[Qgis-user] Heads-up: Freeze starts on 2014-01-24 (11 days away)

2014-01-13 Thread Jürgen E . Fischer
Hi,

I'd like to remind everyone that the 2.1 development cycle ends at 2014-01-24
(11 days away), we'll go into feature freeze and start the 2.2 release cycle in
which we'll do testing, bugfixing, translating and release preparations instead
of feature development for the 2.2 release.

Please merge your new features before 2014-01-24 and prepare to start testing.
The 2.2 release will be on 2014-02-21 (39 days away).

[Qgis-user] We need help updating the qgis user guide for version 2.2

2014-01-13 Thread Otto Dassau
Dear Community,

at 2014-01-24 (11 days away), we'll go into feature freeze for the next qgis
version 2.2, which will be released at 2014-02-21 (39 days away).

To have an updated user manual at that time we need to build a documentation
team with people who take care about certain tasks and chapters after the
feature freeze. Please send a note to the community-team list, if you are
able to help, so we have a nice documentation again.

We will organize the work in the wiki...

[Qgis-user] Related to the development of a help file or documentation of a plugin

2014-01-13 Thread Vishwadeep Shende
Respected,

I want to ask a query ie. how to write a help file for a plugin which i
have developed.
I want to know that, how to develop the help file for that plugin.I have
written a pdf document, can I call that file through python by clicking on
a button of my plugin.
I have read the Documentation section of QGIS official website. It has given
the logic to develop the help file by using the html programming.
So my ultimate question is that how could I merge the python & html file
for my html help document.

Thanks & regards

Re: [Qgis-user] Related to the development of a help file or documentation of a plugin

2014-01-13 Thread Jorge Tornero - Listas

Dear all, dear Vishwadeep

*
*I hope this is not a little cross-posting, but,/despite it's not
approved yet/, I've developed a plugin for qgis in which I sort of
implement some help/about info in the way you try to implement it, so
maybe you can take a look to it and perhaps tinker some of the code.

Basically what i do to show my html help is to create another dialog
and then creating an instance of it when I click a button in the main
dialog of the plugin. In that new dialog, I have a QTabWidget and in
each tab I have a QWebView which shows an html page both for help and
for about. _The trick here is to make those pages availabe in the qrc
(resource) file (This can be done with QtDesigner)__

_
You can check my web page for the plugin in

http://imasdemase.com/programacion-2/qgis-plugin-transectizer/

and the source code repository in

https://github.com/jtornero/transectizer

The ui_about.* files take care of the implementation of the dialog and
the way it is called is inside transectizer.py function simply as:

def about(self):
"""This function just shows the About/help dialog"""
aboutDialog().exec_()

Best regards

Jorge Tornero

[Qgis-user] Print Composer

2014-01-13 Thread Craig Leat
Hi,

I have recently upgraded to QGIS 2 am i'm really enjoying it!

I have noticed I can zoom within a map frame in the Print Composer with the
mouse wheel. Is there a way to pan within the frame? The ability to zoom,
pan and rotate with a mouse within the map frame would be fantastic.

Part of that has been in Composer for a long time (at least 1.8). You need
to select the map item, and then click on the "Move Item Content" button.
After that, you will be able to zoom and pan of the map item with the mouse
wheel.

Hi Craig,

You can pan with the "Move item content" button.

There is no rotation linked with the mouse, just the zooming.

What would you propose - how should rotation of the map work? In
combination with a modifier key?

Please also note that the print composer will be considerably improved
in QGIS 2.2. See Nyall's work and blog:

http://nyalldawson.net/

Blog entries with composer improvements, parts 1-3. You can already try
that out in the developer version 2.1 available through the OSGeo4W
installer.

Ah, I can see how I missed this. I was expecting a "hand" icon with a label
"pan". BTW "Move Item Content" doesn't appear to work with all items. For
example, I can't move a label within it's frame.

Thanks Andreas for the pointer to the blog for upcoming improvements. I'll
take a closer look.

Hi,

The "Move Item Content" works only for items that have a movable
content. As far as I know the map is the only object that has a movable
content currently.

For the movement of all other objects you should use the "Select/Move
Item" button.

seems not to be the version running inside QGIS 2.0 yet. It is not even

[Qgis-user] Identify Features popup and viewing feature metadata question

2014-01-13 Thread Peter Len
I am using QGIS v2.0.1 and am also using PostgreSQL/PostGIS as well as
GeoServer. In my PostgreSQL, I have a feature table that contains an ID,
title, and point geometry. I have published the table as a WMS/WFS via
GeoServer. In QGIS, I added a layer to the feature table with a direct
connection through the "Add PostGIS Layer" and I also added another layer to
the feature table through the "AddWFS Layer" (which goes through GeoServer).
When I click on the "Identify Features" icon and click on a feature that is on
my PostGIS direct connection layer, I can see the ID and Title for that feature
in the popup window. If however, I click on the same feature but is in the WFS
layer, I don't get that other metadata. I only see the coordinates for the
feature.

I am new to QGIS and these types of geospatial tools so I am not sure what the
difference is. Am I not seeing the other metadata fields when working with the
WFS via GeoServer because you don't get the other field data with that service?
or is it an indicated that I am not properly registering or accessing the
layer over WFS? or ???

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated - Peter

Hi,

Don't let QGIS to do the warping but just push the button and create the
GDAL commands. Then you can edit the gdal_translate command and have total
control over all the features it supports http://www.gdal.org/gdalwarp.html.
You may be able to set -dstnodata to some value that does not exist in your
data, for example "0 0 255" for total blue. Or then you can add alpha
channel with -dstalpha.

Unfortunately you can't edit the command and run it as edited directly from
the georeferencer but you must run it in a separete GDAL command window.

I think this recipe should not be lost. Ho about adding it to the manual,
probably
with an "Advanced" flag?

this shouldn't be difficult to add.
