Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS Viewer

2016-06-30 Thread Tyler Veinot
Well there seems to be plenty of options; I like the idea of disabling some of
the interface options. I highly doubt too many of my coworkers know how to
access the registry and those that do I am not worried about making edits.
Thanks all.

You need to install vcredist_x64.exe(or *_x86.exe) to your environment.
Please you see below.

Thanks. I did
$ qgis numbers/chain_number.qgs
and indeed saw your line with the four digit numbers on it.

Actually I think I should avoid doing my project by hand via
mouseclicks (Qgis), and instead learn PostGIS and write "batch job" SQL script
SELECT points WHERE each point is at 25 meter increments from the start
of road. Then print label on alternating side of road etc.
Maybe I can accomplish the whole thing without a GUI.

I'll send this to both lists.

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS Viewer

2016-06-30 Thread Eric Goddard
If you're using the OSGeo4W installer, you could uninstall the filegdb
api so that QGIS has to use the OpenFileGDB driver (which is read
only) to view file geodatabases. The QGIS stand-alone installer just
has the OpenFileGDB driver, so nothing extra is required there.

[Qgis-user] QGIS 2.14 Essen for Censtos has several errors

2016-06-30 Thread Tudorache, Marian
Hi everyone,

I have finished the installation of QGIS 2.14 on Centos 7.
For example a lot of ui files uses QWebView which I have to replace with
QTextBrowser.
Here is the list with errors:

1.  vector.py from /usr/share/qgis/python/plugins/processing/tools.

a.  Fails at the line import spatialite_utils because spatialite_utils;

b.  Since I do not use spatialite I decided to comment out the line;

2.  DlgResults.ui, DlgHelpEdition.ui, DlgAlgorithmBase.ui,
DlgGetScriptsAndModels.ui contains QWebView but when these are loaded an error
pops up: ImportError: No module named QtWebKit.QWebView.

a. I have found two possible solutions to fix this:

i. Replace the QWebView
with QTextBrowser in ui file;

   ii. Find the python file
responsible with loading of each ui file and introduce the import statement:

From PyQt4.QtWebKit import QWebView

For example for DlgResults.ui file I have to modify the file ResultsDialog.py

I implemented the first fix

b. In the file ModelerParametersDialog.py I have added from PyQt4.QtGui import
QTextBrowser as QWebView

 i. I think you do not have to add this line if you
implement the second fix from a)

3. ImportError: No module named Qsci.qsciscintilla on the file
ui_console_compile_apis.py.

a. I had to replace the statement from Qsci.qsciscintilla import QsciScintilla
with from PyQt4.Qsci import QsciScintilla

Please let me know if you have any question.

Marian

The other approach I've seen is to use a plugin to disable and hide most
of the interface.

How are users accessing the data? If they're connecting to a
database, can you simply not give them update permission? If it's
files, can you can keep read-only master copies on a public
store/shared drive?

Re: [Qgis-user] regularly spaced address markers on alternating side of road

2016-06-30 Thread Dan Jacobson
OK I found
http://postgis.refractions.net/documentation/manual-svn/reference.html#Linear_Referencing

So I should:
1. Learn how to import my vector roads from .kmz into postgis. (I'll Google
that.)

2. Use http://postgis.net/docs/ST_Length.html to get the length (L in meters)
of each
of my roads.

3. Write the equivalent of perl:
for($i=0; $i <= 1; $address++, $i += 25/$L){print ST_Line_Interpolate_Point $i;}

4. Make / print a label ($address) at that point.

5. For extra bonus, figure out to offset the label:
perpendicular to the road at 3 * ($address % 2 ? -1 : 1) meters.

Thanks.

[Qgis-user] QGIS Viewer

2016-06-30 Thread Tyler Veinot
Hi again;
Just wondering if there is a QGIS Viewer available, or any suggestions as
to what I can use that is open source with some basic spatial search
capabilities and can view filegeodatabases?

I have been deploying QGIS to our staff to view our GIS Data and I am
starting to get a little nervous where someone could easily do some awesome
geoprocessing damage to our data if they got to messing about. So does QGIS
have something like Esri's Arc Explorer?

