[Qgis-user] Cannot run external scripts with QGIS 3.2 on Mac OS X 10.12

2018-08-02 Thread Chris B
Hello, I also posted this on StackExchange but since it seems like an
installation/config issue this might be a better place to find out. I am
trying to move some automation out of the QGIS 3.2 GUI and into some
external python scripts, and I am having a challenge getting a script to run
in the MacOS X Terminal.

I have a fully functioning install of QGIS 3.2, can run commands in the
console in app etc.

But trying even a basic hello world crashes when I try to run it: the
following:

from qgis.core import *

QgsApplication.setPrefixPath("/Applications/QGIS3.app/Contents/MacOS",
True)
qgs = QgsApplication([], False)
qgs.initQgis()
qgs.exitQgis()

produces this error:

This application failed to start because it could not find or load the
Qt platform plugin "cocoa" in "".

Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Abort trap: 6

Does anyone have a workaround or specific list of bash_profile variables to
have things set up correctly? Do I need to import Qt or similar in the
script (this was pulled directly from the QGIS Documentation site)

Re: [Qgis-user] Install ver. 2.14 and 3.2 on the same computer

2018-08-02 Thread Maria Shinoto
Hi Esther,

Thanks a lot. So I will give it a try and return to this list, if there are
problems I cannot locate.

As for projects, yes, it seems that version 3 stores them differently, but this
is no problem in my case.

Best,
Maria

[Qgis-user] qgis 3 on CentOS

2018-08-02 Thread Valentin
I'm trying to install qgis on CentOS 7. I followed instruction on qgis
download page however the repository (fedora.vitu.ch) seem to be broken.

I made :

sudo wget fedora.vitu.ch/EL/qgis.repo -P /etc/yum.repos.d/

then this error message appear :

Resolving fedora.vitu.ch (fedora.vitu.ch)... failed: Name or service not known

wget: unable to resolve host adress âfedora.vitu.châ

Any way to fix it or any alternative repository from where i can download
qgis for CentOS ?

Re: [Qgis-user] Install ver. 2.14 and 3.2 on the same computer

2018-08-02 Thread Gomes, Esther
Hi Maria,
I keep both 3.2 and 2.18 on my computer, and they each work fine. From looking
at them, QGIS 2.18 uses GRASS 7.4.0, while QGIS 3.2 uses GRASS 7.4.1.

I will caution that I've opened qgs files saved from 3.2 in 2.18 and some of
the stylings or properties aren't there. Particularly the print composer is a
bit different, and QGIS 2.18 couldn't see any of my layouts I had created.

Hi,

I am new to QGIS and installed version 3.2 in the beginning, with GDAL, GRASS
7, etc. in their newest incarnations.

Now I cooperate with people who use the Japanese version 2.14 on Windows (I am
on a Mac), and together with older versions of GDAL and GRASS 7 (I suppose) and
mathplotlib.

On the other hand, I have already started working with version 3.2, which works
nice for my project.

So I would like to keep both versions on my Mac.

I cannot find any information about the parallel use of GRASS, GDAL in
different versions, or whether I can use the newest versions with 2.14 as well.
And I cannot find informations whether I harm version 3.2 when I install
mathplotlib.

Since there are additional problems with Japanese encodings etc., I would like
to reduce the potential of trouble in the first place, there is a lot that
seems to go wrong.

Python 2.x and 3.x is of course not problem.

Thanks for any hint reg.

Re: [Qgis-user] Fwd: QGIS web map - add author name

2018-08-02 Thread Philip Barlow
Hi Yossi,

No problem.

Qgis2web used to have the option to use templates, where you would be able to
add these kinds of things to the template so you wouldn’t have to manually add
them each time. I don’t see that in the QGIS 3.x version. I’m sure Tom will be
able to help there.

Thanks Phil,
This really helped and solved the problem.

However I have some issues:

I worked according to your instructions and updated the index.html file - It
solved the problem.
But when I publish again the web map, I get a new index.html file without this
manual update.

