Re: [Qgis-user] GPS mit TAB und QGIS
Hi Stefan, My Tablet has Windows 8. I can not make the Konfigiration. I keep getting the message: Connection failed. The tablet itself has a GNSS Receiver integrated. Re: [Qgis-user] hughe file project file size with qgis 2.10
Hi Lars, Wow - this must be a big bug. I also have quite large QGIS projects (50-100 layers) - but they are never beyond 1 MB in filesize. Did you report this as a bug? Maybe Nyall could have a look at it, as he did the layer effects stuff. We will have some paid developers working on bug fixing - such a bug should be definitely fixed. If it is in 2.10, chances are high that it is also in QGIS master. An dreas On 21.09.2015 10:25, lars lingner wrote: Hello, with version 2.10 my Qgis project files are getting much bigger. With v2.8 the largest file size was about 18 MB. In that file there are 63 layers organized in layer groups. The styling is quite complex and uses multiple classes for the majority of the layers. As data source there is a Postgis database. With v2.10 the file size grows to 80 MB. This happens when I open the v2.8 version and save it v2.10. No changes are being made. Looking at a diff, I see an affect block repeated multiple times: In my case, this block is repeated 19808 times. Removing all of them the file still works. For my use case Qgis Server is consuming the project files. With this large file size I'm getting a lot time out errors. My workaround is to remove all unnecessary definitions to keep the size small. Is there a way to prevent Qgis from creating these blocks? I'm thinking (aka dreaming) about a special save mode for Qgis server files. Have other users made the same experience? I'm happy to open a ticket if it helps to understand and solve this issue. [Qgis-user] Raster Clip Delta CRS / WGS84 & BaseCamp
Hi everybody, I wonder if someone in this community/forum can explain me what I am going to describe. 1 - I have an "ecw" raster file with a CRS already defines as "EPSG 102091" (Monte_Mario_Italy_1). I have create a polygon (I have set the parameter CRS as "EPSG 102091" too) and I use it as a mask to clip a portion of the raster through "GDAL Clip raster by mask layer". Then I saved this portion of the raster as a new file. When I open the clipped raster, the CRS is not "EPSG 102091" anymore but "EPSG 3003" that, of course, is always a Monte Mario (exactly "Monte Mario / Italy zone 1") but I wonder why is not "EPSG 102091" also in the portion I have clipped. What disturd me is also that these two RS are not exactly the same, as also stated here: http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/102541/any-difference-between-epsg3003-and-epsg102091 Anyone can explain me why that happens? 2 - Maybe here is not the place for this question, but I try... I have converted the previous portion in EPSG 3003 into a common WGS84 ("EPSG 4326") through GDAL Warp (reproject) and, looking at the new raster, it seems that the tool performs the operation properly. Sorry, this portion is located in the middle of Sardinia. Then I create a kmz file through "Create Garmin cusrom map from map canvas" tool, I imported this file (in the proper file extension and with the proper CRS, wgs84) in the Garmin BaseCamp but my area is not where it should supposed to be, Sardinia, but is between Albacete and Madrid, in Spain (yes, BaseCamp view is set in wgs84), any idea? [Qgis-user] Open Layers Plugin - Question about Google Maps/Earth Policy
Hello, I am operating on OS X version 10.9.5 and am using QGIS 2.6.1 - Brighton. I am using the Open Layers Plugin version 1.3.6 (Google maps) to create shapefiles and edit existing shapefiles over the Google map plugin data. I happened notice that in the Google Maps/Earth Permissions page under "Geo Permissions" a FAQ was posed: http://www.google.com/permissions/geoguidelines.html "I'd like to trace a map using your imagery. Can I?" The response: "You may not use Google Maps or Google Earth as the basis for tracing your own maps or other geographic content." My question: Does QGIS have some sort of agreement with Google Maps/Earth which allow the mapping community to use the plugin they have provided? Can anyone assist? But I think to remember that the Bing-maps are available for georeferencing, cause they are used in OpenStreetMap editors (But I don't know if this only allowed for OpenStreetMap data) Apart from those "legal" issues, I recommend you to try the new QuickMapServices plugin. Re: [Qgis-user] Open Layers Plugin - Question about Google Maps/Earth Policy
I think the issue here is that google did not take the aerial imagery themselves they just buy it in/license it from 3rd parties and google do not have agreements with these 3rd parties to let it be used for all purposes so they can't say other people can use it in this way. Presumably Microsoft have different sorts of agreements with the people who take the aerial imagery. [Qgis-user] Cluster solutions for point data
Hello, I am not sure how to define clustering solutions in QGIS and wonder if there is a simple route for this? The data are x, y and z (depth). What I am looking to do is find the centroid of dense clusterings where there is a "common depth range". Now, I can find the mean values in a radius about a point to give a value, but this is not always located over dense solution areas. [Qgis-user] QuickMapServices plugin-lost the ArcGIS button upon reinstall of QGIS 2.10
I agree that the QuickMapServices plugin is the answer to basemap imagery. I had been using the ESRI world imagery as a basemap. Superior to Google Earth since there is no registration problem with other data layers as there is with the GE imagery. Additionally, there seems to be no restriction for noncommercial data use as with GE, provided the data is credited to ESRI. However, I managed to somehow corrupt the 2.10 original install-something to do with the style manager/color ramps. After several very tedious attempts to do clean installs I finally managed to get 2.10 to run again. Unfortunately, the QuickMapServices button for the ESRI data no longer exists. I did find the same imagery through the ArcGIS REST API Connector plugin. My existing projects still have the "ArcGIS Online Imagery" layer created through the lost plugin that is functional. Both this layer and the REST basemaps are from the http://server.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Imagery/MapServer I am very new to QGIS, so I learned too late where to find the traceback data so as to provide further info about the corruption of my original 2.10, which had the QMS ESRI button. This post is just to provide an imagery suggestion and to mention the bug? (which I did not report formally) with the disappearing QMS ESRI button. Thank you to all of you who continue to provide and support such a superior GIS application as QGIS.