Re: [Qgis-user] Align points to lines

2016-06-30 Thread Micha Silver

I use a few GRASS procedures to snap points to a line (i.e. snap
gauges to a stream network) as follows:

# Add columns to the stations vector for snapped_x and snapped_y
  and get coordinates
echo -e "\n** Snapping stations to streams  **"
v.db.addcolumn --q map=$POINTS columns="snap_x double,
  snap_y double"
# Temporatily change region stations input vector, and get
  snap coords
# so that all stations get the correct snap coords - even
  those outside current domain
v.distance --q --o from=stations to=streams
  output=connectors upload=to_x,to_y column=snap_x,snap_y
# Create a new stations vector with the snap_x and snap_y
  columns
g.remove -f vect name=frxst_pts
# Use v.out.ascii with -r option to export only drainage
  point in current region (domain)
# snap_x and snap_y columns become the X-Y coordinates for
  frxst_pts point vector
v.out.ascii --q -r -c stations
  columns="id,station_name,station_num,longitude,latitude,snap_x,snap_y"
  separator=comma | v.in.ascii --q --o input=- output=frxst_pts x=8
  y=9 cat=3 columns="east double,north double,id
  integer,station_name text,station_num integer,longitude
  double,latitude double,snap_x double,snap_y double"
  separator=comma skip=1

The crux of the above commands is the "v.distance" line. This
command checks the distance from each point to the line, and uploads
to the line vector the x-y coordinates of intersection. This
distance is the length of the perpendicular from the point to the
line.
Then the last command "v.in.ascii ... | v.out.ascii ..." takes those
point coordinates, and exports to a new point vector.

The problem with the PostGIS function ST_ClosestPoint is that it
finds the closest vertex that *already exists* on the line feature.
So if one of the points is near to a straight line segment, the
chosen vertex might be actually far from the point.

You could probably query to find the closest line from each point

Hi Tyler, not exactly what you need, but I use a combination of the
following to snap a point shp to a line shp.

v .to.points set at 0.5m distances on line layer (obviously the lower the
more accurate)

Distance to nearest hub from original point to newly created point,output
as line

Join attributes by location using v.to.points layer as target and nearest
hub layer as join vector layer. Wet predicate to touches. Take attributes
of first located feature and only keep matching records.

You could probably query to find the closest line from each point once you
have run distance from hub.

Hope that's of some use.

[Qgis-user] Question on Atlas in version 2.14.3

2016-06-30 Thread Randal Hale

I'm using 2.14.3 On Ubuntu 16.04 - haven't tried this on windows yet.

I've got a long running Atlas project. Usually every couple of months I
open it and export out two maps. I've got a pile of summary columns and
areas calculated and things that makes the map useful for the client
(all of that in postgis). Up until 2.14.3 - it opens and exports
everything out. Today I open it and none of the fields are display
anymore. I even built a new Atlas page and couldn't pull in attributes.

Up until now this expression: [% "cartoacres" %] would correctly display
the data in the field cartoacres out of my data. Today - it's blank. Is
this still right? Or did my brain do a Brainxit this morning. I noticed
several other small oddities - like text being slightly moved and my
scale being slightly off.

Re: [Qgis-user] Pie charts in QGIS

2016-06-30 Thread Richard McDonnell

Giulia,
Are your labels on a separate Layer? you wont be able to move both
together if they are.
If you have everything on the one layer and the labels are associated
with the charts then its an easy enough task. You have 2 options.

 * Manually move the point representing the location of the Pie Chart
   you wish to locate, not the most ideal, but the quickest.

  OR

 * Add two additional columns to your table for an alternative *X* and
   *Y* location coordinate (alt_x and alt_y for example) and use the
   *Data defined positions* under *Placement* under *Diagrams* in the
   *Layer Properties*. You can select the new columns as your
   alternative locations. Use the field calculator to add the fields,
   you can put the current X,Y coordinates in using *$X* for your X
   coordinates and *$Y* for the Y coordinates.

You could also do the same for the labels if they are separate, and use
the move label tool, this will update your X and Y alternative
coordinates accordingly.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Richard.
