[Qgis-user] QGIS Webclient PostgreSQL search table

2012-06-25 Thread Dennis Ströer

Hello everybody,

a great project! Its a nice tool and the default settings and
functionality works fine. Now I'm trying to realize the search with wsgi

I created a searchtable and now I want to fill it with some test data,

I'm using PostgreSQL 8.4, so I think the tsearch package is already

Do I have to create the function to_tsvector by hand?

[Qgis-user] QGIS Courses in Ethiopia and Kenya this July

2012-06-25 Thread Martin, Michael
Hello QGIS Users!

My apologies for promoting a course I'm running in my first post, but I
wanted to inform you all of two Open Source Mapping courses that Mapping
Across Borders, a Canadian Non-Profit, will be running in July which I
feel will be of great interest to many on this list.

Over the past three years, Mapping Across Borders has run approximately
a dozen Open Source Mapping courses to over 150 participants in East
Africa. Our goal is to provide GIS knowledge and skill transfer through
in person and virtual training programs. We run five day classes and
cover GIS from the ground up using QGIS and other relevant software
(Google Earth, GRASS, GPS Babel, etc.) and are currently building
virtual resources training resources, including peer to peer and crowd
mentoring services. At our in-person events our philosophy is to teach
the concepts of GIS and apply them using free and open source software
using examples from participant's experiences and job descriptions. When
the program is complete, we follow up with participants at a personal
and community level to ensure that the lessons learned at the course are
able to be put into action.

This July, we will be running two courses:

Ethiopia

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Venue: Agri Service Ethiopia Training Centre (behind Global Hotel)

Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Date: July 9 - 13, 2012

Price: Starting at 3,000 Ethiopian Birr (see website for details)

Included: Lunch each day tea/coffee/snacks

Kenya

Location: Kisumu, Kenya

Venue: Whirlspring Hotel

Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate

2012-06-25 Thread Till Adams
Dear Kadu,

this looks like an installation problem of your qgis-server as it is not
able to deliver a map on a getmap-request. The labels and so are drawn
by OpenLayers, the core of the QGIS client.

It's easier to test the pure qgis-server installation first and try via
the getmap request, before using QGIS-client as you have less dependencies.

I tried my best for a windows-install howto, look here:

http://hub.qgis.org/projects/quantum-gis/wiki/QGIS_Server_Tutorial#Windows

I would suggest to check this first.

Hey guys,

thanks for the quick response!
Like Andreas told me, I executed the tsearch2.sql script which installed
the data types and function. If I execute SELECT to_tsvector('bla') it
returns 'bla' :1, so I think it works fine.

But if I try to fill the searchtable, the same error message appears:
ERROR: function to_tsvector() does not exist

Like Bernhard mentioned, it seems that I call the funtion without an
argument. But when I look at the example in the installation guide on
page 16, it seems to me, that I have to:

CREATE TABLE public.searchtable
(
searchstring text, --the search string (all lower case), e.g. z~ 1
richstrasse 46, 8610 uster

displaytext text NOT NULL, --the display text for the search combobox,

--should be unique across all search tables

Hi Dennis,

the documentation might be a bit misleading. In fact you have to insert
with to_tsvector(somestring).
I normally use views as search relations so if I have a table
streets(gid, the_geom, streetname)

it would be something like
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW search_streets AS
 SELECT streetname AS searchstring,
streetname::text AS displaytext,
'02_Streets'::text AS search_category,
the_geom,
'MULTILINESTRING'::text AS geometry_type,
-- here it comes:
to_tsvector(streetname::text ) AS searchstring_tsvector

Hi Dennis,

please try to execute SELECT to_tsvector('bla') in a SQL shell.
What happens?
Your error message indicates you call the funtion without an argument.
Maybe you should read the doc on the Full text Search

and/or the tsvector data type

Hello everybody,

I'm testing the QGIS webclient in the moment. Thanks for developing such
a great project! Its a nice tool and the default settings and
functionality works fine. Now I'm trying to realize the search with wsgi
and a PostgreSQL table setup for searching like explained in the
chapters 6 and 7 of the installation guide.
I created a searchtable and now I want to fill it with some test data,
but a problem appears. When I want to fill the field
searchstring_tsvector with the value to_tsvector() I'm getting the
following error:

ERROR: function to_tsvector() does not exist

I'm using PostgreSQL 8.4, so I think the tsearch package is already
included?! And when I add a new column to a table I can select the data
type tsvector...

