Re: [Qgis-user] repeat image on every page in print composer

2015-10-20 Thread Andreas Neumann

Hi Joris,

Actually there are plans to create a report generator in one of the
upcoming QGIS versions. Nyall Dawson works on this.

But the ability to repeat an item on every page could go into QGIS
before that - e.g. the next version. It could go into the general
"Rendering properties" of a print composer item.

You can ask Nyall Dawson about a quote - if you need this.

Hi Joris,

Currently, only the HTML item has a "Repeat on every page" option. So - as your
workaround you could write a very small HTML, which references an image.

I agree, an option to repeat an item on every page would be useful for any
element - e.g. labels, image, etc.

If you talk about Atlas context - of course all the elements in the Atlas
template would repeat on every page ...

why do you need the same geometry type in order to make a join ?
You just need one common field.

2015-10-20 Thread Richard McDonnell
I do like the pop up window, but the problem with is that it disappears
to the back, when you go to pan or zoom out, the option to have it auto
close would be nice, also to have them stay on top until you close them
or pan/zoom, this could allow you to select one or two entity's for
comparison or editing for example. Upon panning or zooming they both
close...does that make sense?
Actually I am thinking along the lines of something like the Attribute
table, but where you filter by selection!

[Qgis-user] Set default view for Identify window?

2015-10-20 Thread Robin Wilson
Hi,

I've recently found the 'Table' and 'Graph' views that are available in the
QGIS Identify docked window - and they're great. Is there a way to set one of
these as the default view, as opposed to the 'standard' default view of Tree?

If not, I'd be happy to have a go at implementing this - though I'm more
experienced at Python programming than C++, and I imagine this would require
changes in the core QGIS rather than through a plugin.

Cheers,

Robin

Hi,

I haven't really test it, but there is now a new functionality (created by
Nyall) in master, that will allow us to control which layers (or preset) to
show in the print composer.

I believe that with the right coverage layer (a combination between the
features normaly used in atlas and all presets names or layers list to
cycle), It will be possible to use one single page to create the all the
needed maps for each feature.

Not sure if I explained myself... :-P

Yes - that is in master. One can now select which layers or visibility
presets should be chosen (data-defined).

I used this to generate an Atlas over each administrative unit and for
each administrative unit a time-series (iterating over historic maps
from different years). Works fine, if your coverage layer contains
combinations of extent and time. I used a Postgis view with joins for
creating that coverage layer.

[Qgis-user] Adding postgis views to qgis

2015-10-20 Thread Piotr Kania

Hi!

I just started to explore "postgis world" so sorry if my question is
"silly".

In my postgis database I have multipolygon layer 'public.polygons'
(gid, geom), I'd like to see vertices of those layer during editing,
that's why I thought of postgis view. I create that in database:

CREATE VIEW points_of_polygons AS SELECT ST_DumpPoints(geom) AS geom
FROM public.polygons;

But I can't add that view to Qgis, I found that info:

http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/12233/in-postgis-is-it-possible-to-create-a-view-with-a-unique-id

http://linfiniti.com/2011/11/adding-a-counter-to-postgresql-query-results/

but I don't know how to use it, can anyone (step by step) explain how to
do that? Thanks

Did you have any specific ideas yourself?

I'm keen to see it work as well as possible - it's one of the bits of QGIS that
I use the most (I write most of my analysis code in separate standalone Python
scripts, and then use QGIS for investigating and visualising the output). The
table and graph views are great - but possibly need a bit of work (eg. I opened
a bug report on an issue with the graph and NaN values in bands - see
https://hub.qgis.org/issues/13639 ). I still
far prefer it to the equivalent windows in other tools (ArcGIS, for instance).

Views are not selectable from the Add PostGIS icon. But starting in version
2.10 you can add the view points_of_polygons by using the DB Manager. A
unique id is no longer required. If you are using an earlier version then
you'll need to create a unique row number. The stackexchange link you
provided gives an example of using ROWNUMBER() OVER() to create the unique
id.

Re: [Qgis-user] qgis possible malware false positive

2015-10-20 Thread James Keener
Just to be sure: You did get your binary from
https://qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html ?

My first instinct would be to have IT tell you exactly which malware was
found. If they believe QGIS _itself_ is maleware, then you need to do
different things than if they simply believe it's infected with maleware.

Hi,

Although quite old, this announcement could help you demonstrate the QGIS
code is "enough serious" for your IT folks http://www.osgeo.org/node/611
The sponsorships (money or time) from various companies and local or
national authorities should also help (bottom page of http://qgis.org web
page and sponsoring page http://qgis.org/en/site/about/sponsorship.html).

Cheers

[Qgis-user] qgis possible malware false positive

I work for a state government in the US. I have been using QGIS since
version 2.0. I recently downloaded and installed 2.10. The folks in IT
informed me that qgis was showing up as possible malware and they wiped my
computer. Now I will begin the battle to get it back. I have seen in some
searches that many versions ago QGIS was showing false positives for
viruses. Is this still a thing that others come across? Does anybody have
any information that can help me convince them this program is safe to
install?

Re: [Qgis-user] qgis possible malware false positive

2015-10-20 Thread Frank Howell
One issue to your IT folks findings is what software suite did they use to
scan QGIS 2.10. Some clearly have known false positives (AVG with PDF
files, for instance). Have them use several scanning suites to see if there
is a consistent signature that is being picked up. More work but better IT!

Re: [Qgis-user] RES: Set default view for Identify window?

2015-10-20 Thread jhcarneiro

Good solution. One thing I noticed though is that the action isn't immediately
visible in the identify window. This may have to do with the tree mode. Any way
to configure so that actions are always on a zero node of the tree?

:
This is possible if you use  Actions in the Styling
Here is an example of one I prepared to open DXF's from within QGIS
    (see image below)
[% "LOCATION" %]/[% "FORMAT" %]/[% "SCALE" %]/full/[% "MAP_NUMBER"
    %].[% "FORMAT" %]
The Data is a Vector Tile Index for OSi DXF maps for the entire
country (Ireland), I use multiple fields to create the file
extension, as  it easily allows me to edit the "LOCATION" Field, to
change drive locations for other departments. The values in the ""
are the Column Headers, so I have:
*  "LOCATION" Root Folder Location (Eg...C:/Osi_Maps)
*  "FORMAT" Data supplied in DXF and NTF (egDXF)
*  "SCALE" 1:1000, 2500 & 5000 (eg.1000)
*  "MAP_NUMBER" OSi Index Number
*  "FORMAT" again
The above string then constructs the Path to the Vector resulting
  in for example
C:/Osi_Maps/DXF/1000/full/1000_a.dxf
Clear as Mud eh!!!
