Hi, if you have several points it is maybe easier to define the coordinates in a csv file and create the points with the delimited text import. [Qgis-user] Not able to connect to Oracle via ODBC
Hello, What I am trying to do: Add a vector layer from an remote Oracle database. Description: I tried to add a vector layer using ODBC connectivity to an Oracle database on QGIS 2.8.2. Add vector Layer Choose Database Type ODBC Click New I filled the form as: Type ODBC Name: myODBCConnection Host: ssfdata Database: CAAR Port: 1521 Username: USER Password: PASS When I clicked Test Connection I got: Connection failed - Check settings and try again Extended error information: Unable to initialize ODBC connection to DSN for USER/PASS@CAAR, [unixODBC][Driver Manager] Datasource name not found, and no default driver specified I opened a terminal window and I typed: Isql -v caarODBC I was able to connect to my database ++ | Connected| | | | sql -statement | | help [tablename] | | quit | ++ SQL So the unixODBC driver works for the database but QGIS is not able to access via ODBC. Is any special settings related qgis to make ODBC working? [Qgis-user] registration error in map composer
My map consists of a few shapefiles in spatial reference psuedo mercator and streamed google satellite imagery. It looks fine in map composer, but when I export it to any format there is a registration error and my data doesn't line up with the imagery. I've had this problem in various versions of QGIS, installed on both iOS and Windows operating systems. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance. When i use dxf2shp function i can´t to see the attribute, for example: i need to convert contours (topography) of dxf to shp, but, the attribute of height don't appears. [Qgis-user] Time Manager to shade housing completion
Hello, I have a polygon shape file that represents about 200 buildings in a housing community. I have the dates each building is planned to reach 20%, 40%, 60% and 100% complete. I would like to use Time Manager to create an animation that shades the building different colors until they are 100% complete. Can this be done with Time Manager? Is there any tutorial that shows how to do it? Not sure how to set up the shape file or files to do it. Hi, There are a number of open source tool to work with Lidar with or outside of QGIS. Lastools has some open source tools. Read the licence file to figure out what is open source and what is not. If it for professional work, lastools are very fast so you might save money if you buy it. Saga has some Lidar libraries, viewers and so does Grass. You can also use the gdal_grid to do a DEM using the nearest neighbor algorithm and a 3 or 4 m radius. (Use csv file with a vrt file). Stay away from shp. You can then fill in the no data value with gd. If gdal is slow, I have recompiled it on windows 64 to make it much faster (but you will need memory). I can send it to you. You can also try the gdal dev 2.1. That has been modified for extra speed but I need to test it. To manipulate data, you can use vim for text file up to 2 or 3 GB. If your file are bigger, it is better to use python directly. There is also cloud compare, Fusion, Mcc-lidar library.
