Re: [Qgis-user] OT: IRTF to GDA94 difference [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

2014-09-29 Thread Bruce Bannerman
Hi Matt,

>From a recent presentation from the Australian Intergovernmental Committee on
>Surveying and Mapping [1]:

“Absolute difference between GDA94 and ITRF will exceed 1.8 metres by 2020”

This presentation was referring to a proposed dynamic datum: GDA2020 (which
will raise a wide range of challenging data management issues).

I suggest following up with ICSM for an authoritative answer.

Subject: [Qgis-user] OT: IRTF to GDA94 difference

Hi fellow QGIS people,
I'd like an easy (as in if it's too hard I probably won't have time to do it)
way to confirm the drift on GDA94 compared to UTM. I've done a little digging
and haven't been able to find anything except "Australia is moving
approximately NE at a rate of 7cm per year and in 2005 it was 77cm". Having
said that, I'm a little hazy on if UTM is the worldwide reference and how it's
related to IRTF.

Is there anywhere online that works this out automatically?

Thanks

Hi Zoltan,
why not upgrading the pacikage in
http://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/BulkVectorExport/ ?
We can ask (again?) the original author, and add a new version in case he does
not
reply in a reasonable tiome frame (hey, it's GPL after all!).
All the best, and thanks.

[Qgis-user] Connect Qgis 2.4 to Oracle (SDE)

2014-09-29 Thread Stéphane Henriod
Hi all

I want to connect Qgis 2.4 to an Oracle DB (with SDE) but I always get
connection errors.

I have tried many different options from within the window *Create a new
Oracle Connection* but I always get an error message (*ORA-12514:
TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect
descriptor* or similar messages). I know however that the DB is working and
listening. I know the correct host, the correct port and I have valid
username / password.

The IT support here gave me 2 (independent) pieces of advice but I'm not
sure how to implement them with Qgis:

   - "Does your client (Qgis) know about the correct *tns_admin* directory?"
   - "Make sure that LDAP is listed first: NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH = (LDAP,
   TNSNAMES,ONAMES)"

Anyone has an idea?

Thanks a lot in advance!
Stéphane

PS: this question has also been posted here:
http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/115534/qgis-how-setup-ldap-as-default-to-resolve-a-connection-to-oracle
but unsuccessfully so far

Dear Nathan,

the BulkVectorExport plugin can do it for vector data.
The version on the plugins.qgis.org page works with 1.8 version.
I've updated it to 2.x and added some new functionality.
It is available from GitHub
https://github.com/zsiki/bulkvectorexport

This appears to be a issue since upgrading to QGIS 2.4. When making changes to
records in feature tables that contain “Text Edit - multiline” fields, QGIS
deletes the content in all fields that are set up as “Text Edit – multiline”.

For example, changing the date in a table with two attributes that are
represented as date and multiline text field respectively will result in the
loss of data in the text field while the date entry remains intact.

The behaviour can be reproduced under Windows and Linux by creating a new
project file. The problem doesn’t appear to occur when unchecking “multiline”
under the Text Edit widget properties.

Apologies if this has been discussed before but I haven’t been able to find any
relevant information when doing a search.

Has anyone else come across this issue, and are there any suggested workarounds?

Many thanks

Sven

[Qgis-user] OpenLayers plugin not consistently loading all tiles

2014-09-29 Thread Nick Barton

I'm seeing a consistent issue with the Openlayers plugin.

I have installed the prebuilt binary of QGIS 2.4 on a Win 7 64bit
platform. Added plugins are Qgis2threejs, viewshed analysis and
MultiQML. CRS is OSGB:1936.

I'm using the Openlayers plugin to fetch Bing aerial with labels as a
base map. I experience incomplete loading of tiles in three situations.
(1) When loading the Bing layer, not all tiles are loaded. Hitting F5
(refresh) will fix it so this is not too much of a problem

(2) There is a consistent unloaded column of tiles the the RHS. I can't
find a workaround for this. All I can do is clip it.

(3) The biggest issue is when using Print Composer to render to a jpg
file. In this case perhaps only 0-25% of tiles are loaded. No
workaround. See pc.jpg atttached.

I am a new user so I have much to learn so I'm not sure if this is a bug
or a user issue. Does anyone else see the same problems and have any
suggestions that I might try?

Thanks,
