Re: [Qgis-user] Using QGIS with ArcGIS
Hello Vincent, We have a well established ESRI environment for our desktop tasks, and a farily new Open Source environment for WebGIS. This means that we have the same data stored twice, both as ESRI FileGeodatabases and in PostGIS. We use FME to push data from ESRI -- PostGIS. Then we use QGIS for direct editing and QC of the data in PostGIS. We have some data collection over the web, storing data in PostGIS. Editing and QC this data is the main task where we use QGIS. Of course the best way would have been to store everything in just one place (PostGIS), hopefully we will go there in the future when ESRI handles PostGIS as god as QGIS does today. I have tried some 3:rd party plugins to read end editing PostGIS data in ArcGIS. But they where not as stable as QGIS. However, FME offers a stable converter between the to environments! We use: QGIS 1.8, ArcGIS 10.1 (just upgraded), FME 2012 and Postgres 8.4 with PostGIS. [Qgis-user] CAD tools

Re: [Qgis-user] Using QGIS with ArcGIS
We use the postgis connector for arc-gis 'ziggis'. Great software for online editing. We bought the connector years ago with a small budget. First ziggis was open cource. Years ago obtusesoft developed and sale the connector for small payment. Now it will be open cource again. I don't now the actual status. The visual Maping functionalitie is better with arc-gis. For example the refference scale for symbols or the simple sybol editor. Qgis is OK for 95 percent of users. We use Postgis as the database backend. Qgis and Arc-Gis as Geospatial Frontends. LibreOffice as text and formular based Frontend. umn mapserver as map provider wms and wfs mapbender framework as just viewing too. Wat data size we handle some 10 objects Performance ? We doesn't habe a benchmark. Evrything could everytime be faster.;-) I think the Performance is good. [Qgis-user] tooltips not showing
My QGIS does not display tooltips (any more). The only thing that shows up is a white (or light yellow?) bar at the place where the tooltip should be. Other QT applications seem to work fine on my system, including QGIS Browser. I'm using the trunk version: QGIS-versie 1.8.0-Lisboa QFIS code revisie exported Gecompileerd tegen Qt 4.7.2 Gebruikt nu Qt 4.7.2 Gecompileerd tegen GDAL/OGR 1.6.3 Gebruikt nu GDAL/OGR 1.6.3 GEOS-versie 3.2.0 PostgreSQL Client Versie 8.4.11 SpatiaLite-versie 2.4.0 QWT versie 5.2.0 on Ubuntu 11.04. This problem has been there for at least several weeks, but since I know most buttons/icons it didn't really bother me yet. Hope anyone can help! [Qgis-user] QGis 1.8 crashes with 1.7xx projects
Hi I have a project that I made in Qgis standalone 1.74. When I try to load it in1.8 it just simply crashes. The project has DEM Shaded Relief Contours (Shp) Points CSV Layout The problem happens in Win7 32 and 64bits and Ubuntu 12. I made an experiment and save the project in 1.73 without the csv layer and 1.8 has no problem opening it. As soon as I have a csv layer in the 1.7x project 1.8 crashes. Anyone has the same problem as me? Is this a bug?
