may I suggest to publish it anyway, as experimental (so people are
warned, and should not complain about missing support) or in extreme
case as deprecated?
IMHO having it in the main repo will make it much more likely someone
will get interested, possibly taking it over and carrying on its
development.
Thanks.

Here's a forked version of the old topocolour plugin, which does the same:

https://github.com/nyalldawson/topocolour

It's not in the QGIS plugin catalog because it comes with absolutely no
support ;) (I'm happy for someone to take over this if they're interested
in packaging it up properly and handling maintenance).

That said, it works in QGIS >= 2.0 and has numerous improvements to the
coloring algorithm.

Hi Leo

I had the same error a while back and I posted this to the UK QGIS

Anyone getting the following error on the latest update to QGIS via
OSGeo4W? The problem is a copy of msvcr90.dll in the
C:\OSGeo4W\apps\qgis\bin folder which clashes with the copy in
C:\Windows\winsxs\ folder. Removing the DLL from the QGIS folder
allows the program to start without a hitch.

I had the same issue with the standalone 32-bit version on Windows XP.

In my case, deleting the dll from C:\Windows\system32 solved the problem.

Hello,
I have a vector layer (points) and a wms layer.
I can get info from any point in the wms , and get as answer a html or text
table with the properties of that point. How can I copy those values into a
vector layer? From vector layer tovectorlayer, This can be done with Spatial
Join. What about a raster layer as data source?

For bugfixing you can hire a developer (single or company) and ask for the
price.
My company is one that does it (http://gis3w.it) but you can find others

2015-03-31 Thread Peter Borissow
I'm not familiar with sponsoring QGIS development. The sponsorship page makes
it sound like there's an annual commitment and there's no indication of how to
direct funds for a specific task:

http://qgis.org/en/site/getinvolved/governance/sponsorship/sponsorship.html

Perhaps a kickstarter campaign would be better? I personally would donate my
own time/money to get this fixed. Maybe others would too.

In any event (sponsorship vs kickstarter), we would need to know much money I
would need to raise to support this initiative.
Thoughts/suggestions?

To cache a whole WFS and start seems overboard, in that case why
wouldn't you just download the data set. BBOX is a must for web services
as a main part of the purpose is to allow users to only grab the part
they need when they need it.

Thanks Giovanni-    Do you know when the dev team is planning the next release?
I wonder if there's time to get this fixed before the next release.

That's exactly how I would expect it to work.

To cache a whole WFS and start seems overboard, in that case why
wouldn't you just download the data set. BBOX is a must for web services
as a main part of the purpose is to allow users to only grab the part
they need when they need it.

Thanks,
Alex

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS 2.8 runtime error

2015-03-31 Thread McDonaldR
Hi Leo

I had the same error a while back and I posted this to the UK QGIS user group:

Anyone getting the following error on the latest update to QGIS via OSGeo4W?
The problem is a copy of msvcr90.dll in the C:\OSGeo4W\apps\qgis\bin folder
which clashes with the copy in C:\Windows\winsxs\ folder. Removing the DLL
from the QGIS folder allows the program to start without a hitch. If you have
QGIS DEV installed there is no issue.

This post provided the answer and method:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14552348/runtime-error-r6034-in-embedded-python-application/14680947#14680947

This happened after using the OSGeo4W installer to upgrade to QGIS 2.6.1-2

Whether this is just my install environment or affects everyone, I don’t know.

Hope it helps

Ross

Subject: [Qgis-user] QGIS 2.8 runtime error

Hi QGIS Users,

I have this problem when opening QGIS. It reports:

Runtime error:
Program C:\OSGeo4W\bin\qgis-bin.exe
R6034
An application has made an attempt to load C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

After clicking "OK" it loads QGIS. I have not tried to process anything so I
have no idea if this will affect some of the functions in QGIS.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit. Installed QGIS via OSGeo 32bit.

note: I already restarted my laptop.

Thanks in advance for any help,
-Leo

[Qgis-user] Re : [Qgis-developer] Pyqt4 : which signal is sent when dialog comes to foreground?

2015-03-31 Thread Junior
Hi all, Luca
Thanks for answering. But i already have an update function that I linked to an
update list button. I even linked it to the icon on the toolbar so that when
user calls foreground the dialog it's already updated.
The case I'd like to manage: user can open plugin dialog and composer manager.
The two dialogs are visible (to the eyes) even though composer manager is the
one at foreground. He makes changes and directly clicked on the plugin dialog.
He should update list but if he forgets and executes, this may lead to bug I
don't want to / can't yet manage.
Reason why I want to ensure that list is always up to date when he interacts
with the dialog
