[Qgis-user] Importing Google Maps

2014-11-25 Thread Brett Adams
Folks,

I'm want to bring Google maps, specifically satellite imagery, into QGIS
2.6.

I've been trying to do this using the "Google Maps Engine Connector" plug
in. Is this the best way?

Went to google, got the OAuth 2.0 code, plugged in my Client ID and Client
Secret. It then prompts for the google log in. From there I get the error
shown below.

Any ideas where I'm going wrong? Is there an easier way to bring in the
imagery?

We used to be able to bring in Bing imagery also. Can that be done in 2.6?

Thanks

Brett

Sorry,

If you install 2.4, your old QGIS 1.8 shortcuts are not always removed. You
can delete them. To open QGIS, go to start - osgeo4w - qgis2.4. If you can't
find any shortcuts in your menu, try reinstalling QGIS. What install are you
using?

Is this what you are looking for?

1.Quantum GIS Browser (1.8.0)

When I am double click over these icon nothing is happening, normally on other
laptop one blank page open.

I know 4 .tab file is required to open the map in one location.

Hi,
Unlike most file formats, a .tab file is actually 4 files with 4 different
extensions (see below). They must all be copied at the same place in the
computer (same directory) if you want to open the .tab.

Make sure you have all 4 files. If all you have is the .tab, nothing will
work. Could this be the problem?

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/MapInfo_TAB_format

"So the basic file set for viewing data and its graphic representation in
vector form within MapInfo Professional requires a minimum of four files,
normally the *.TAB, *.MAP, *.DAT and *.ID. If there is only textual information
with no graphic objects, then a minimum of two files is needed: *.TAB and
*.DAT."

Well to be more clear, use the following links to download a newer version:

Standalone Installer
http://qgis.org/downloads/QGIS-OSGeo4W-2.4.0-1-Setup-x86.exe

OR OSGeo4w Installer
http://download.osgeo.org/osgeo4w/osgeo4w-setup-x86.exe

When in doubt always go to http://qgis.org for your downloads.

[Qgis-user] Raster Properties, No stats collected yet

2014-11-25 Thread Nicolas Cadieux
Hi,
In QGIS 2.6 raster - metadata - properties, I get "Band no x, No stats
collected yet". How can they be generated?

It seem they are generated on a need to know basis and apparently... I don't
need to know!  Work around is to use the processing but it's nice to have then
in the metadata.  Any hint?

Re: [Qgis-user] Select a line or polygon to cut and paste to a new layer

2014-11-25 Thread Saulteau Don
There's an answer on GISse (http://gis.stackexchange.com/a/20967/1297) that
says the following:

   1. Start a edit session on both layers that you want to do the
   copy/paste against.
   2. Use the Select feature by rectangle tool to select the feature (copy
   from).
   3. Click the Copy Features button.
   4. Highlight the feature in the TOC that the feature will be pasted to.
   5. Click the Paste Features button.

That might help.

The select tools are in a single button (little arrow to expand for other
selection tools). There's an explanation on the qgis 2.6 visual changelog
at
https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/visualchangelog260/index.html#feature-single-select-feature-tool-merged-into-select-by-rectangle

[Qgis-user] Select a line or polygon to cut and paste to a new layer

2014-11-25 Thread Chuck Young
In version 1.8 and earlier I was able to select a line or polygon and cut
and paste it to a different layer. Now I can't find the tool to select
anything to do that with.

Please help me find it if it is still there. I have been away from the
program for a bit so it may be hidden somewhere or I may have had a plugin
that did it before.???

[Qgis-user] 2.6 very slow to render and uninstalling 2.6 - Solution

2014-11-25 Thread Brett Adams
I now have 2.6 running “normally” on W7-64

Previously everything done in in Layer control took an eternity to respond,
especially if it involved raster images.I’d been running 1.8 which worked
perfect.

