I just ran into this and looks like a bug. Apparently dragging and dropping
layers from the Browser panel works perfectly. Do try and see if that's the
case.

Re: [Qgis-user] Vote for Lat Lon Tools Default Coordinate Order - YX or XY

2020-11-20 Thread Brent Wood
1. "lat/lon"  is the world wide order for degree based maps (esp in the
navigation space)
2. "Lat Lon is the name of the tool,

It doesn't make any sense (to me) to have lon/lat as the default order for this
tool. I know some other GIS tools use lon lat to be consistent with northings &
eastings which are XY, but with this tool being all about lat/lon, I figure
that is how it should be.

One option - if you are really concerned about this. Prompt on first use to set
the user's preferred default? Make it impossible for the user to use the plugin
without having first chosen what they want the order to be. So it doesn't have
a default, just a user selected order.
Cheers

[Qgis-user] 202021-ESRI gdb not opening on macOS Big Sur Version 11.0.1

2020-11-20 Thread Paul T A Drea

Dear list,

I am running QGIS 3.16.0-Hannover QGIS code revision 4af1cbfb97 on a
macOS Big Sur platform.

Below is the error message I get when I try to open an ESRI gdb file.

2020-11-21T10:36:46     CRITICAL Invalid Data Source : /Volumes/PAUL SSD
3/_Verif-i_UAE_2019/04.Data/02.GIS/03.Shapefiles/5.BLOCK_7_NORTH/Facilities_OnshoreBlock7.gdb
is not a valid or recognized data source.

This same file opens on my Ubuntu 20.04 machine and Win10 machine
running QGIS 3.14.1-Pi QGIS code version de08d6b71d with no problems.

This has only become apparent after an update on macOS from Catalina
v10.15 to Big Sur 11.0.1

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Any help in solving this would be much appreciated.

Thank you and BR.

Paul

Re: [Qgis-user] OSgeo4W installation - postinstall routines exit with code -6

2020-11-20 Thread Nicolas Cadieux
Hi,

I gave this answer earlier this week. I don’t know if it worked. Please inform
the list if you find the solution.

« Hi,
Maybe a problem with the Grass installation?

https://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo4w/ticket/601

Last time I had that problem, I followed the introduction here,
https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/240159/qgis-2-18-the-program-cant-start-because-qgis-app-dll-is-missing-from-your-com
That was for 2.18. »

2020-11-20 Thread Mike Flannigan

I too like lat, long, but I can live with anything that is done.
I'll just set it to lat, long.

I understand the thinking to change it to X,Y.  Many people
in the field would agree that is better.  I'm just not one of them.

I use this tool constantly.  Thank you.

Tools plugin for coordinate capture and zoom-to tools should be "longitude,
latitude" or "X, Y". Originally, Lat Lon Tools was designed to work with
on-line maps which are generally "latitude, longitude" order.

You can always go into the plugin settings and specify which order you want
and that order will be preserved everytime you launch QGIS. The default
order is only applicable the first time you install "Lat Lon Tools" or if
you do a reset to defaults in the Lat Lon Tools settings menu,

Who prefers Lat Lon Tools to default to "longitude, latitude" or "X, Y"
when the plugin is first installed or reset to default values?

Who prefers Lat Lon Tools to default to "latitude, longitude (Google map
order)" or "Y, X" when the plugin is first installed or reset to default
values?

I'm just checking to see if I should make this change or not.

Thanks,

Calvin

[Qgis-user] OSgeo4W installation - postinstall routines exit with code -6

2020-11-20 Thread karsten
Hi All,

I have been using a OSgeo4W installation with QGIS , QGIS+ Grass Saga etc
for years on this windows 7 machine
The last update did not work correctly (a long list of post install routines
exited with code -6. I ran a reinstall , same problem. I removed all via the
setup routine, deleted remaining content of c:\OSGeo4W64\ cleaned registry
and switched off Norton security suite that was running. After a machine
reboot download a fresh osgeo4w-setup-x86_64.exe and ran a new installation
(as Administrator). That resulted in the same issues.

I checked c:\OSGeo4W64\var\log\setup.log and found the list of errors listed
below.
QGIS *.exe versions or .bat files in c:\OSGeo4W64\bin\ are not starting and
instead I am getting an "qgis_app.dll can not be loaded" error.
There are no *.env file in the C:\OSGeo4W64 and ist sub-directories

Would anyone have a hint how this can be solved ?

Cheers
Karsten

Re: [Qgis-user] Anybody playing with pg_featureserv + OGC API Features + QGIS?

2020-11-20 Thread Thayer Young
 Hi Richard,
I would also like to hear if anyone has been successful.
I have not tried the more recent pg_tileserve or pg_featureserve, but this
summer I did follow Paul Ramsey's instructions on how to get ST_AsMVT working
in OpenLayers javascript.
https://info.crunchydata.com/blog/dynamic-vector-tiles-from-postgis

I had similar problems with getting the vector tiles to connect and open in
QGIS with either the Crunchy middle ware script, or with Geoserver.
Crunchy unfortunately does not seem to be moving these forward for QGIS, maybe
Lutria will add this at some point?

up to a local database, thinking it would serve OGC API Features..

But I cannot get it to talk to QGIS/WFS3...

Anybody else is? Or has some info why it should/or not?

Using http://localhost:9000/collections.json as endpoint

Richard Duivenvoorde--

Re: [Qgis-user] Vote for Lat Lon Tools Default Coordinate Order - YX or XY

2020-11-20 Thread Nicolas Cadieux
Hi,

I would default to the name of the tool. Lat Lon. This way, we can more easily
remember.

As a side note, being dyslexic (and getting stuff like left and right wrong 25%
of the time!), I always like when I also see things like N, W or x,y or row
col, besides lat Lon in the GUI just to get additional visual cues as to what
i’am processing.

2020-11-20 Thread qgis-user

Given that the question only applies to the default at installation,
I think it's so much a matter of taste you might as well flip a
coin.
We talk about "lat/lon", so that strikes me as the natural order for
the default.
I mostly work in UTM, so it doesn't matter much to me, anyway.

2020-11-20 Thread Ujaval Gandhi
I generally use Lat Lon Tools to go to a specific coordinate that I found
somewhere (online maps, Wikipedia etc.) - so latitude, longitude is
preferred. There are other use cases where X,Y is preferred, but I have
always found it easy to switch using settings or dropdown menu when needed.

Thanks for authoring and maintaining a great plugin!

[Qgis-user] Vote for Lat Lon Tools Default Coordinate Order - YX or XY

2020-11-20 Thread C Hamilton
It was suggested to me that the default coordinate order in the Lat Lon

Thanks,

Calvin

Re: [Qgis-user] Anybody playing with pg_featureserv + OGC API Features + QGIS?

2020-11-20 Thread Bo Victor Thomsen

Hi Richard -

I just did a setup of a test service on my windows pc to a postgres 9.6
database on the same pc

And adding the the table like this:

(loriot.gps_converted is the "schema"."table" name in the database)

So using the ogr driver in QGIS works.

*However*, in no way (or shape, secret sauce or incarnations) can I get
any successful response using the "WFS/OGC API - Features" tab in the
Data source manager. Only error messages

Med venlig hilsen / Kind regards

Bo Victor Thomsen

[Qgis-user] Auxiliary Storage

2020-11-20 Thread Paul Wittle
Hi,

I can now see that you can export the auxiliary storage information but I can't
see an option it import it back. Is this a one way function but I can see lots
of uses where you might want to export customised labelling for a layer and
then import it into another project?

Thanks,
Paul