Do I have to create the function to_tsvector by hand?

Does anybody know a solution for this error?

Cheers,

Hey guys,

thanks for the quick response!

(
searchstring text, --the search string (all lower case), e.g. z~ 1

 Hi,

I used the intersection function simply to add the information from the
polygon layer table to my point layer table. I used this fuction in all gis
software without problems (Qgis old version, arcgis, sextante, gvsig, etc).
When I use the function intersection in the main vectorial menu of Qgis I
obtain a shp file empty (also the table is empty) and the message of invalid
geometry just in my polygon layer (not in my point layer). In the 1.7.4
version and all other softwares I obtained the table with all the attributes
(from the original polygon and point layer) without errors for every point
(also works fine in gvsig, arcgis and others).

In reference to the invalid geometry of my polygon layers, I checked my shp
files (link below) in GRASS, arcgis and gvsig and no one detect any error in
 the geometry.

sorry for series of e-mail but I am newbie trying to learn Qgis.

Hi everyone
I am trying to compile QGIS on Windows using MS Visual C++ 2010 express.
I've pulled the source from svn. I guess it would be v 1.8, the latest.
I've had the visual studio solution created and the build process running.
When it tries to compile qgis_analysis, the linker fails with the errors:

2012-06-25 Thread Kadu Machado
Hi Till,,

thanks for your attention...

I followed your Windows How To install.. Actually, it oriented me to
install the Qgis Server After I successful got the GetCapabilities, I
installed the qgis-web-client without try the getMap...

After i've seen your mail, i tried do just like you said... I tried the
getmap before using QGIS-client

So, I tried this URL:
http://localhost/qgis/qgis_mapserv.fcgi.exe?SERVICE=WMSVERSION=1.3.0SRS=EPSG:4326REQUEST=GetMapmap=c:/projetos/censo.qgsBBOX=-36.215710,6.817432,-9.700450,58.551008WIDTH=500HEIGHT=1000LAYERS=censo_2010FORMAT=image/pnghttp://srv-vibgeo01/qgis/qgis_mapserv.fcgi.exe?SERVICE=WMSVERSION=1.3.0SRS=EPSG:4326REQUEST=GetMapmap=c:/projetos/censo.qgsBBOX=-36.215710,6.817432,-9.700450,58.551008WIDTH=500HEIGHT=1000LAYERS=censo_2010FORMAT=image/png

I'm sure that the project name and layers are correct.

This URL gives me no error in apache log or in Console of the Development
tools of Google Chrome... However, gives me no maps either...

I've noticed that the qgis-client was calling this url:

If I change the FORMAT=image/jpeg for FORMAT=image/png the error 500 is
solved, but the map is not shown

I'm using the Apache/2.2.14 (Win32) mod_fcgid/2.3.6 configured

Any other Idea?

It's easier to test the pure qgis-server installation first and try via
the getmap request, before using QGIS-client as you have less dependencies.

I tried my best for a windows-install howto, look here:

I would suggest to check this first.

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS WEB Client / Qgis Server

2012-06-25 Thread Till Adams
Hi,

looks like a problem with your qgis-project.

Did you use relative paths to the data?

Maybe it's better to start with one layer with a simple symbol for
testing whether any map will come out and then go to your real
project's data.

Also do not use complex classification first - this drives you to a
step-by-step setup of your webmap, where you test every step and as long
as you see the map, everything is all right ...

!!! And be aware of browser's cache which could be awful if you do not
see any changes in your map.

In this case vary the request e.g. by varying the bbox-param a little
bit. so that he browser can't just take the same image out of his cache ;-)

Have fun,

Till

and selecting CSV, and leaving everything else as default (which ment create
attributes was unchecked). However, I don't have any calculated fields in that
file.

This was on an aged toughbook running xp and QGIS 1.7.0 standalone.

If you were going to try the command line approch, then in the start menu in
the QGIS folders there should be either MSYS or OSGEO. Either of these will
start a command line shell that will include the QGIS bin folders in the path.
You should then be able to use the command that Lee suggested.
Note that the form Lee gave assumes you have changed directory (cd) to folder
that contains the offending file.

