Re: [Qgis-user] joinning tables

2014-01-28 Thread Szabo Szilard
Dear Zoltan,
I had this kind of problem when I "hurt" the normal rules of field names
(i.e. using extra long field names bringing them directly from downloaded
TEIR tables); afterI correction them (shortening but I am not sure the
threshold), everything was fine. But You have correct and short field names
... my response is just a case study.

Best regards,
Szilard

Dear James,

thanks for your answer.
My data are available here:
http://www.agt.bme.hu/gis/qgis/ods.zip

You can find in the zip a shapefile (megye_utf-8), and some spreadsheet
files (ksh.ods, ksh.xlsx, ksh.csv) having the same data.
All use utf-8 code page.
Open megye_utf-8 and ksh.ods and make a join using "megye" and "Nev"
columns. I get NULL data in all joined column.

If ods or xlsx is not supported on your platform, you can use ksh.csv.
If you join the two tables using "kod" (integer value) column, the result
is OK.

I tested it in 2.1, 1,7 and 1.8 on Linux and in 2.1 on Windows.

Best Regards,

Dear List,

I got into trouble joining tables in QGIS.
When I try to join shape to a csv, ods or xlsx file using columns with
textual data, it doesn't work. I get only NULL values in the joint
columns.
Using integer values the join works.
Is it a feature or an error?

There really isn't a procedure that I've seen. I think most people are
served by local user groups of FOSS or GIS origin. North America might
even be too big of a geographic area for what many traditionally call a
user group. I see a good role being to help ensure Birds of a
Feather/Local meets whenever good related conferences roll into town:
FOSS4G, FOSS4GNA, NACIS, State of the Map, URISA (e.g. WAURISA, CalGIS)
etc...

Note the comparison in the EU is the hackfests which is really a lot of
developers and power users getting together to work on QGIS.

My personal opinion is that beyond meetups coinciding with other confs,
and possibly organizing QGIS hackfests (can be user oriented) that most
other functions of such a group overlap either with QGIS' existing
infrastructure (e.g. do we really need our own mailing list since the
main QGIS ones are in English except to discuss regional events?) or
OSGeo chapters.

Guess I'm mostly hesitant about splitting the FOSS4G community
mindshare, I don't use QGIS in isolation and never would (unlike some
monolithic software packages), so to me leaving out Postgis, Spatialite,
GRASS, (Everything else in Processing) kinda misses the mark.

But I do get the notion that some things simplified can be more
attractive to a general audience (ie hook in the QGIS users out there
somehow).

Thanks,
Alex

I'd try this out for you, but I can't find the rotate capability

Portrait and Landscape, but that is all.

Any chance you could answer this question below
that I posted 2 weeks ago?

Interestingly, I don't seem to have OSM plugin on
my version 2.0.1. I don't see it under Installed
and I don't see it under Get more, though there is
an OSMEditorRemoteControl in the Get more tab.

How do I get it on ver 2.0.1 QGIS - Win64 version?

To start the Plugin Manager go to "Plugins" -
"Manage and Install Plugins".

Hi List,

I try to rotate a map in the print composer and I have an awkward problem.
I wanted to check if I am alone in this case, or if it's a bug.

I work under Windows 7 64 Pro - QGIS is 2.0.1.

When I rotate a map in the print composer, shapefiles are cut at a right
angle (according to the north) if the transparency is not set at 0. If the
transparency is set at zero, no problems. When I rotate the map from 180
degrees it works fine too, but anything else doesn't. Output is the same if
it exported in .jpg, .pdf, ...

Enclosed the output with the print composer and a rotation of 330 degrees
and a screenshot of the print composer (the map is cached). The
transparency of the green layer is set at 5%, 0% for the red. You can see
how the green layer is cut ...

Screenshot:http://imgur.com/ZtCdfwY
Print output:http://imgur.com/3iBFwXD

This problem doesn't appear for raster with/without transparency.

I already tried to modify every option I knew, but it doesn't work.

  Any hints?
Thanks a lot
Nebi

Re: [Qgis-user] Mapinfo and qgis file's datum problem

2014-01-28 Thread M. LATTES
Hi,

Don't forget that in polar coordinates (so WGS84) the X scale and Y scale
are not the same and not constant in projected meter.

I will look into two directions :

1°) Check that the "core" units and projections of MapInfo are the same as
your project projection :

I'm not familiar with your MapInfo version, but I know that in previous
version (8.5 and above), the projection and units of the current map window
are distinct of the "core" (or default) mapinfo projection and unit.
By "core" I mean that when you use some tools, extensions, mapbasic,...
mapinfo may use the projection and units of the main settings, not the one
of the current map window.

2°) Check that your Qgis and MapInfo buffer are polygons, not Ellipse (or
arc) objects that store the radiuses and center and compute the shape.

With caching off, it's supposed to do that. However, I did report
http://hub.qgis.org/issues/9439 yesterday (QGIS sends a request for every
scroll, even intermediate scrolls when you do the wheel lots at once!) -
maybe that's what you're referring to.
