIS 1.5 packages available for Debian Squeeze

2010-08-07 Thread Niccolo Rigacci
Finally I packaged QGIS 1.5 for Debian Squeeze too, architectures
are i386 and amd64.

The **unofficial** apt-gettable repository is:

deb http://debian.gfoss.it/ lenny main

Please report any problem with the packaging to me, not to the
innocent official Debian mantainers.

Due Squeeze frozen status, the packages should remain installable
for a long time.

i remember that you give me the answer before, but CAN YOU GIVE
FORMULA HOW TO CONVERT 1 SQ DEG. TO .. HECTARE ..?
You can *not* just convert degrees to hectares in a Lon/Lat projection.
The rough figures I sent last time were just an inaccurate estimate.
Afterall, as you move north or south towards the poles, the width of 1
degree changes in size.
What you should do is re-project your data to some projected coordinate
reference system. Then units will then most likely be in meters, and you
can calculate areas very simply. I see [1] that Indonesia uses a set of
Transverse Mercator projections. You might chose the one relevant to
your area.

In QGIS:
* you can project a shapefile to another CRS by using the "Save As"
option, and select whatever export CRS you want.

* Rasters can be re-projected using the Raster Tools plugin, gdalwarp tool.

hmm, is this right Micha. Isn't the size of a sqare degree depending
on how far from equator it is. Since the vertical longitudes are
convergating to the poles 1 west-east degree is 0 at the pole and
about 4/360 km at the equator which makes the conversion difficult.

The button is only enabled if used data provider supports removing attributes.
For most formats it's not supported. For Shapefiles please use Table Manager
plugin or any spreadsheet supporting dbf files, for Postgis one of Postgis
plugins.

Which kind of data source do you use? When you use PostGIS you can drop
your column from your PG-Table. When you use file based data sources
take the table manager plugin.