I looked to the link you sent me in github. They discuss there doing this kind
of manual update in the template. So I went to the templates files in
C:\Users\username\.qgis2\qgis2web\templates folder and made this manual update
in the template files.
This solves the problem when I re-publish the map.
But it doesn't solve the problem when I make an update in the map and save it
in QGIS Desktop.

I guess a solution for this requires an enhancement in QGIS Desktop.
Per your advice I opened a new enhancement request on github.

Thanks again
Yossi

Your title

The z-index is important, make sure you add it to the div id for the map or

I created my first web map in QGIS, using the good instructions in this web
page:
https://www.qgistutorials.com/en/docs/web_mapping_with_qgis2web.html

I want to add a fixed text
(such as author's name)
at the bottom of the map.
Is it possible to do it by updating the file qgis2web.js or any other way?

I am not familiar with java script - it would be great if you could provide me
an example of
the relevant java script command that I need to add into qgis2web.js.

Some more details:
I use QGIS version 2.18 (I tried using QGIS 3.0, but I couldn't create a web
map in this version).
I created the web map using qgis2web plugin.

Thanks
Yossi

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS 3.2.0 Layer Style issue

2018-08-02 Thread Andreas Neumann
Hi Richard,

I meant that you can use the "No Symbols" renderer in combination with
the rule based renderer to get the features for the labels you want.

Apparently, QGIS does not label, if the features aren't retrieved for
symbology - but you can work around that by creating a rule (using scale
ranges) and combine it with the "No Symbols" renderer. By doing that,
you won't have to duplicate the layers for such situations. The "No
symbols" renderer does retrieve the features and you can label them, but
in that rule they are not drawn for symbology.

2018-08-02 Thread Richard McDonnell
Andreas,
Thanks for getting back. I need the Symbols and Labels for zoom levels
1:2,000,000 and 1:20,001, so the No Symbols, won’t do the trick for me
unfortunately.
I assumed that with separate rendering (Scale Ranges) that I would be able to
make the switch from Symbols and Labels to Labels Only, seamlessly with a
single Layer.

Maybe this is something which could be implemented in future versions?
I may have to just use duplicate layering, to achieve the result I want, Thanks
again for getting back.
Regards,

Richard.

Is there a way for me to do what I want without having to duplicating the

Ah - and by the way:

for date and time input, there are special calendar widgets available.
If you use these, there should be no needs for instructions on what date
format to use.

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS 2.18 - Layereigenschaften - Felder - Kommentar

2018-08-02 Thread Andreas Neumann
Hi Ingrid,

Are you aware that this e-mail list is for "english language"? If you
want to discuss in german language, please use the fossgis-talk email
list. See https://lists.fossgis.de/mailman/listinfo/fossgis-talk-liste

Regarding your question:

It has been under discussion whether the "Comments" should be displayed
as tooltips over the widgets, however, this should be an opt-in (not on
by default), because it can also be annoying. And it isn't implemented
yet.

The comments are originally to see comments from database fields (e.g.
Postgis) - and such comments can be rather technical, rather than being
meant for the average users - however, I could see value, as an opt in -
to display such comments as tooltips.

For your other issues:

If you have the choice, I would recomment that you set up your projects
with QGIS 3.x rather than QGIS 2.18 - because with 3.x there is more
control on data restrictions and default values (on insert and update).

As Günter mentioned, you can also use "Aliases" to display hints for
user input by users. And in QGIS 3.x. you can add units into widgets,
e.g. to indicate what unit an input value is meant for.

Hope this helps and greetings,

Andreas

Hi Yossi,

You could just add something like this to the index.html output at the bottom
between and the ?

Your title

The z-index is important, make sure you add it to the div id for the map or
else your title will be underneath your map and you won’t see it.

Like this:

You’ll find some more info here:

You could put in an enhancement request on github?

Hope this helps.

Thanks
