Hi,

ALOS World 3D - 30m (AW3D30) data may be also considered an
alternative (http://www.eorc.jaxa.jp/ALOS/en/aw3d30/), for the time
being already available for substantial parts of Southern Asia and
South America. Informations on how resolution and error margins of the
dataset compare to ASTERDEM or SRTM30 will be appreciated.

Re: [Qgis-user] Including Images in Print Composer Templates

2016-01-28 Thread Bernhard Ströbl

Hi,

this is not an answer to your question but what I do is to load images
with an URL pointing to one of our internal web servers. This works
perfectly in templates being loaded on different machines with different
OS, too.

referenced from a path relative to the template file.

It seems that when saving as a template (QGIS 2.8.3 on Win7), the .QPT file
references the image file as a relative path, but apparently relative to
the project rather than the template. Since I'm trying to distribute these
templates to other users, and I can't predict their filesystem layout, I'm
trying to figure out a way to reference the image relative to the template
itself.

I have tried editing the .QPT source in several ways to make this work:

1.

Simply the image filename, with the image in the same directory as the
template. Fails to load with a red X.

2.

Relative path style "current directory" with the image in the same
directory as template. Fails to load because QGIS resolves the path to the
PROJECT dir rather than the template dir.

3. Absolute path to the .SVG image. This works, but I don't know nor want
to dictate where a user places their templates.

4. Relative path to project. This works, and forcing users to store
templates in some fixed location relative to all their projects is a
solution, though not one I want to force on them.

Is there a way to refer to an image file relative to the template itself,
OR a way to include the contents of an .SVG image inside the .QPT template?

Thanks!

[Qgis-user] QGIS - shp2kml

2016-01-28 Thread Ventura Bartolomeo
Hi all

starting from a .csv file I created a kml file using QGIS (2.8 Wien). The .csv
file has 5 columns in the following order: Latitude, Longitude, Name, parameter
and temporal acquisition. When I create the .kml file it puts the place-mark in
the correct position but instead of seeing names I see numbers. These numbers
correspond to the "Feature Id" showed when clicking on "Identify feature"
button.

Is there a way to change these numbers into another value, possibly using the
"name" column directly, in order to see the name and not a number on Google
Earth?

Thanks

[Qgis-user] QGIS crashes when using mouse wheel to zoom in and out of WMTS services

2016-01-28 Thread Chris Buckmaster
Hi

I am finding that QGIS (v 2.12.1) keeps crashing when trying to use the mouse
wheel to zoom in and out of WMTS services.

If I just scroll it once, it is fine as it will scroll in or out to the next
scale level. But if I want to quickly zoom right into a location and I try and
immediately scroll 4 or 5 times, the WMTS does not redraw and QGIS just freezes.

I am not sure if others have this problem? I know in past versions you were not
able to scroll into levels before the next level had been rendered, something
we might need to look at going back to if there is a problem with scrolling in
and out similar to web maps.

Thanks, Chris

Hi Flemming,

Unless other people report this in upcoming hours, I think it is those
pesky virus scanners again: Windows Virus Scanners are known to give
false positives (Google for QGIS and Virus or Trojan).

Have a look at the description:

https://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2010-022501-5526-99

Trojan.Gen:

Risk Level 1: Very Low

Trojan.Gen is a generic detection for many individual but varied Trojans for
which specific definitions have not been created. A generic detection is used
because it protects against many Trojans that share similar characteristics.

This looks like bad heuristics in the virus scanner to me and not like a
problem on our side.

Unless we are provided with the details of why this "generic detection" finds
an undefined (that's what "specific definitions have not been created"
translates to) trojan, the ball is on Symantec's court to be more specific
about the problem.

Re: [Qgis-user] Eliminate GAPS SRTM 30 metros

2016-01-28 Thread Nicolas Cadieux
Hi,
Thank for that data link. I did not know about it.  I am currently doing a
PhD on various publicly available  DEMs in Canada.  My research
focuses in  Canada because SRTMs are more precise in the north and south
(tighter orbit, more data, leaf off).  All this is better for the SRTM
radar.   I should have more results in about one month and I will
submit my results for publication.  Hopefully, I will also have the latest
NASA DEM is my study as they should be publish in June.
So far, SRTM 30 and 90m  have about haft the error of aster gdem2.
There is not much loss with the 90 m srtm but the 90 m pixel does suffer in
mountainous regions. Most of the error from the ASTER data is cause clearly by
the tree cover.  The SRTM radar has a good vegetation penetration in
Canada (leaf off).  Aster is made from near infra red images and therefore
has no canopy penetration. But radar is generally smother partly because
smoothing is part of the data noise reduction in radar images.  ASTER has
a sharper image resolution even if the pixel size is the same size but this
comes at the expense of extra noise.
I will be happy to communicate more result as I get them.