-ramon.

First the 'save as' .csv is indeed broken, infact I have never got it to work
under windowsxp with any file of any size even though 'save as' works
fine saving to other formats. Error message Export to vector file failed.
Error: creation of data source failed (OGR error:)

tested again under win 7 and Linux and it works fine here

cheers

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS Webclient PostgreSQL search table

2012-06-25 Thread Dennis Ströer

Hey Bernhard,

thank you for the advice, this solution seems to be logical. I created a
view like you told me. After this I changed the GlobalOptions.js to:

var useGeoNamesSearchBox = false;

var searchBoxQueryURL = /wsgi/search.wsgi?query=;
var searchBoxGetGeomURL = /wsgi/getSearchGeom.wsgi;

and put the name of the view in the according fields in search.wsgi and
getSearchGeom.wsgi. I also named the required connection paramters there
and activated the sql searchstring line...

But when I try to write a searchtext in the client, Firebug gives the
error message:

illegal character
#!/usr/bin/python

And when execute a sample query in Firefox, like written in the
search.wsgi file, Firefox only visualize the file search.wsgi like a
text file.

I think the configuration of the mod_wsgi or something else failed before?!

Cheers,
D. Stroeer

Hi Dennis,

the documentation might be a bit misleading. In fact you have to
insert with to_tsvector(somestring).
I normally use views as search relations so if I have a table
streets(gid, the_geom, streetname)

it would be something like
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW search_streets AS
 SELECT streetname AS searchstring,
streetname::text AS displaytext,
'02_Streets'::text AS search_category,
the_geom,
'MULTILINESTRING'::text AS geometry_type,
-- here it comes:
to_tsvector(streetname::text ) AS searchstring_tsvector
FROM streets

Bernhard

displaytext text NOT NULL, --the display text for the search combobox,
 e.g. Z~ 1 richstrasse 46, 8610 Uster (address

search_category text, --should have a leading two digit number:, e.g.
--03_parcels, where 03 is the order of the search categories, the
number

--should be unique across all search tables
 the_geom geometry,

Hey guys,

thanks for the quick response!

CREATE TABLE public.searchtable

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS WEB Client / Qgis Server

2012-06-25 Thread Kadu Machado
Hi

I found the problem

The qgis-web-client has a URL parameter for SRS=EPSG:900913

and the URL of the How To install define it like SRS=EPSG:4326

The SRS of my projects is EPSG:22523

So, i changed this parameter in the URL of the GetMap and I got a Map :D

My URL now is:
http://localhost/qgis/qgis_mapserv.fcgi.exe?map=c:\projetos\censo.qgsLAYERS=censo_2010;
*FORMAT=image/png*
SERVICE=WMSVERSION=1.3.0REQUEST=GetMapSTYLES=EXCEPTIONS=application%2Fvnd.ogc.se_inimage

So, I have to change FORMAT=image/jpeg to FORMAT=image/png (to solve the
erro 500)
and SRS=EPSG:4326 to SRS=EPSG:22523 (to show the map)

But, the map is shown in a little space. I think that's because the BBOX
parameter, that's right?

Another new problem Which js file in the qgis-web-client must I work
to change the SRS parameter?

In the GlobalOptions.js I changed

*var overviewLayer = new
OpenLayers.Layer.WMS(Pixelkarte,/cgi-bin/mapserv?map=/path-to-map/.map,{layers:pk_kombiniert,
format:image/jpeg},
 {buffer:0,singleTile:true,transitionEffect:resize});*

To *var overviewLayer = new
OpenLayers.Layer.WMS(Pixelkarte,/cgi-bin/mapserv?map=/path-to-map/.map,{layers:pk_kombiniert,
format:image/png}, {buffer:0,singleTile:true,transitionEffect:resize})*
;

and solve the erro 500 problem... But I didn't find where change the SRS
parameter

Also do not use complex classification first - this drives you to a

Hi,

EPSG 900913 is the google-projection, so you probably asked for data in
a region, where nothing is ::

The BBOX is min x / y and max x/y-coordinate in the refering
EPSG-Code-parameter of your getmap-Request. So your BBOX-values should
fit to your data-extent.

