Re: [Qgis-user] issue with ”Task complete: Counting features in...”

2022-05-16 Thread Nicolas Cadieux via Qgis-user
Hi,

I have been using the Atlas features lately. The legend is indeed very slow
when you activate various functions like show only features on the map. This
does require the legend to look at the fields defending on the layer styles and
then check what is on the map. This is very slow.

2022-05-16 Thread Alexandru Munteanu via Qgis-user
Hi all,
Thank you for the tips! Unfortunately nothing worked.
In the main window, feature counting in layers is not activated, nor it is
active in the legend in the print layout.
A new user with no plugins installed also didn't give any improvements.

I'm thinking it might be something related with the print layout because it
mainly counts features when i edit the legend or change the scale of the
map.

A

Re: [Qgis-user] The Split Features tool is not working...

2022-05-16 Thread Harrissou s. via Qgis-user
Hi,
No, the "Split features" tool is meant to create separate features (ref
https://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_vector/editing_geometry_attributes.html#split-features)
but you also have the "Split parts" tool that does what Erick Castillo
described
(https://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_vector/editing_geometry_attributes.html#split-parts).
The icons look alike so maybe you selected the wrong one?

2022-05-16 Thread Nicolas Cadieux via Qgis-user
Hi,

I guess default is to split the shapes into multipart objects. You can then
used the multi part to single parts tools. That will split the geometries and
create new lines in the database. Always check for topology errors before and
after using such tools. The “Fix geometry” tool is good for this sort of thing
if you find errors.

[Qgis-user] The Split Features tool is not working...

2022-05-16 Thread Erick Castillo Núñez via Qgis-user
Hi everybody

I was trying to split some polygons using The Split Features tool, but it
is not working properly. Apparently it works as indicated in the manual,
even though I've done that procedure some time before, but when it is
divided in two parts and I select individually each polygon, it remains as
one and even shows the division line. It produces an error in topology
(obviously) that shows in the topology checker tool.

Has anybody else experienced that issue? Any suggestions?

Re: [Qgis-user] issue with ”Task complete: Counting features in...”

2022-05-16 Thread Roland Spielhofer via Qgis-user

Hi,

I saw the same while creating virtual layers from a shape and a csv - "normal" join, no spatial join.

Counting features took ages, although the number of records was "only" between 8000 and 15000.

The funny thing was that the number in square brackets right of the layername ("Show feature count" ticked on in the layers panel) was accurate right after the join, but the progress bar was much slower...

I did not investigate any further, but all data was on a local hard drive.

Regards,

Roland

Hello,

I am encountering an issue that dramatically slows down the work flow in qgis. I am using the version 3.24.
My project consists of more then 100 layers, both shp and wms. These projects are city master plans, an they are quite bulky, data wise.

The issue is that every time i make an operation, the program runs a process ending with the message ”Task complete: Counting features in ...(layer)”. This especially happens when i compile print layouts and edit anything in the print layout. When this happens the program freezes to points when i have to forcibly restart the program.

Did anyone encounter similar problems? Is there way around that? Can i make it stop counting the features?
Or maybe do you have tips on how i can change the work flow?
The idea is that when i finish the project i should print around 15 thematic layouts.

Thank you for any info you could provide me on that!
Best,
Alexandru

Hello, I'm currently using both QGIS 3.16.13 and QGIS 3.16.7 working on the

are the same as the new shapefiles. Does anyone have any clue on why this
happens?