2016-01-28 Thread Nicolas Cadieux
Hi,
For all those interested, the zip file contains a direct http link to
all the strmgl1 data. You just need to cut and paste the links in a
browser. You can use a software like win htttrack to download what you
need or use a python script to do the job.
Cheers
Nicolas

[Qgis-user] Qgis Boundless Web Builder

2016-01-28 Thread Graham Walker
Hello all,

I'm having issues styling layers using the Boundless Web Builder,
specifically lines. Whilst I can easily publish lines using a single style
or categorized styles, I cannot style as graduated. I get an error:

"Could not create web app. See QGIS log for more details."

The log states:

"C:/PROGRA~2/BOUNDL~1/QGIS/qgis/apps/qgis/./python/plugins\webappbuilder\maindialog.py",
line 427, in updatePreview

path = self._run(lambda: writeWebApp(appdef, utils.tempFolder(), True,
self.progress))

File
"C:/PROGRA~2/BOUNDL~1/QGIS/qgis/apps/qgis/./python/plugins\webappbuilder\maindialog.py",
line 418, in _run

return f()

File
"C:/PROGRA~2/BOUNDL~1/QGIS/qgis/apps/qgis/./python/plugins\webappbuilder\maindialog.py",
line 427, in

path = self._run(lambda: writeWebApp(appdef, utils.tempFolder(), True,
self.progress))

File
"C:/PROGRA~2/BOUNDL~1/QGIS/qgis/apps/qgis/./python/plugins\webappbuilder\appwriter.py",
line 33, in writeWebApp

writeJs(appdef, folder)

File
"C:/PROGRA~2/BOUNDL~1/QGIS/qgis/apps/qgis/./python/plugins\webappbuilder\appwriter.py",
line 48, in writeJs

writeLegendFiles(appdef, folder)

File
"C:/PROGRA~2/BOUNDL~1/QGIS/qgis/apps/qgis/./python/plugins\webappbuilder\appwriter.py",
line 544, in writeLegendFiles

symbols = getLegendSymbols(layer, ilayer, legendFolder)

File
"C:/PROGRA~2/BOUNDL~1/QGIS/qgis/apps/qgis/./python/plugins\webappbuilder\appwriter.py",
line 569, in getLegendSymbols

for isymbol, ran in renderer.ranges():

TypeError: 'QgsRendererRangeV2' object is not iterable

Does anyone have any experience of this? The styles themselves are not
complicated and I've not assigned any rules.

Many thanks,

Graham

2016-01-28 Thread ralfwessels
Hi Ventura,
I guess you loaded your csv with "AddDelimited text Layer" into QGIS.
From here right click at the generated layer, use "Save As" and choose KML
as output format.
Under Datasource options use "Description"in the DescriptionField
(standard) and in the NameField write the column title of you datasource you
want as "placemark title".

[Qgis-user] Error installing QgsWcsClient2

2016-01-28 Thread Robert van Oostwaard
While running QGIS on a Windows 7 box, I am trying ot install the plugin
'QgsWcsClient2'

Every time I try I get the following error message:
The plugin is broken. Python said:
No module named lxml

Outside of QGIS I have installed Python 2.7 and the lxml-3.4.0-py2.7 plugin
I have set environment variables:
PYTHONHOME=C:\Python27
PYTHONPATH=C:\Python27\Lib

Something in QGIS seems to be unable to find the plugin where it is actually
installed.
I have looked through the archive and I have not found a thread with this issue.
Anyone have any ideas?

Further setup details

QGIS version: 2.12.9-Lyon
Installed at: C:\Program Files\QGIS Lyon

Python version:2.7.10
Installed at: C:\Python27

PLUGIN name:lxml-3.4.0-py2.7
PLUGIN version: 3.4.0
Installed at:C:\Python27\Lib\site-packages\lxml

OS Version: Windows7

P.S. I do hope that I have posted this at the right spot! :-)

Re: [Qgis-user] Qgis Boundless Web Builder

2016-01-28 Thread Victor Olaya
Graham

The version you have is the one published with an older release of our
QGIs build, i guess. That 's a very old version, in alpha state. The
new Web App Builder will be released soon, with a different approach
based on the Boundles WebSDK. Until then, I recommend you to use the
QGIS2Web plugin instead.
