[Qgis-user] 200717 - How do I enclose an orthogonal grid of points with a polygon boundary.

Hello list,

I hope this finds everyone safe and healthy during these trying times.

I am using a MacBook Pro running macOS 10.15 (Catalina).

QGIS version 3.14.0-Pi. QGIS code revision 9f7028fd23.

I have a shp file containg 2 653 337 points in an orthononal grid with 
25m x 100m spacing of the points.


The grid is oriented north south. These points are in lines spaced 25m 
in the easting (X) direction and 100m northing (Y) direction.


I would like to apply a polygon as a boundary (red) as shown in the 
screen grab below.



I have not been able to achieve this using convex hull as the final 
output does not take into acount the sawtooth steps.


Any help or pointers would be appreciated thanks.
I am not a coder and have no knowledge of writing any scripts.

penso ci sia qualcosa che non va o qualche libreria mancante nella tua
installazione su Ubuntu...

Usando QGIS 3.14.0 su Windows 10, standalone installer, ho in lista i
seguenti provider con relativo numero di algoritmi:
3d: 1
gdal: 55
grass7: 301
native: 190
qgis: 63
saga: 366

Con qgis-dev 3.15.0-15 su Windows 10, OSGeo4W nework installer, (senza GRASS
e SAGA):
3d: 1
gdal: 56
grass7: 301
native: 197
qgis: 63

Con QGIS 3.14.0 su Ubuntu 20.04 (senza SAGA):
3d: 1
gdal: 55
grass7: 301
native: 190
qgis: 63

Quindi sostanzialmente lo stesso numero di algoritmi, a parte quelli
relativi a SAGA.

In tutti e tre i casi il comando qgis_process plugins restituisce il
seguente output

Available plugins
(* indicates loaded plugins which implement Processing providers)

* processing


Per il momento non ho idea del perché nella tua installazione su Ubuntu
18.04 non ottieni la lista completa.

[Qgis-user] Typo? "required ... donation" for training certificates?

"If approved you are required to make a €20 donation to the QGIS project 
for each certificate."


Is the word use "donation" intentional there, or merely a typo? Because 
it's a bit of an oxymoron to have a "required" "donation".

Questo dipende dal fatto che hai installato la versione 3.14.0 (9f7028fd23)
che conteneva ancora il bug relativo alla necessità di definire tutti i
parametri che è stato risolto solo di recente.

Quindi, per non avere quel problema puoi attender la prossima versione
3.14.1 e aggiornare la tua installazione oppure installare una recente
versione nightly build della 3.14 o della 3.15-master.


Per quanto riguarda la necessità di settare opportunamente la variabile
d'ambiente QT_QPA_PLATFORM in un sistema Ubuntu senza monitor per far
funzionare correttamente qgis_process, non so se sia un compito di cui si
deve preoccupare l'amministratore di sistema o se possa essere evitato
direttamente con una modifica del codice da parte degli sviluppatori.

Forse è una questione che potresti proporre nella lista qgis-developer
(oppure come commento alla PR che ha introdotto qgis_process) insieme a
quella di poter disporre, se possibile, di un pacchetto di installazione su
Linux specifico per qgis_process senza necessità di installare tutto il
pacchetto qgis (che fra le altre cose comprende anche la parte della GUI che
non è necessaria in questo caso).


Grazie per il blog post, però mi pare che le seguenti due parti siano ormai
da considerare superate:

- quella relativa all'esecuzione in background su Windows: come hai potuto
vedere tu stesso il bug è stato risolto (nell'attuale 3.15-master, 3.14
nightly-build e nella imminente 3.14.1) e adesso il processo visualizza una
barra testuale di avanzamento 0...10...20... fino al termine dell'esecuzione
dell'algoritmo.

- la parte in cui si dice che "in ambiente windows ha ancora alcuni problemi
da risolvere": i due problemi riscontrati, mancanza di output / esecuzione
in background e necessità di tutti i parametri (questo comune anche a Linux
e Mac) sono stati risolti.

