[Qgis-user] qgis installation problems

2017-03-29 Thread Filipe Dias
Hi

I am on Ubuntu 16.04 and trying a fresh installtion of the latest 2.18.x
version with ubuntugis dependencies. I have both "ubuntugis unstable" and
http://qgis.org/ubuntugis";. However this happens:

fd@fd-XPS:~$ sudo apt-get install qgis python-qgis
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
python-qgis : Depends: libqgis-analysis2.18.5 but it is not going to be
installed
Depends: libqgis-server2.18.5 but it is not going to be
installed
qgis : Depends: gdal-abi-2-1-2 but it is not installable
Depends: libqgis-analysis2.18.5 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libqgis-app2.18.5 but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: qgis-plugin-globe but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: qgis-plugin-grass but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: qgis-provider-grass but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

2017-03-29 Thread Randal Hale
If I understand correctly there is a new version of GDAL in UbuntuGIS
that is causing a conflict. They are working to resolve it. For instance
- I am on 2.18.4 and can't upgrade currently. I would install just from
the QGIS Repository and wait a bit - then upgrade to UbuntuGIS in a few
days.

On top of that, there is a problem in the Ubuntu libtiff recent patch,
which breaks QGIS.

Thank you for the thoughtful suggestions. I don't have a lot of experience
digging into these types of crash reports, and I wasn't sure if the
information in that report would be of interest to anybody. I pasted the
full report into pastebin as you suggested (thanks for that idea, I had not
heard of pastebin before).

This time, it lists thread 27 as the crashed thread. I looked through the
report for details of that, and see this information, thought I don't
really understand what this tells me, or how to resolve this.

2017-03-29 Thread NPE NewPathEconometrics
The relevant response from John H was:

"Your stack indicates the Qt crashed trying to draw an ellipse, as
invoked by QGIS while attempting to start rendering of a marker symbol.
This is probably a straightforward crash to resolve by someone familiar
with the code."

I'm new to using these lists and fairly new to QGIS. Should I file this as
a bug with the QGIS group?

[Qgis-user] QGIS Server Process Crash

2017-03-29 Thread Simon Greener
QGIS Serverites,

Currently running QGIS Server 2.18.3 64bit on Virtual Machine.

Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard.
Intel (R) Xeon (R) CPYU E5-2640 v4 @2.40GHa
Installed memory (RAM) 32GB
Total disk space 149.36GB

Previously we were running 2.14 LTS 32 bit.

We are trying to serve a number of project files.
The source of the data is Oracle with some imagery.

Ever since testing commenced (over 6 months ago), we have not been able to
stabilize QGIS Server.
We have reviewed all our Oracle data and ensured that all QGIS settings
ensured fast access.

We continue to get processes failing, particularly as we add more than one
user to the system.
These process crashes kill the WMS data being returned to the client.

The Windows Application Event Logs show entries such as the following (most
common):

We are tearing our hair out trying to work out why we cannot stabilize QGIS

Sure, a crash is always a bad thing.

And if you provide enough information, others can try to reproduce it
first (with exact the data (or parts of it) or the steps you did to make
it crash).

Please provide as much information as possible, as non devs can then try
to reproduce your crash. Maybe also try if you can reproduce the crash
on another machine too? To be sure it is not a local
installation/library problem.

I'll sent you the mantra you need to registre in a private email.