Solution was to uninstall and “clean” all QGIS files as follows;

1. Uninstall 1.8 and 2.6 using windows uninstall

2. Clean the Registry of all folders with “qgis” in the title. I used
Regedit which comes standard with windows.

3. Delete the .qgis2 and .qgis folders from “users”. In my case these
are located at C:\Users\BADAMS

4. Restart machine

5. Load 2.6

6. Problem solved!!!

Interestingly when reloading 2.6 it tells me 2.6 is already loaded, so
something remained during this process. Didn’t seem to matter.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Checked out your suggestion Donovan.

As it’s a new installation I don’t think external plugins are loaded. (Guess
that’s why I don’t have the qgis2 folder??? )

Data storage is small SHP files (100 points) and a series of raster images
(300kB).

Same files that were being used in 1.8.

One thing you can check for is if there is a faulty plugin causing the issue.

Try backing up your .qgis2 folder (ie, rename to .qgis2.backup)

Then relaunch QGIS 2.6 and test again.

What's the data storage format? Are they spatialite, postgis, shapefiles, etc?

Thanks Alex

That made a significant improvement. I can live with that.

Try disabling/changing multi-threaded rendering. It may not work well on

Hi Lester.

Try it as directory not as database.

I use gdb files made with arcgis 10.2.2 and it works.

I'm not sure which ratser format you ahve, but reading
http://www.gdal.org/frmt_various.html I assume GDAL expects DX and DY in
two lines instead of two values for CELLSIZE in one line. This could be
changed with a good text editor.

If you are under windows, try installing the 32 bit version and see if that
opens the MS ACCESS MDB file, last time I checked 64 bit can't open it due
to some dependency that isn't met and I failed to ever get working, issue

  Good afternoon!

I'm trying to work with the new process r.const.full included in the latest
version of QGIS 2.6, but I get an error message.

I think the problem may be in the start point, so I tried both raster files as
vector files. In support of the process indicates that you can use these

The error message I get is the following:

Re: [Qgis-user] Lizmap - can't insert&update data in PostGis Views

2014-11-25 Thread Alexandre Neto
Hello Pedro,

according to Fred Lehoney (I haven't test it) the latest version of
postgres alows to edit simple views (that is, simple selects on a single
table, with no aggregate functions, or functions around fields).

But, if you are using 9.2 or you have any of those conditions, you can
always use triggers to redirect your view edits to the original tables.

I don't have an example now, but I can give you one tomorrow.

Best regards,
Abraço,

Re: [Qgis-user] Lizmap - can't insert&update data in PostGis Views

2014-11-25 Thread Sergio Gollino
That's not a bug.

You can't insert data on a view, because a view, it's just a select of
something (one or more other tables) so, if you have to insert something
inside a view, you have to insert it in the original table.

Hi,

maybe your tab-file is corrupted? Does your other tab-files work properly? As
workaround you could use Universal Translator in MapInfo and convert MapInfo

Hope it helps!

Re: [Qgis-user] Problem with adding parent algorithms in Processing Graphical Modeller

2014-11-25 Thread Major Balázs
Dear Jouko and Others,

I have a similar problem with graphical modeller on qgis 2.6. At me it cant
open perviously saved .model files, altough from the processing toolbox I can
open it.
In the modeller the algorythms doesnt work properly. For example I want to use
join attripute algorythm, but the input layer 2 drop down box doesnt work. I
tested it on Windows 7 and OSx 10.9 with same results.

I tried to reinstall QGIS, but it didnt help.

I made a bug report (http://hub.qgis.org/issues/11666) but who tried to help me
found that it works on his computer.

I would appreciate if there were a solution.

