[Qgis-user] Memory (Not responding)

2015-03-12 Thread Peter Spangler
Hello QGIS Folks,

As a new user I'm excited to join and learn from this group. When using the
plugin MMQGIS to geo-code a set of 66k addresses QGIS freezes after a few
records and shows "Not Responding"
I am running this on a core i7 with Windows 8 and 16GB of memory. Can I
allocate more memory to QGIS to improve this?

My data:

2015-03-12 Thread Luís de Sousa
Dear all,

I am using QGis 2.8.1 on Ubuntu 14.04. Whenever I try to create a new
mapset with the GRASS plug I get the error message: "Cannot activate
grass". This issue has been reported by a Windows user at SE:

http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/137025/error-when-creating-a-new-mapset-with-grass-in-qgis

In his case he had to set the system user to "the lowest level" -
whatever that means - a fix that only applies to Windows. In my case I
am trying to create mapsets in a folder owned by my user, so there is
not much else I can do regarding permissions.

Any other ideas? Thanks,

Hi QGIS Users,

I would like to ask if anybody have experienced getting different results using
A) Zonal Statistics Plugin and B) Zonal Statistics in Graphical Modeler?

Here is the description of our Dataset:

Vector
5 features (2 features have area of 1.74 and 1.89 ha; 3 features have less than
1 ha. area). These are farmer plots.

Raster
pixel size is 180m X 180m = 3.24ha.

Processing

Running Zonal Statistics in Graphical Modeler:
Only computes realistic statistics for 2 features (area having 1.74 and 1.89
ha) but gives weird computation for features having less than 1 ha. For
features less than 1 ha, it gives values 0. and 1.

Running Zonal Statistics in Raster > Zonal Statistics > Zonal Statistics:
It gives realistic values for all features.

This happens in QGIS "Brighton" and "Wien".

Re: [Qgis-user] Customised attributes form

2015-03-12 Thread Matthias Kuhn
The d'n'd designer is about grouping, positioning and layouting
different fields on a form.

If I understand you correctly, you have 1 single attribute that contains
a list of values.
For that, the linked example is the way to go.

In "setValue" you take 1 value (which is a list of values) and highlight
the appropriate ones on your tree

In "value" you inspect the (user modified) tree and generate a value
from it to save back to the attribute.

This tree widget can then be positioned with the d'n'd designer (or a
QtDesigner form if you like) together with other attributes this layer has.

Yes, the crowdfunding campaign will be launched soon, here is a
preview of the new editing:

You can use the QGIS browser, to be precise, you can drag and drop
GRASS layers from the browser to canvas or legend. That is available
since the browser was introduced.

You can load GRASS 7 layers this way because the provider (which is
not the plugin) has been already upgraded to GRASS 7.

Unfortunately the GRASS API changed between 7.0.0-beta1 and 7.0.0.
Fixed here: https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/commit/1810cdd
You can just download the changed files, replace those in your source
and it should compile.

BUT, another nice problem came up! It is recovery from GRASS fatal
error in threads. GRASS now raises fatal error if topology is not
saved in GRASS 7 version. Normally we can handle fatal error but it is
causing crash if it is raised in non GUI thread, which is the case for
loading items in the browser (in threads since QGIS 2.8). It means
that if you try to open GRASS 6 mapset in the browser, you get crash.

Really very nice problem which I have to inspect closer.

That will be OK, the problem was really bug in QGIS caused by changes in GRASS.

[Qgis-user] Customised attributes form

2015-03-12 Thread emmexx

I'm new to qgis programming and to the inner workings and APIs.
I'd like to use a customized form for editing feature attributes.
I found out the relevant articles on the qgis blog and it works for
simple elements. But I need a more complex widget and an even more
complex management of some of the attribute values.

I have one field whose value is a comma separated list of ids.
The allowed values must be chosen from a tree.
I tried to use a QTreeWidget but I couldn't find a way to manage the
transition from the value in the field and its representation in the
tree widget and vice versa.

I tried to find some signal that let me intercept the feature value
before it is passed or loaded by the tree widget and to intercept the
tree widget value before it is passed to the feature.

Something like beforeLoadValue and beforeSaveValue.

But I'm not sure that is the right strategy in qgis and qt.

I'm not even sure if it's possible to intercept (and modify) the values
of the feature.

Any comments and suggestions are welcomed

Thank you
maxx

Re: [Qgis-user] GRASS dependency problem on OS X

2015-03-12 Thread Howard Frederick
Aha, found it!

I do have a customised .bash_profile but as you say it shouldn’t affect an
application … however, I did start using a custom bash (v 4.3.24 from homebrew)
some time ago, which necessitated changing /etc/shells (I cannot remember why I
thought this was worthwhile). Looking in the QGIS environment variables I found:

SHELL /usr/local/Cellar/bash/4.3.24/bin/bash

… instead of /bin/bash.

GRASS runs fine now that SHELL reports /bin/bash. Fixing this was not trivial,
with several steps before the SHELL variable was reported correctly and GRASS
ran:
I edited /etc/shells to remove the homebrew bash reference;
ran sudo dscl . -change /Users/$USER UserShell
/usr/local/Cellar/bash/4.3.24/bin/bash /bin/bash

Note: adding a custom environment variable in QGIS to set shell did NOT work.

Many thanks for your help on this!

[Qgis-user] Problem loading ArcGIS georeferenced map in QGIS 2.8

2015-03-12 Thread Nicole Stoffels
Hi,

I have an old ArcGIS project, that was build before we switched to QGIS.
I have already worked on it with my older QGIS versions (<= 2.6) and
added new shape files to an ArcGIS georeferenced map.

Now I opened it with my new QGIS version 2.8. My shape layers are
displayed correctly but my old ArcGIS maps are not shown underneath the
shape layers. I can zoom to them, but they suddenly have a completely
different projection (a strange user CRS), while the original EPSG of
the project is 31466 (Gauss-Krueger Zone2).

Does anyone have similar problems? Or a solution? I have already looked
into the ticket list, but could not find anything.

Best wishes
Nicole Stoffels
