Re: [Qgis-user] open a list of shapefiles directly into a group

2012-01-07 Thread Germán Carrillo
Hi Michele,

this has always been an issue. I did it for the v.1.5 but there were some
changes in the table of contents (legend) and it doesn't work anymore in
recent versions.

So, if it somehow helps you, you can have a look at the "Load Them All"
plug-in [1] with QGIS 1.5. You can get it installed from the QGIS
repository.

Regards,

Germán

Loading shapefiles into group works for me in master.
You need to check "Add new layers to selected or
current group" in QGIS options

That's right!

Actually, I was thinking about a Python-based approach.

Or you could try Pdfshuffler or Final Page, both available on sourceforge. I
think in theory any of them could work on Windows, but I know there is already
a (third party) windows installer for pdfshuffler (if you can find it - it is
linked from one of the bug reports).

But if you just want to reverse the pages, the easiest thing to do is open the
pdf and "print to file", selecting the option to reverse the page order. On
windows and some other systems you would need to install a virtual "pdf
printer" such as PdfCreator (also available on sourceforge) and print to that.

BTW I think if you wanted to file a bug report or a patch for easy print this
would be the place: http://code.google.com/p/cataisrepository/issues/list

[Qgis-user] Query Builder

2012-01-07 Thread ALT SHN
Hello,

I'm having a hard time using query builder with a point vector layer.
Somehow it doens't seem to recognize all the entities, and as such a simple
query as the one below returns "The where clause returned 0 entities"

"Freguesia" = 'ESPIRITO SANTO'

This never happened to me before. I attach the file in case someone
volunteers to try replicate the problem. Any suggestions? Maybe encoding
issues?

Thanks in advance,

André Mano

I also noticed that Query Builder doesn't seem to work with
non-ascii text. I have an attrib table (shapefile) with a text
column containing Hebrew strings (UTF-8 encoded). Query builder
always finds 0 rows, no matter what I put in. If I duplicate the
column with English strings, the query works as expected.

Could that be your problem? Anyone else noticed this? I see this in
version 1.7.3.

Thanks,
Micha

I did a query on your file and got the same result (QGIS 1.7.3, Windows
version). If I remove one of the values en enter it again, the query
returns the modified record. This only works if I don't use special
characters.

I noted something else, by opening the attribute table in LibreOffice
Calc or Excel. Several names in the second column contain strange
characters, which are invisible in QGIS (e.g.: MExRTOLA en ESPIxRITO
SANTO; strange characters have been replaced by 'x') . That's why your
query returns no records.

[Qgis-user] Re: Mapbooks with Easyprint

2012-01-07 Thread magerlin
Thanks for your suggestions on how to manipulate the PDF afterwards.

The "reverse print" is quite smart, but my experience is that reprint might
some times lead to very big files.

I gave up getting PDFShuffler to function (several other program had to be
installed first) but I found the free Opensource program PDFSam
http://www.pdfsam.org/?page_id=32 http://www.pdfsam.org/?page_id=32 , which
has a Reverse button in the "Visual Reorder" section.

It even comes in a portable (or at least not installer-based) version. Also
a Mac version is available.

Thank you for your feedback.

I followed your suggestions and everything went fine! I Changed the
encoding to UTF-8 and the problem is gone!

BTW using 1.7.3