Balazs

[Qgis-user] Problem with adding parent algorithms in Processing Graphical Modeller

2014-11-25 Thread Järnefelt Jouko
Hi all,

just asking again if someone could confirm that assigning parent algoritms in
Graphical Modeller is working in QGIS 2.6 (W7 64bit)? I haven’t been able to
assign parent algorithms in any model that I have been trying to create. After
adding parent algorithm I get python error as described in earlier post. I have
installed QGIS 2.6 through OSGeo4W-installer and as standalone version for two
different computers. On both computers I get the same error message. I have
gone through folder settings and everything else seems to be alright.
Individual algorithms through processing toolbox are working just fine.

In version 2.2 everything was fine (the version I used before updating to 2.6).

Cheers,
Jouko

Aihe: [Qgis-user] Problem with adding parent algorithms in Processing Graphical
Modeller

Hi,

I’m running into problem with Processing Graphical Modeller when I’m trying to
assign parent algorithms to any algorithm. Every time I do this and click OK to
return to modeler window I get Python error as described below. Now I’m
wondering if I should try reinstalling QGIS or do I have problem with python in
my computer or are some folder settings wrong? Or can someone else confirm this
kind of problem and should I open a ticket for it? I’m not able to test this in
any other computer at this time.

I have installed QGIS 2.6 via OSGeo4W64-installer and I’m running on Windows 7
(64bit). I think I should have installed all dependencies as they should. In
this computer I have never had QGIS installed before.

Re: [Qgis-user] [Qgis-developer] User-contributed scripts/models for Processing

2014-11-25 Thread Jonathan Moules
As an author of some scripts, I think this feature is a great opportunities to
easily share useful snippets. I am not sure though we made enough publicity
around it. I fear only "power users" will have the idea to open the branches of
processing toolbox and discover there is a Scripts / Tools / Get scripts from
collection. I have no idea though how to improve this.

Especially as it’s a subitem under something that says “0 geoalgorithms”; that
implies there’s nothing under there (it’s non-obvious that these are different
things).

I’d suggest that a dedicated button for that functionality be added to the
interface somewhere, probably under the “processing toolbox”.

Cheers,
Jonathan

I would prefer to use Github bugtracker, but I have no strong opinion about
it.

I agree we should warn the users and tell them the provided scripts are
like extensions, delivered "as is".

Michael

[Qgis-user] Lizmap - can't insert&update data in PostGis Views

2014-11-25 Thread Pedro
Hi,

When I try to update or insert data which are in Postgis Views is not
possible (they all have write permissions and if I do the some action at
QGIS works).

When I do the same action on Postgis Tables it works as expected.

P.S. - I open an Issue at Lizmap GitHub because it seems like a bug

Re: [Qgis-user] How to uninstall 2.6

2014-11-25 Thread Luigi Pirelli
1) remove the directory where you installed qgis... usually something
like c:\osgeo4w or similar

2) plus crean registry of all staffs related with qgis (there you'lll
find configuration) better to work in clean way

3) remove or rename the .qgis2 dir in your home

Re: [Qgis-user] How to uninstall 2.6

2014-11-25 Thread Brett Adams
Folks,

Hoping a complete reinstall will solve my super slow 2.6 problem.

How do I completely uninstall 2.6?

Uninstalled it through windows but when I went to install it warns that 2.6 is
already installed. So something is obviously left behind (and hopefully that
is the cause of my problem!!).

Couldn’t see anything obvious in the system variables but I’m no expert in that
area.

Thanks

[Qgis-user] Problem with virtual field in field calculator

2014-11-25 Thread magerlin
I've got a text attribute which contains intervals like "2 - 4".

I would like to convert it to an attribute of type Real containing the start
value of the interval.

This formula used to store the result in a "normal" attribute of type Real
works as expected:

toreal( (substr("interval" ,1,strpos ("interval" ,'-')-1)))

The same formula used to store the result in a virtual attribute of type
Real *results in NULL values*.

Looking at the Fields tab of the layer properties shows one difference*:

Both the "normal" and the virtual attribute has "Type" double while the
"normal" attribute has "Type name" Real and the virtual attribute has "Type
name" double. Don't know if that means anything?

Both attributes has length 8 and precision 2.