There is no place to set the EPSG of the WMS-Server, this is up to the
client using your service - so your WMS-Server might be fine now.

If you open your project properties in qgis, there's a tab called ows
server and there you may restrict the used EPSG-codes (or better the
allowed).
That means, that QGIs server will deliver the data in any EPSG you allow
here - if you do nothing here, QGIS will allow ALL known EPSG-codes,
including your 22523.

If you load your WMS in any client, just refer to your data's epsg-code,
so loading the WMS in QGIS-DEsktop, you should say, that the EPSG code
is 22523 - then QGIS will automatically switch the requested EPSG-code
in the getMap request.

For your test-getMap request it's fine if you just change the code
manually but then also fit your BBOX to your data!

Hi,

Remember that QGIS is both a server and a client. So it may be easiest
to test if the QGIS server is working fine by using QGIS desktop as a
client.

Then you should check the webserver log to see if there are no errors.

Manual checking of GetCapabilities and GetMap should is also encouraged
before setting up QGIS webclient.

Note that the documentation only gives examples. You have to replace the
GetMap requests with your own EPSG (coordinate system) codes and layer
names.

Good luck,
Andreas

Another new problem Which js file in the qgis-web-client must I
work to change the SRS parameter?

 In the GlobalOptions.js I changed

 /var overviewLayer = new
 OpenLayers.Layer.WMS(Pixelkarte,/cgi-bin/mapserv?map=/path-to-map/.map,{layers:pk_kombiniert,*format:image/jpeg
 *}, {buffer:0,singleTile:true,transitionEffect:resize});/

 To /var overviewLayer = new
 OpenLayers.Layer.WMS(Pixelkarte,/cgi-bin/mapserv?map=/path-to-map/.map,{layers:pk_kombiniert,*format:image/png
 *},  {buffer:0,singleTile:true,transitionEffect:resize})/;

and solve the erro 500 problem... But I didn't find where change the SRS
 parameter

 Hi,

looks like a problem with your qgis-project.

In this case vary the request e.g. by varying the bbox-param a little
bit. so that he browser can't just take the same image out of his
 cache ;-)

 Have fun,

 Till

[Qgis-user] How to join a DBF table to a vector layer

2012-06-25 Thread rhoskins

I have a DBF of population data. A vector layer of the census tract. A common
ID of FIPS.

Please explain in some detail or point me to somewhere that explains this in
some detail. The 1.6 manual says ftools has
such a thing, the 1.7 manual ftools description does not indicate such a thing
but has a description using the join tab in the layer properties which I
cannot understand at all.

Thanks -

[Qgis-user] Unresolved external symbol public: virtual char * __thiscall OGRGeometry::exportToGML

2012-06-25 Thread Saqib Ilyas
Hi everyone
I've resolved the compilation errors that I posted in an email yesterday by
pointing the build to e:\osgeo4w\lib\gdal_i.lib instead of
e:\osgeo4w\apps\gdal-1.7\lib, but now the compile gets stuck when trying to
build oracleplugin with the following error messages:

qgsselectgeoraster_ui.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol
public: virtual char * __thiscall OGRGeometry::exportToGML(void)const
(?exportToGML@OGRGeometry@@UBEPADXZ)
5qgsselectgeoraster_ui.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol
public: virtual int __thiscall OGRPolygon::Centroid(class OGRPoint *)const
 (?Centroid@OGRPolygon@@UBEHPAVOGRPoint@@@Z)
5C:\qgis-build\src\plugins\oracle_raster\RelWithDebInfo\oracleplugin.dll :
fatal error LNK1120: 2 unresolved externals

Any ideas?
Can I remove oracleplugin from the build and still get a working QGIS? If
this is oracle as in the database server, I never plan on using it.
Thanks

Re: [Qgis-user] clicking Project properties crashes qgis

2012-06-25 Thread j. z.
I tried it. Qgis recreates this folder on start but the problem still occures,
even if it's a first thing I do in Qgis after starting it (without opening any
datasets).
Any other ideas?

The same shapefiles crashing 1.7 and 1.8 work ok in 1.6 so I assume it's a
  software isssue.

under Vista/Seven it is in c:\user\yourusername, under XP should be in
 documents and settings.