Ciao Salvatore,
penso che sia un problema che potrebbe dover essere risolto da Nyall Dawson
che ha sviluppato questa parte del codice.
Magari probabilmente potrebbe essere utile avere un pacchetto separato solo
per questo eseguibile e le sole librerie necessarie al suo funzionamento, in
modo da non dover nemmeno installare la GUI di QGIS.

Comunque sia, mi sa che è un problema che si riscontra anche in altre
situazioni di software sviluppati su piattaforma Qt ma senza tener conto
della possibilità che possano essere eseguiti su sistemi headless senza
monitor.

Per aggirare il problema potresti provare a settare la variabile
QT_QPA_PLATFORM in questo modo:

export QT_QPA_PLATFORM='offscreen'

Hi,

It would help if you said what installer you are using and what version of 
Windows you are using.   I imagine you are using the regular easy installer and 
not the OSGeo4w installer. This is what I would try.

Disable any anti-virus software or anti-malware Software.

Uninstall QGIS if it’s still in found in your uninstall programs window of the 
Windows Control panel.

Reboot between every install or uninstall.

Delete QGIS folder manually if you still still have some.  If you use the easy 
installer, look in the program files (for the 32 or 64bit program) And if you 
use the OSGeo4w installer, look in the c:/OSGeo4w folder.  

Delete QGIS hidden user folder   “C:\Users\\.qgis folder “

Delete QGIS registry keys and reboot. (This is when things really don’t work)

Reinstall QGIS.  If the installer you are using does not work, use the other 
one. I personally use OSGeo4w.  Shortcuts will be found in the under OSGeo4w.

Dear Jane,
how did you proceed with the installation ? It sounds as if you have
installed QGIS with the Standalone installer. Apparently you have been
installing on a Windows System. 

That the Short cut icons have vanished, wouldn't be a problem. 

Don't you have a bin folder in your installation path of QGIS like e.g.
'C:\Program Files\QGIS\bin' ? There should be a qgis-bin.exe like:
qgis-bin.exe, qgis-bin-g7.exe, qgis-ltr-bin.exe  or so. If you double click
on such an exe, a QGIS version should start.

Sorry, If I can't compare the path for the qgis-bin.exe directly with one of
my installations, because I install normally with OSGeo4W and then the
default path is different.

you need to set this variable:

export QT_QPA_PLATFORM = 'offscreen'

Il tuo suggerimento funziona, cioè ottengo l'output.

Nota: occorrono tutti i parametri, per esempio:

qgis_process run native:centroids --INPUT="./Reg01012020_g_WGS84.shp"

Salve lista,
nella mia precedente mail ho chiesto come far funzionare il nuovo strumento
qgis_process [0] su OSGeo4W Shell e ci siamo risusciti grazie ai
suggerimenti di Andrea.

In questa mail chiedo qualcosa di più avanzato, forse di più complicato
visto che NON trovo nessuna guida in merito.

Come usare il nuovo strumento 'qgis_process' in ambiente linux (Ubuntu)
senza la GUI di QGIS??

Lo strumento è nato per usare QGIS da riga di comando quindi la GUI non
serve e NON voglio installarla.

Ho cercato in giro e NON ho trovato nulla di utile, per installare QGIS
senza gui ho seguito questi passi:

sudo apt-get install gnupg software-properties-common
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys
51F523511C7028C3
sudo add-apt-repository "deb https://qgis.org/ubuntugis `lsb_release -c
-s` main"
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install qgis qgis-plugin-grass

appena terminati, ho lanciato qgis --version:
QGIS 3.14.0-Pi 'Pi' (9f7028fd23)

sembra tutto ok, ma lo strumento qgis-process NON funziona, appena lancio un
qualsiasi comando (che nella OSGeo4W SHell funziona) per esempio
qgis_process list, compare il seguente messaggio:

QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set, defaulting to
'/tmp/runtime-pigreco'
qt.qpa.screen: QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display
Could not connect to any X display.

COme rimediare?? esiste una guida dettagliata?? 

Poi ho anche installato qgis server che funziona senza GUI ma nulla, il
messaggio è sempre lo stesso, quello di sopra.

Per favore non fatemi abbandonare definitivamente l'idea di usare linux a
vantaggio della OSGeo4W
